  • I've seen both versions of this AD, long and short. They show the long versions primarily on G4TV and sometimes on NBA... the short version is all over major channels.

  • "Jerks" being the people who made this commercial. I hate it when ads take a perfectly good song and use it completely out of context to advertise a product. Maybe "rape" is a harsh term, but it's still a shitty practice in advertising.

  • The whole point is lost on all of you, gears of war isn't supposed to be some game with deep character development and a tear jerking story - it's supposed to be a badass action title and this ad gives the complete wrong impression of the game - and that is a very bad thing if you are advertising something.

  • Wow, you couldnt be farther. Gears of War is about a falling human race, As the earth is being torn apart. The Main character and his group of soldiers are the last hope of destroying these aliens from detroying the planet.

  • This ad is great. Like juventes said people were expecting a heavy metal gun-ho type of music but if you think about it for a while it fit's. The said feeling n the song goes with the sadness of marcus and the world he lives in. Also who ever made marcus' face have terror in it when facing that giant spider thing was brillent. Here you are thinking hes a badass not afraid of anything soldier but that expression sorta humanizes him and makes him seem kind of normal.

  • I think some people don't like the song because they were expecting some kind of grand orchestral score, or speed metal or something. But I really think this song seems to fit perfectly. I mean, some guy put this to Smashing Pumpkins. Nothing against them, but it just didn't fit.

  • My favorite part of the video is the expression on Marcus' face when he faces the giant spider creature. Most characters in games of this ilk would probably sneer, say something clever, then start blasting. Instead, we see the man is geniunely terrified; pure genius. Hope there is more stuff like this in the actual game.

  • I never noticed that at first when I initially saw the ad on G4 Tech TV. Now that I saw it again on YouTube, you're right-- Marcus' facial expression is not of some "gun-ho" military soldier, it's fear and surprise. You wouldn't expect this kind of emotional expression in this type of game, but more shown in RPGs like those from Square-Enix. That is just awesome and amazing you see this type of emotion expressed. I can't wait to see the game now.
