I am not sure for these units, but the other video before this one are cooling a 500 ton chiller. And they cycle the fans all summer long so I'm sure they can do a little more. Well, the chiller never needs quite 100% either. Right njow it's running at 12% in the AM LOL!
Camera worked good, and the cooling towers looked almost as good as when I made them lol. Are those Evapco towers or B.A.C. ? They look like Evapco...
@hackfreehvac Cool, I worked at the Madera plant for 12 yrs. lol did everything from sheet metal to repairs. I have not seen one in 12 yrs. Good video.
cool. them air inler grills are not to code. they should not let light in. if they are to code and install right you should not get problems like that. you camra is cool. i want one. good vid. keep them comeing. :D
@hackfreehvac yer they should not let the sunlight in. so the one you showed wher you could see the water from outside is a no-no hear. light makes nasty stuff grow. if you want you can place a order for the right stuff cut. looks like its 65mm thick.
water-cooled chillers seem to be more trouble than they're worth. They may be more efficient but considering cost of maintenance, repairs, chemical treatments, water damage, and most likely shorter lifespan compared to air cooled units due to rust/corrosion...what's your opinion?
@m1991colt Yeah, around here air cooled chillers are more common in newer installations. Since you can get them upwards of 500 tons now, if you have the space for them, maintenance guys love them.
These ones here go to a loop for our water sourced heat pumps. A whole bunch of them.
In my other video those big ones go to our 500 ton chiller.
My boss had analyzed the electric bill and it's like HALF the electric per the square foot than I pay at home. And commercial pays a higher fee than we do at home. They get hit for PEAK DEMANDS like when a large compressor starts.
The towers paired with the variable speed chiller are twice as efficient as package units, etc.
good video

What camera is that, where did you get it, because that is VERY good for a cheap camera

@weasel2htm
I got it from a guy with an eBay store.
I got TWO of these cameras shipped from over seas for $15 total!
Then each one needed a $10 4 gig microSD card.
So I have $17.50 invested into each.
On the other cooling tower video I uploaded before this one, I have a direct link to the eBay store I got it from.

Thanks. Although I don't know what you mean about CODE and the grills not letting light in.
Unless you were kidding and I misunderstood.
Of course when I was showing the light through some of them, the grills on the other side were off allowing me to film through the grills.

Oh, you're talking about bacteria and stuff.
I think we're ok. I had to leave panels off to get the shot with the light from the other end.
It's also surrounded by brick walls. If light gets in it is for a short period.
