  • I'd be more impressed if it wasn't done in xna. But still, some weapons look pretty cool and you're focusing on the game itself, so that's good.

  • Oh snapp at first I wasn't sure, but some of these weapons look pretty fun! Id see them in a sidescrolling shooter instead though (except for the one that creates walls naturally)

  • i just want to make some suggestions.

    first you might want to make the big guns and ice gun with limited ammo. because someone might just go to a corner and use the ice wall and no zombie will ever get to him. and seccond you MUST put a chainsaw in the game, that would kick some major ass (also with limited gas or whatever it uses to work)

    and yeah the game is starting look better everytime i see a new video

  • There will definitely be chainsaws, don't worry.

    And the scoring will be dependent on how quickly you beat a level, so that would prevent players from just sitting in a corner with the ice gun. Plus they wouldn't be able to even beat the level until all the enemies are killed.

    For the legs, you could have them lag (rotationally) from the upper body and "catch up" anytime the angle between the upper and lower differs by some fixed amount. Then you could lerp the rotation of the legs towards the upper body rotation. For extra polish, you could do a few frames of animation of the legs moving so as to sell the fact that he's picking his feet up to rotate them.

    However, plenty of games (even 3D) don't worry about the feet rotating, even when Idle.

  • Hey that's a good idea. I don't think we've thought of that (at least I haven't). I shall see what Jonny thinks.

  • Yeah, we've used that on a few of the 3D games I've worked on. Of course, you only use that technique if the player is Idle. Once they move, the legs need to have the same rotation as the upper body (the strafing/back animations would be rotated in the image).

    In the end, you'll have to make the creative call of determining if it actually makes the player look better of if you should just let the feet slide.

  • Thanks. But what do you mean about the gun? You mean the bullets not coming out straight? Cuz that will be fixed. Or do you mean the left arm? Cuz I don't think it looks right either. But we need to convince Jordan that it's worth changing.

  • Yeah, I meant that his right arm should be bent more (and so look shorter from above, and have his body turned sort of slightly clockwise to allow his left arm to reach up towards the other end of the gun. :)

  • The music's a bit loud at the end (scenes from ep 9); couldnt hear what you guys were saying. Mebe turn it down a notch :P

    But aside from that, nice work guys. Im really eager to see what the game starts looking like after youve got the basic spriting done.
