iMovie HD - Splitting and Cropping your Movie Clips

I have an imac g3 and imovue is so slow on it it takes 20 minutes to put a 2 minute vid! everytime I put titles and stuff it never goes on and neither are the effects! Is there a way to make it faster? please respond!

when ever i put a clip into imovie sometimes it automatically adds the black strip on the top and bottom. (i think it's a letterbox...) but how do i remove it?

That has something to do with the original size of the movie you'r importing.

when you choose 1280x1024 as Movie Project, and you import a 800x600 movie, it automatically adds a letterbox, else it will look like garbage xD

like: put a 800x600 resolution picture as background, and set it to 'Fit to screen' it will look horrible.

same with your movie xD

on youtube, go up to the button that says "upload" but first, you must share the movie onto something else using the "share" button at the top of the imove bar. i like to share onto my itunes. so there. but can you tell me how to paste picture onto video?

yeh but when u edit the clip, chosing where to start and end, can you save it into your desktop with the changes made?

ya you can all you do is do a "save as" under the file menu and then title the movie and save the movie. the quit imovie HD and go into finder. find your video under the movies tab and drag it to the desktop. if you want to put it on youtube open the movie and click share and then choose quicktime movie

If the DVD was created by you, or has no copyright or other protection schemes, you can use the free program MPEG-StreamClip (Google it) to "Open" the first .VOB file in the VIDEO_TS directory of the DVD. You will be asked if you want to load the others. From here, you can export it all to a DV file, which you can import into iMovie. You can also set in/out points (by tapping "i" or "o") using the "scrubber" (play bar) and exporting just that portion. Use the free iSquint to make it iPod ready.

You cannot put it on DVD with iMovie. You have to do that with iDVD, but there is a button in iMovie (far right) for sending to iDVD when you're done. They are integrated.

Thank you for the informative tutorial, I've been trying to make a very fast transitioning slide show on iMovie HD, but the window always closed suddenly by itself, any idea what I've done wrong? I save the project everytime I made a chnage, and two days worth the hard work later, iMovie HD just crash and all my photos are done!

This usually is caused by a memory overload or failure causing the program to crash. This can happen due to moving or working with too many images - or even too large of images.
