There is a Dutch Oven among my cast iron collection and outdoor cooking equipment, but I can see from this video that I have a lot to learn in the proper way to utilize this 'black pot'.
You captured the fun of it all with some good looking food thrown in. I have only been to one gathering but it was a smorgasbord of taste delights and the learning and sharing was great for a beginner like me. Youtube is a great way to share this hobby/passion with the world and I thank you for doing so.
Thanks, CAROLYNSCOCIOZ. They were a fun group of folks to spend time with. So often our lives get so busy and we forget to slow down and just enjoy each others company over shared food. The extra benefit here, of course, is that's outside and done with caste iron -> which I love to cook on myself!
I highly recommend them! I have one for 'indoor' use (no legs for stacking) and cook with it regularly. Cast iron is great for cooking all kinds of things!
Wow! And we'll be Hiking up Mt St Helen's and Dutch oven cooking in Jan. 2008 with our Boy Scout troop. I will be sharing this video for sure. Thanks a bunch.
I make a great all beef steak-chili! No beans, or pre-ground chili powders are used...just as God intended!
However, I must say my propane grill has gathered dust for two years, since I discovered a great bargain of a charcoal griller by the name brand Char Griller!
We are going to use my fatherinlaws' apple cider press in a couple of weekends from now and I'm sure there will be somethinf warm in the dutch. Try it! Can't make a mistake.
This is alot of fun. I just got back from a hunting trip where the dutch oven was in use all the time. I made a beef stew with beef chunks, (duh) and carrots, cauliflour, brocoli, taters and a purple onion. The next day I did a pineapple-peach cobbler to go with the porck chops anopther guy made- And, oh ya, we saw some elk too! ha
everything i've tried that was made in a DO was outstanding. i cook w/it inside, but i like it best when outside. something about all that fresh air, i guess :)
You guys are the most awsome group of cooks on the planet... AWSOME! I love the gathering of friends and family as much as the cooking... You keep traditions that make our country great.

Nicely put together video. I attended my first DOG this morning, and stuff turned out great. First time we didn't burn the corn bread. :)

I used to be a river guide on the Middle Fork and Main Salmon. We did most of our cooking with duck ovens. Great for biscuits and cobblers.
