I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Tonight (February 22, Ash Wednesday), this was our Psalm of the Day (1-17). In a sermon that I heard one time on this text, the minister said that David caught a bad case of P.M.S......Power, Money, Sex.
these guys played at my church years ago. truly amazing. God has bestowed such a gift to these men. if you ever get a chance to see them live i highly recommend
I can't express how glad I am that someone else thought to put the Psalms to music just as they are, nearly word-for-word. I'd considered it myself, but I didn't think I had the talent to do so satisfactorily. I wish I had known about Sons of Korah earlier! This is a good day.
What a beautiful and humbling psalm. It's so true to what our reaction should ever be before God. He does not regard the pround, but looks upon the humble with favor, for He alone is worthy of our boasting. If He should mark our transgressions, who would stand before His throne of judgement? For He alone is holy and righteous. Still He is the God of mercy, who takes no pleasure in taking the lives of sinners, but rather for us to repent of our wickedness and be restored for His name's sake.
Lord you are good. You do not lie. You sustain us with your very thought. You maintain every molecule in the universe. How fearful that makes me...I can never hope to grasp your being with my finite mind. I am dumbfounded by the very thought of your existence and yet you became a human to make me whole. You give yourself and promise to listen to me whenever I talk to you. You know everything about me and you still love me. Who am I Lord that you are mindful of me. Have mercy on me a sinner.
what a beautiful song showing us the way back to our Father's tender heart when He out of His great love disciplens us for our own eternal good. He has taken something very dear and special in my own life showing me things that might have been had I not lived a life so long of compromise after compromise through my long journey of faith sinse coming to Know Jesus personaly so many decades ago. Our sins surley will find us out, God is looking for those who will worship Him in truth and in spirit

I love how they used the melody of the well known song 'Create in me a clean heart' in it. I love the whole song. Psalm 51 always touches me.
