  • This is in Spain

  • Thismis in Spain.

  • where do you live?

  • Simon,

Just a quick question, What do you use the leather for on the tops of bottles?

  • smooth out the rim

  • when you say the top can get an irregularity i know what you mean. sometimes when i'm forming it one side begins to get thicker than the other. any tips?

  • sounds like you're pulling up too quickly, i tell my students to try counting slowly to 5 while pulling to keep a slower steady pace, and you should see your walls start to even out. hope it helps!

  • its not centered

  • i'm still wondering........NICE WORK! i'm learning mutch from your vidio's, thx!

    Gerda (Belguim)

  • Hi Gerda - good I am glad - keep praticing !SL

  • That clay looks really stiff/hard.

  • Its usually too stiff - my clay supplier !

  • Simon...is there anyway you can show us a better view of the collaring? This is something I am having a hell of a time with. Can't quite find a good example. Thankyou

  • isnt that just basically a bottle with a pouring vessle?

  • What is the average height and width of these Olive Oil Jars? (Just a guess-timate will do)

  • Can you give an approximate height for the olive oil jar & approximate clay weight to use when making one? I attempted to make one in class. It turned out nice despite the need to cut away the top after the top became a bit top heavy causing it to sink into the bottom. I cut away in time to salvage it; shorter than I planned but intact. Next is the stopper and handle before hitting the kiln. Thx for the videos. Pais/Sam

  • Haha this was filmed on my birthday! I also live in spain! :P

  • Hi and whereabouts are you ? SL

  • In Malaga. You?

  • ...in rural Castellon. BTW 'hope you had a great birthday !' ...SL

  • Thanks Simon for the collaring demo. You have one for Spain but do you also have a stamp for England. I am off to throw and give it a go!

  • Hi

When I make pots in UK I am based at Lowerdown Pottery in Bovey Tracey , Devon .I dont put 'england' on those pots but L+ plus my Ls seals.Pots emanating from Spain have (usually) 'spain' on as well as Ls. SL

  • great video!!

  • How about a video showing off your toos and how you made them and what you use them for?

  • good idea - thanks

    SL

  • Ahhh - so you realized I meant TOOLS and not TOES! haha!

    Night night!

  • dreaming....

  • Hi again, Simon. The ONLY addition to your videos that I could use would be to know how much clay you are using for each project. That would help in knowing if I am pulling thin enough to acheive a project of the same size as yours (of course, not the same quality). I tend to keep my things too heavy.

  • hi

Yes ok thats a good idea ! I will try to mention about the weight more often.

    SL

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks, Simon. That's my next project! I wonder how many I'll make before I have one as nice as yours.... :o)

  • Thanks ...good if they help you .Tell others if you have found a good thing ! SL

  • nice!
