This may sound like a crazy question on the sportster, and that is how come the tank on the 883's look so much slimmer than that on a 2005 Honda Rebel?? Does the tank hold less gas than the Rebel or more, and what does it get in gas mileage compared to the Honda Rebel??? I am looking at getting a sportster soon, and wondering about it.
If I remember correctly, the 883's tank holds 12 liters, while the Rebel holds 10.
For the mileage, the 883 does about 18-20 kilometers per liter, the Rebel... depends. My 1995 125cc does about 35, but may vary from version to version.
Anyway, I'd suggest trying a sportster in person at a Harley dealer or if you want it used ask for a test ride before you buy it. Feeling it with your ass is the only way to decide if you should buy any motorcycle.
@1337soldiahs Thanks for the information. That helps me out a lot. I was wondering what the figures were. Can the sportster 883 be used for longer rides than just around town driving, or should I go for the 1200 sportster for longer distances, like that of from Northwest Arkansas to Southern Central Arkansas?
I'm not sure, but I don't see why she couldn't... I mean, it's a Harley after all, they are mainly built for travelling... If an old 750 Flathead can go across America, then a modern 883 can too.
@1337soldiahs Cool, thanks for that. I know that my 250 Rebel really is not built for interstate and for mainly in town riding. I will go test ride one soon.
Well, if you can actually afford one, you should also try getting your ass on a 1200, then see if you're getting a massive powerthirst...
Only downside with the 1200, is that it drinks a bit more gas. I'd recommend one with a large gas tank, like the Nightster or the Custom. Stay away from the 48. It looks badass but you'll stop every 5 minutes for fuel. Not cool.
@1337soldiahs cool, I definately have a powerthirst, but one that will fit my budget. I will make sure I do not get a 48. I definately do not want to be "tied to a gas station" every 5 minutes. That would not be very cost efficent for me, since I do Patriot Guard missions locally here in Arkansas now, and also BACA. That would not look good to be "tied to a gas station" every 5 minutes. Thanks for the advice. It means a lot to me.
@1337soldiahs I am pricing the nightsters on the HD website, and I have a few custom bikes that I picked out the custom pieces and have in the "My Garage" option at the website. I have dreamed of having a HD for a long time. Yep, under 10,000 USD would fit into my budget. :) I like being a part of both BACA and Patriot Guard. I hope the Harley I get will be like my Rebel 250's Jardine Pipes, and will be extremely loud at idle. :) That will definately drown out WBC and scare any pedos too. :)
for some reason i dont like white on bikes..but sounds good..check out my 883

@renegadebiker24 Always glad to help, soldier!
Anyway, the Nighster seems like a good deal, and can be easily found under 10'000 USD. Does it fit well into your wallet? :)
P.s. keep kicking WBC's and pedos' butts. The world needs more people like you...
