Hey dude nice job. Make it legit to shut up the haters. Go to powerliftingwatchdotcom and find a local powerlifting competition and do it in front of three certified judges. You won't regret it and you will have a blast.
Sorry buddy,in my gym as any gym..If the spotter has to touch the bar for you to complete the lift,it doesn't count as a successful max....it's an "i almost got it"lift..your probably closer to385 at the time of this lift...
Unless the spotter can lift 405lbs on his finger then idk how the spotter helped him. Where he put his hands is just the best place to have them if the 17 year old couldn't do it can he had to help him.
"I'm a troll feed me!!!" You are such a dip and the sad thing is your a dime a fucking dozen. Hate over your computer screen whilst the men actually behave like men you little bitch. All I gotta say.
I agree and I always describe it like this. Even if he isn't taking any weight off of the bar he is making is so that the lifter doesn't have to stabilize the weight during the lift which might seem minuscule, but when going for a max it is a very big difference.
But still super strong especially for a 17 year old, but hes not quite 405 strong yet
@Ladscif well when you decide to get in the gym and lift some heavy ass weight. you will see what a difference a little help on the bar will give you.
Thats a good lift for a 17 year old dont get why all these fuckheads cant just accept it for what it is and give him props. The guy touched the bar and? Just cause some guy has his hands lightly under a bar doesn't suddenly make it weigh 200pounds less you fucking retards.
As a member of the 405 Club this lift would not count for anything because the spotter touch the bar. personal safety doesn't matter in this case because if he could have gotten it on his own the spotter never would have touched the bar. Now in my video this is exactly what a spotter should do
@Mr Benlally Personal safety? LOL if you can do the weight you can do the weight you dont need someone touching the bar..with someone "lightly" touching the bar i can add about 50 pounds to my bench easy
I like to always have my spotter's hands on the bar, even if he's not helping. Just knowing that if I need the help, he'll be there to help out helps me mentally, allowing me to press more.
People under estimate just how much easier it makes the lift by someone "lightly" touching the bar. If the guy proper benched it without any assistance, we would know he was benching 405. But one the bar is touched, he could be benching as little as 370. He's using TWO HANDS, you barely feel and could easily toss around a ten pound plate with one hand! let alone two! And in this instance, the guy benching is essentially, helping HIM spot!
I don't think anyone is suggesting that it's a 'bad' lift per se, or that the spotter has the strongest fingers known to man, but clearly even any added help could shed 10-20lbs (if not more) off your lift. In a comp it would be a no lift, but I still say fairplay for shifting so much weight at 17.
It looks like you did it, but punch that fuck in the gut please. Teach him how to spot. You didn't need it. Good lift, too. Honest grip width, looks like your pushing your feet into the floor, no bounce on the chest. Very nice lift. What is your 1 rep max PR as of now? Happy lifting!
he may not have been helping much on the spot, but its amazing what just a little bit of help will do. I'm not discrediting the dude benching, he's obviously strong as fuck, but to everyone else that says "spotting with two fingers doesn't do anything" you obviously haven't had much experience with spotting/being spotted.
@DeBo1220 Yeah this is true but do you really think he would not of benched that. I think he had It but it makes me wonder why anyone would spot like that at all.
Bottom line he would not have gotten the rep on his own without the spotter putting his hands on the bar. You clearly see the rep come to a stop before the hands touch the bar. I'm not saying he has no power because he clearly does, just not quite enough at that moment to get 405 on his own. And while YES this is the proper way to spot, the second a person's hands assist the lifter it can no longer be considered a max out.
That was really impressive you didnt use your back or anything, and even if the spotter helped you balance it just a little bit , thats still a hell of alot of weight, good job man
I fucking hate it when spotters tell me 'all you brah all you'. Just shut the fuck up and spot me properly with an alternate grip and not your fucking butterfingers.
what is with all these teenages bullshiting about how much they lift, I am 17 and bench 650 for 12 is that good? unless you have a vid to prove it just sit there and shut up
Yeah I know it is not a lot, and when I was I teenager I pressed 315 which is not a lot compared to this dude, but those big benches don't last forever, make sure everyone is working all muscle groups.
Are you guys fucking kidding me? He benched 405 lbs but apparently it doesn't count because of PERSONAL SAFETY? Just because the spotter had his hands lightly against the bar JUST in case, he did all of the work?
the ca. 5 kg the spotter takes with his fingers clearly made the difference between fail and succes in this video.....i also had a spotter yesterday while i benched 160 kg yesterday and he helped me with his fingers...he said he havent done anything but i know that without his help i havent done the 160 kg...because even on good days i only bench 155
@MrBenlally he is clearly stuck... once the spotter touches the bar, officially, it does not count. only the spotter and lifter know how much he helped, and its obvious it was quite a bit.
Well you don't know how hard he was touching, it could have made a huge difference. I have a lot of respect for the lift but, it doesn't count. He could have easily made that lift 10-15 lbs lighter.
@MrBenlally If you've ever benched in your entire fucking life before you'd know that even the slightest touch can help you put up a lot more than you normally could.
@reppinitBMX Very true, have to agree on that. He can probably bench a lot but the spotter needs to stand back and let him get it up, when he needs help and cant push anymore then assist.
@MrBenlally u r a dumbass. how can you be sure the spotter didnt help him? wait...you cant! and as official records go, if the bart is touched it doesnt count. one can be safe without the spotter touching the bar dumbass.
@MrBenlally The biggest point where you can tell it's not all him is when the spotter says "It's all you" It's a boost to try and tell the person benching "we're taking a little weight off, but you're still doing well"
@MrBenlally you can clearly see the bar pretty much stop before the spotter touches it. he wouldnt have got it on his own. if you cant lift it, dont claim you can.
@Troywb2 yes i know it would have obviously gone up more slowly, but there is a difference between pretty much stopped, and still travelling. and that was near the bottom too
@MrBenlally In the powerlifting, this mean no lift and thats the point, the other is, if he fucks it up, spotter cant save him anyway with two fingers.
@MrBenlally I can pull upwards of 100 lbs spotting the same way. Sorry. If spotter touches the bar, it's not an official lift. You look at the thumbs down ratio and you know most people agree.
@RandomStevie Actually, the fact that the spotter even slightly touches the bar is a huge advantage. NO you can't pull 100 lbs from that position, but this kid definattely would not have even come close to getting that locked out without the spotter. I'd say 350 lbs as a max for him.
@MrBenlally Dude, no. When the spotter touches his hands to the bar it can take a good 20lbs off the weight. The kid is strong, definitely. But it wasn't a "clean" lift.
If calling me an idiot because you lack the understanding of weight stabilization, and why that is a monumental aspect of being able to lift 405lbs independently in free weights, makes you the moron who has no understanding of physics. But anyways, let me break it down in another way. Why is it easier to lift more on a universal machine bench press than it is on free weights? BTW....there are girls out there who weigh 150 lbs that can bench 400lbs. Look up Kara Bohigian on Youtube. So whoopty do
It makes a big difference to have the spotter even tap the bar because part of the lift has to do with stabilizing and balancing that weight.. most people who lift would be able to do 30-50lbs more on their max if they got assistance like that. If I were you I would lose that spotter and get one that knows what he is doing and allow you and you alone to lift that by yourself. But nonethless that's impressive if your only 17 and you weigh about 200-220?
@reggg246 FAIL. He did have an arch in his back and besides... do you not know anything about lifting? It is ok to have an arch as long as your butt does not come off of the bench! Learn the basics!!
@reggg246 LMFAO you fuckin moron! I bench over 405... I arch my back - LIKE EVERY OTHER HEAVY POWER LIFTER - and have NEVER hurt my back.... You only hurt your back when you dont know what you are doing... the arch is to push your shoulder blades into the bench harder you dumb ass.... learn2bench!!
@magnusxl007 your probably on steroids if your getting so mad over somebody telling you the right thing!...btw he is right, that is perfect form, i went to collage and studied physical education and your not supposed to arch because it doesn't work the back muscles and abs that you use in order to keep your back on the bench and most of all it leads to injury
@b1r11a1n actually I'm not mad nor am I on roids... but I can tell you clearly went to "collage"... First, its college and if you actually went there you would know how to spell it. Second, you do not use lower back muscles when benching.... you use your upper back (for stabilization) so as long as this does not leave the bench you are fine. Your lower back leaving i.e. arching has nothing to do with this. Third, your core should stay tight no matter what... so again, a moot point.
@b1r11a1n everybody makes typos but if you knew anything about benching, you would know that it works most of the muscles in your body... it works the upper back and chest area the most but it indeed does work your abs and lower back
@b1r11a1n Not supposed to arch? A proper arch plants the shoulder blades on the bench, and more readily engages the lower pecs (the strongest part of pectoralis major), in addition to greater integration of the latissimus dorsi for stabilization during the lift, than a flat back does; there is a reason why every powerlifter out there uses this technique. And no, it doesn't lead to injury; a properly arched back allows the lifter to more easily tuck the elbows, preserving the rotator cuffs.
@RebelWrestler45 thats all true but the average person doesn't know how to arch properly. I have seen 2 people arch too much that there shoulder blades are no longer on the bench and they dropped the weight which would've probably killed them if they didn't have spotters. but really what i was trying to get at is that a person that can bench 405 without an arch is stronger than a person that can bench it with an arch
@reggg246 wow your a fucking douche arching your back is the way your supposed to bench, your spine has a natural arch and by arching the back you put more epmhasis on the pectoral and lat muscles to draw power from. if you didnt arch your back your shoulders would roll forward and youd be pushing with your delts instead of the chest. Learn the fucking basics of form of lifting you weak piece of shit, your probably another curl warrior, go fucking cheat curl in the squat rack dip shit
@tylerneihoff1 you dont know that fuck face! he could have helped him! as ive learned when you are lift at anytime during the lift someone touches the bar it doesnt count soooo suck my dick..
@spongebobflatass Did i ass it was a competition fuck ass? No i didnt youre dumb anytime you touch the bar the lift doesnt count! and how the fuck would you know if he helped him or not??????? were you physically there when he touched the bar? NO DIDNT THINK SO! GET FUCKED PUSSY!
@spongebobflatass Are you twelve? What the hell is wrong with you? That's called a spot. Any time you max out, you need someone for safety. Do you see the spotter make ANY effort whatsoever? No. He just has his hands LIGHTLY touching the bar so that he can quickly catch the bar if it falls.
Go hit puberty and learn how to lift before you tell someone a rep doesn't count.
@Sub0DonkeyPunch Are you a fucking idiot? and yep you got it right 12 yesterday ya big piece of shit! When you stop for a lift like that youre hards are supposed to be like right next to the bar not TOUCHING BECAUSE THAT WOULD PRETTY MUCH BE CONSIDERED HELPING!!!!!!! SO GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE BIG PUSSY! Let me guess your max out on the bench is 100 pounds? Go suck and dick and learn what counts and what doesnt before you come on here jockin my cock alright so go get fucked!
dude...if u bench press every day and just be focus on that for months...u can bench press that weight in no time....its about the grip, strength and technique.....
I am not muh into power lifting, not at all...all i care about is looking good...
I always say Tarzan gets more chicks than Mr.Olympia :)
@tyrepikke and i still get laid :) bottom line, if ur focus constantly on bench pressing each and every time u hit the gym....u can get there.... There is a dude at my gym he weighs 180lbs , 5'6 and bench presses 370lbs 6-9 times, why? because thats all he does for competition, every time he hits the gym...and shocks those meat-heads lol
@muratshawn That's so true. If you stay focused on one thing, keep doing it lots of times a week, every week, under several months/years it's in our nature to grow better at it. But yeah I don't think the kid can do even half the weight in dumbbell press :/
Some people that comment have no clue. Like this kid ain't 17, I don't know if he is or not but why would he lie about that? Saying he is on steroids is just fools who can not put up that kind of poundage and wouldn't even try. As far as the spotter, I sometimes spot like that. Hands at the bar not helping but ready to grab the bar if needed. Someone said he will be dead by 30, what is that thought process about? At this weight in high school he is where most college football players are doing.
The spotter helped so it doesn't count. See how much you can do without someone else touching the bar. A corrupt spotter could easily make it 100 pounds lighter for the person bench pressing.
Illegal lift. There's no doubt you're strong for a 17yo. But this lift is with the help of the spotter. Spotter: hands off the bar! You can clearly see you're stuck a few inches above the chest, and at that point the spotter helps you getting over that point.
I'm a 5 year old girl and i benched 300lbs with no spotter. is that good?

@MrBenlally u r a dumbass. how can you be sure the spotter didnt help him? wait...you cant! and as official records go, if the bart is touched it doesnt count. one can be safe without the spotter touching the bar dumbass.
Necronaut 6 months ago
@MrBenlally The biggest point where you can tell it's not all him is when the spotter says "It's all you" It's a boost to try and tell the person benching "we're taking a little weight off, but you're still doing well"
zeeKxxL 6 months ago
@MrBenlally you can clearly see the bar pretty much stop before the spotter touches it. he wouldnt have got it on his own. if you cant lift it, dont claim you can.
JamieandhisIbanez 6 months ago
@JamieandhisIbanez That's called a threshold guy...... You can break them and get it up so he could of gotten it.
Troywb2 6 months ago
@Troywb2 yes i know it would have obviously gone up more slowly, but there is a difference between pretty much stopped, and still travelling. and that was near the bottom too
JamieandhisIbanez 6 months ago
@MrBenlally In the powerlifting, this mean no lift and thats the point, the other is, if he fucks it up, spotter cant save him anyway with two fingers.
MrKrezz 5 months ago
@MrBenlally I can pull upwards of 100 lbs spotting the same way. Sorry. If spotter touches the bar, it's not an official lift. You look at the thumbs down ratio and you know most people agree.
PJ4pt2L 5 months ago 2
@PJ4pt2L If you can pull 100lbs with your hands in that position, I can shit ice cream cones out of my belly button.
RandomStevie 4 months ago 16
@RandomStevie Actually, the fact that the spotter even slightly touches the bar is a huge advantage. NO you can't pull 100 lbs from that position, but this kid definattely would not have even come close to getting that locked out without the spotter. I'd say 350 lbs as a max for him.
myles755 1 month ago
@myles755 Well. Check USPF for his REGISTERED MEET 405 bench press. 350lbs...you're a funny one.
RandomStevie 1 month ago
@RandomStevie Hahaha are you on this kids nuts or something? Just relax ass clown...
myles755 1 month ago
@MrBenlally nope he didnt do any work that guy curled it all, i know it
128james 4 months ago
@MrBenlally Dude, no. When the spotter touches his hands to the bar it can take a good 20lbs off the weight. The kid is strong, definitely. But it wasn't a "clean" lift.

@kdlt235
thank you. someone that knows whats going on.
the rest of you stop your fucking crying and grow up.
ULTSSXXX 3 months ago
If calling me an idiot because you lack the understanding of weight stabilization, and why that is a monumental aspect of being able to lift 405lbs independently in free weights, makes you the moron who has no understanding of physics. But anyways, let me break it down in another way. Why is it easier to lift more on a universal machine bench press than it is on free weights? BTW....there are girls out there who weigh 150 lbs that can bench 400lbs. Look up Kara Bohigian on Youtube. So whoopty do
LlyodRobertsonCTV 9 months ago
great lift but next time no spot help dude. You got 350 easy though.

The spotted didn't help you. Its just a placebo effect search it up.

XowntXihqX 9 months ago
It makes a big difference to have the spotter even tap the bar because part of the lift has to do with stabilizing and balancing that weight.. most people who lift would be able to do 30-50lbs more on their max if they got assistance like that. If I were you I would lose that spotter and get one that knows what he is doing and allow you and you alone to lift that by yourself. But nonethless that's impressive if your only 17 and you weigh about 200-220?
reymantic1977 9 months ago
@reymantic1977 "30-50lbs having the spotter even tap the bar?" .....Your an idiot

slimbw93 10 months ago
Perfect form too, never arched his back
reggg246 10 months ago
@reggg246 FAIL. He did have an arch in his back and besides... do you not know anything about lifting? It is ok to have an arch as long as your butt does not come off of the bench! Learn the basics!!
magnusxl007 10 months ago
@magnusxl007 Okay faggot, if you wanna get your lower back hurt you can do anythig you want. LEARN THE BASICS SLAPDICK!!
reggg246 10 months ago
@reggg246 LMFAO you fuckin moron! I bench over 405... I arch my back - LIKE EVERY OTHER HEAVY POWER LIFTER - and have NEVER hurt my back.... You only hurt your back when you dont know what you are doing... the arch is to push your shoulder blades into the bench harder you dumb ass.... learn2bench!!
magnusxl007 10 months ago
@magnusxl007 Hahaaa ill believe it when i see it. and learn to train everything and not just bench killer
reggg246 10 months ago
@magnusxl007 your probably on steroids if your getting so mad over somebody telling you the right thing!...btw he is right, that is perfect form, i went to collage and studied physical education and your not supposed to arch because it doesn't work the back muscles and abs that you use in order to keep your back on the bench and most of all it leads to injury
b1r11a1n 9 months ago
@b1r11a1n actually I'm not mad nor am I on roids... but I can tell you clearly went to "collage"... First, its college and if you actually went there you would know how to spell it. Second, you do not use lower back muscles when benching.... you use your upper back (for stabilization) so as long as this does not leave the bench you are fine. Your lower back leaving i.e. arching has nothing to do with this. Third, your core should stay tight no matter what... so again, a moot point.
magnusxl007 9 months ago 2
@b1r11a1n everybody makes typos but if you knew anything about benching, you would know that it works most of the muscles in your body... it works the upper back and chest area the most but it indeed does work your abs and lower back
b1r11a1n 9 months ago
@b1r11a1n Not supposed to arch? A proper arch plants the shoulder blades on the bench, and more readily engages the lower pecs (the strongest part of pectoralis major), in addition to greater integration of the latissimus dorsi for stabilization during the lift, than a flat back does; there is a reason why every powerlifter out there uses this technique. And no, it doesn't lead to injury; a properly arched back allows the lifter to more easily tuck the elbows, preserving the rotator cuffs.
RebelWrestler45 9 months ago
@RebelWrestler45 thats all true but the average person doesn't know how to arch properly. I have seen 2 people arch too much that there shoulder blades are no longer on the bench and they dropped the weight which would've probably killed them if they didn't have spotters. but really what i was trying to get at is that a person that can bench 405 without an arch is stronger than a person that can bench it with an arch
b1r11a1n 9 months ago
@reggg246 wow your a fucking douche arching your back is the way your supposed to bench, your spine has a natural arch and by arching the back you put more epmhasis on the pectoral and lat muscles to draw power from. if you didnt arch your back your shoulders would roll forward and youd be pushing with your delts instead of the chest. Learn the fucking basics of form of lifting you weak piece of shit, your probably another curl warrior, go fucking cheat curl in the squat rack dip shit

And suck your dick? Youre asking another guy, to suck your dick? HA

@spongebobflatass Did i ass it was a competition fuck ass? No i didnt youre dumb anytime you touch the bar the lift doesnt count! and how the fuck would you know if he helped him or not??????? were you physically there when he touched the bar? NO DIDNT THINK SO! GET FUCKED PUSSY!
spongebobflatass 7 months ago
@spongebobflatass Are you twelve? What the hell is wrong with you? That's called a spot. Any time you max out, you need someone for safety. Do you see the spotter make ANY effort whatsoever? No. He just has his hands LIGHTLY touching the bar so that he can quickly catch the bar if it falls.
Go hit puberty and learn how to lift before you tell someone a rep doesn't count.
Sub0DonkeyPunch 7 months ago
@Sub0DonkeyPunch Are you a fucking idiot? and yep you got it right 12 yesterday ya big piece of shit! When you stop for a lift like that youre hards are supposed to be like right next to the bar not TOUCHING BECAUSE THAT WOULD PRETTY MUCH BE CONSIDERED HELPING!!!!!!! SO GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE BIG PUSSY! Let me guess your max out on the bench is 100 pounds? Go suck and dick and learn what counts and what doesnt before you come on here jockin my cock alright so go get fucked!

tyrepikke 11 months ago
@tyrepikke and i still get laid :) bottom line, if ur focus constantly on bench pressing each and every time u hit the gym....u can get there.... There is a dude at my gym he weighs 180lbs , 5'6 and bench presses 370lbs 6-9 times, why? because thats all he does for competition, every time he hits the gym...and shocks those meat-heads lol
muratshawn 11 months ago
@muratshawn That's so true. If you stay focused on one thing, keep doing it lots of times a week, every week, under several months/years it's in our nature to grow better at it. But yeah I don't think the kid can do even half the weight in dumbbell press :/
blondiwithstyle 10 months ago
Some people that comment have no clue. Like this kid ain't 17, I don't know if he is or not but why would he lie about that? Saying he is on steroids is just fools who can not put up that kind of poundage and wouldn't even try. As far as the spotter, I sometimes spot like that. Hands at the bar not helping but ready to grab the bar if needed. Someone said he will be dead by 30, what is that thought process about? At this weight in high school he is where most college football players are doing.
mondo78 11 months ago
It's all you, PLUS my two hands alleviating several considerable pounds from the lift......
DeusUniversa10 1 year ago
The spotter helped so it doesn't count. See how much you can do without someone else touching the bar. A corrupt spotter could easily make it 100 pounds lighter for the person bench pressing.
john17972 1 year ago 2
@john17972 he held his hand under the bar, it doesnt look like he actually took any weight off the lift.
tortfootball35 1 year ago
@john17972
i doubt he took off 100 pounds with his fingers, 10 pounds at most. Its still very impressive.
and that is the proper way to spot someone lifting heavy weights.

fastfreedom 1 year ago
Illegal lift. There's no doubt you're strong for a 17yo. But this lift is with the help of the spotter. Spotter: hands off the bar! You can clearly see you're stuck a few inches above the chest, and at that point the spotter helps you getting over that point.
