@nkssk5 the real Bible story of this says that Cain brought God the worst of his harvest and saved the best for himself. Abel however brought the very best of his flock and offered it to God. God was pleased with Abel's offering more because it was a true offering. Cain became angry at this (again selfishness) and killed Abel. So God punished Cain for his sin. But then in Hebrews 11:4 it states ---> "By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was approved as a righteous man, because God approved his gifts, and even though he is dead, he still speaks through his faith."

We know that from Gen. to the 4 Gospels the only acceptable offering was a lamb and Christ represented the Great Lamb. Therefore when Abel brought his offering to the Lord it showed that he knew Christ, but Cain couldn't even humble himself to ask his brother for a sheep for an offering so he relied on his own skill of gathering wheat which was not acceptable. This meant that Cain didn't know Christ because of his pride and stubborness (1 Sam. 15:23) and that plus jealousy led Cain to kill Abel

So let me see if I got it right. This god favored a murdered animal but frowned on fruit that someone worked just as hard to bring as a sacrifice... Then out of nowhere his brother flips out and kills Abel. Because this god says he likes BLOOD sacrifices more and then tells these, apparently feeble minded creatures, about it ? Some intelligent design. This a terrible story. It's no wonder so many people have twisted values and morals.

You must look deeper. God probably did not necessarily care about what the offering was but more about the condition of the hearts of Cain and Abel. Its ridiculous to judge god by one story that probably leaves out a lot of information.

@matttarpley The issue wasn't blood sacrifice vs. plant. It was the fact that Abel had brought the best he had and plenty of it willingly. Cain brought a low-quality offering and hadn't put much effort or thought into it, and didn't bring it with a generous attitude.
