@akinadownhillace You're thinking of Mississippi. I lived in Alabama for 7 years and the people there are no dumber than the people in any other state. Nevada, Arizona, California (sad but true), Hawaii, and Alaska are currently considered to be the 5 dumbest states in America (just google it).

Small towns like Auburn, Phenix City, and Fort Payne in Alabama are overflowing with backwoods idiots, but that tends to be the case with every small town in every state.
