  • Eddie's voice has so much power...it's almost better than the original...I hate to say that but Eddie's voice is AMAZING

  • @iamapsychrn i agree with you !!!!!

  • @The84Damy Have you seen their movie? In it Pete Townshend tells Eddie "I've been waiting a long time to meet you!" I guess Rodger Daultry wanted to meet Eddie and Eddie said "no way" b/c The Who was his ultimate band...the movie also shows Pearl Jam's second performance the did and Eddie is hiding behind his hair....check it out. It's on Netflix for free....Pearl Jam is so cool....no charge. Oh BTW I googled Eddie's net worth...even with everything he has given away he's worth $80 million

  • @iamapsychrn Ya I watched the Pearl Jam 20 film also....best film on a rock band Ive ever seen!

  • Amazing!

  • lo unico que no me gusta de esta canción es que no dura 2 horas

  • oooooooooooft! brilliant :)

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH CONCHETMADREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ME VOY CORTAOOOOOOOOOO IDFASJADFSIDSF

  • Yes the original is better, but understand that the original may very well be the best rock song ever created. Pearl Jam does a hell of a job with it and their passion is what makes it great.

  • @pjstp22 It really could be the best rock song. :D

  • D++++++++++++

  • the original version is always better

  • So much passion. Doesn't beat the original but damn do I love Eddie's commitment! Still an amazing cover.

  • Is it there anything that Pearl Jam can.t do?? If they where Greak, they would be the Gods of music

  • @rgst1 well, look at Eddie's beard, they might as well be

  • @rgst1 or broke :D

  • Great cover, but I think I prefer the original.

  • @obamaforprez2008 And obama might very well be the worst President in the history of the world ,so W T F do you know

  • This song gave me goosebumps, twice

  • Y vuelve Pearl Jam después de 6 años. Allí estaré.

  • Why do they keep showing the douche rythm guitarist while mccready is playing

  • @SCoop923 Because that douche rhythm guitarist is Stone Gossard. You can thank him for Ten.

  • Ed can really do justice to the Who songs and I have never seen him look better!

  • Para cerrar el viernes con harto animo, buen fin de semana para todos.!!!

  • The Last time i he5d this song "jimmyearl " had only 26 thumbs up..it's been a long time

  • It sucks Dave Krusen didn't stay with them he'd have a way better feel for this song

  • maravilhosossssssssssssssssssssss precisa mais???

  • dude,lame!

  • Ween cooverr!!!!!....

Y ud. me tenia que haber traido un pandero!! jajajaja...

  • I saw them play Baba O Riley for an encore back in like 04 and OMG! It was the most amazing thing Ive ever seen at a concert... well besides the things I saw at Woodstock 99 lol

  • Long live The Who!!! (and Pearl Jam too of course)

  • Awwww I NEED to see this song live!!!

  • @Elbereth84 yes.... i almost die singing there! totally worth it! =)

  • @dthommo10 ... Really??? Why dont you listen to him

  • Pearl Jam always has the best audiences

  • Jeez, pick a tempo and stick with it.

  • Reverence and allegiance to a timeless piece of music.

  • I love The Who and this is a fantastic version of the song, what a voice!

  • I was there

    Awesome, Incredible, Wonderful

Please Come Back in theNext Lollapalooza in Chile April 2011....:D

  • I saw Wolfmother back in August (In Kansas City on their first headline America Tour) and they closed with Joker and the Thief. Came back for an encore with Vagabond. Andrew stockdale then looked at the keyboardist and gave him a quick nod and started playing Baba O'Riley. It was probably the most awesome thing I've ever seen. Not including the real rendition though. That's too much for words.

  • awesome

  • it doesn't matter if pearl jam or the who are playing the song, it still would get the crowd going crazy!

  • pedazo de cover de the who

  • Oh i´m on the wrong site. I wanted to listen to one of the best bands ever.

  • the loves PJ and PJ loves the who!@# period

  • Wolfmother also cover this song in their concerts in Jakarta on 10 october 2010,,

now i'm waiting for Pearl Jam do the same thing when their concert in Jakarta next year..so Come On Eddie!!

  • great cover

  • The power of eddies voice is scary, seriously amazing. I CRAVE MORE!!

  • 2:00 Fucking amazing voice

  • Goddammit i feel ashamed for only just have discovered Pearl Jam :S Great group. Any of you guys can suggest their greatest stuff?

  • @NikMetalEx get rearviewmirror, its a greatest hits album. ten, vs an yield are my favorite albums but the greatest hit (2cd's) album is a good start. then just pick your favorite songs and get the albums that have those songs and there you go. hope this helps

  • @NikMetalEx The only way to listen to Pearl Jam is to start with Ten and go in chronological order. I'm over a year in and I'm still not done. Trust me, you wont be disappointed.

  • @walonsubi Thxs for the tip checking it out now

  • eddie vedder is the hotest man on the planet!!!!!!

  • pearl jam rock with a greatest cover of the who

  • Nice cover of one of the best and descriptive songs of a generation.

  • @Wollenschrank Dude, you wouldn't know good music if it kicked you in the balls. Because it just did.

  • @Wollenschrank His name is Eddie Vedder, and he could kick your ass, so i suggest you shut up.

  • @Wollenschrank Yeah because the chick that sings in Tokio Hotel is so much better looking...

  • best cover ever

  • Well said Jimmy, people should really wake up and smell the coffee..... Ed & crew do quite a few "tributes" to their fav musicians..... xxx

  • You bring the peanut butter, they bring the JAM!

  • @Jimmyearl...............well said!

  • The Who lives through bands like this.

  • best pearl jam cover ever!!

  • i love pearl jam and the who this is so great

  • Eh? Roger Daltry had nothing on Eddie Vedde,r and I was born to Dupont Circle hippies in 1965 ~ come on, there were greats and there were not-so-greats in the 60's & 70's, and Roger Daltry & liek Rod Stewart were not so great. Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, Patti Smith, Nirvana & Pearl Jam, oh and some Jim Carroll for okay music and freakin' phenomenal poetry, now those people were geniuses :) and some of them even saved my life!

  • awesome

  • Effin JAMMIN!

  • Ament plays some very fine bass right here!

  • Eddie sang it beautifully...so pure.....EarGASM

  • Wish i was there!!! Damn good show!

  • his profile looks a bit like a young pete townsend

  • tempo is too fast. not bad, though.

  • Que bueno Eddie!!!

  • pearjl jam is good, the who is god

  • i think this is an amazing cover... Eddie Vedder does a great job on vocals, especially for it being live.

  • @smhwv1512 If you can't do i live then you can't sing....

  • @Annonymus121 why don't you tell that to roger daltrey then... either way, eddie sounds like the eddie of 20 years ago, so i don't see a problem here

  • @BobMillahhh Daltey can sing live very well

  • @Annonymus121 "daltey" is old as fuck... did you see the super bowl? "daltey" hasn't been able to sing live in at least the last 20 years

  • @BobMillahhh Yeah I saw a vid from 07 it was quote good actually

  • I love him

  • Good cover. Original song is way better though.

  • I always respect Pete Townshend who made this song.

This PJ's cover is ofcourse good !

  • Just as good as The Who if not better! I get chills when PJ plays anything.

  • CHILE

  • agree with jimmyearl...the Who are the Who. there'll never be another Daltry, Townsend, Moon.......but this version of this song is great

  • this is bad ass

  • Only it sucks. U cant get this on itunes unless u buy the album....

  • That was EPIC!! pearl Jam singing the who. Haha amazing

  • Muy Buena...

  • thankss!!!!!

  • this is a good cover. but if you listen it shows how great keith moon was on the drums. he was totally insane but what a drummer. nobody IMO is close to him outside of john bonham.

  • @MrFlatiron Dave Grohl. Awesome and surely a contender!?

  • the vocals was good here.

  • Good, good!

  • never liked perl jam then saw them at reading festival in 2005ish and reli got into them

  • Wow. Really impressive version of this classic song. Great job.

  • is it raining?

  • grandioso el mejor cover de pearl jam, y estuve ahy presenciando espectacular

  • I was there

  • entonces responde en español

  • anyone who says pj should not cover this song is an absolute moron. They do this song way more than justice. The Who is a great band. PJ is a great band. Bands usually cover shit they loved growing up. Would you rather PJ cover Carry Under woody

  • one word:AWESOME!

  • whats up with Stone's guitar @ the beginning??

  • Why are you guys trying to compare both bands?? Pearl Jam isnt trying to sound like The Who!!! Theyre just jam the song!! This is their way to pay tribute to one of their greatest influences, thats it!! Pearl Jam sounds like Pearl Jam, they have their own sound, if they play this song it is because they like it and are playing it their own way.

I hate when everybody tries to compare and discuss who is better than who, just enjoy the fkn song!!!

  • @jimmyearl

Right on it is a cool upbeat tribute. Great job.

  • @jimmyearl Pearl Jam loves The Who!!!...Don't we ALL????? Can't wait for the Superbowl. Tear the fucking building down, Pete!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • omg you just exactly wrote what i was thinking.

don't think it's intresting for you, but it just made me really happy to see that i'm not the only one who hates all these comparisons you find everywhere..even in music...

  • @jimmyearl i agree, there both brilliant rock bands from different era's. Great version, they didn't fall into the trap of trying to copy the WHO.

  • @jimmyearl That crowd sounds pretty damn good considering their first language is Spanish, more often called Castilian, as it has a little bit of Deutch aka German mixed in it. English is their second language I think but Castilian is the official language. Ok, I'm done. lol!

  • @Satonica Im from Mexico, and trust me, the 2 times they have come, the crowd here goes crazy even though spanish is our first language... Actually the right term should be Castillan as you say, since "Spanish" means "from Spain" and in Spain there are 4 regional languages, Castillan (the official Spanish language), Basque, Catalan and Galician. Hehe, cheers!!!

  • @jimmyearl this song could been written for Eddie suits his vocals so much

  • INDEED! if they'd watch the VH1 Rock Honors they'd know what you're talkin about. Not to Mention Veder being close friends with Pete.

  • I thought it was pretty good, doesnt match the Who tho

  • man, that was okay, but shit the Who is miles better than Pearl Jam their guitars were waaay to screechy especially in Pete Townshend's solo. how do you fuck up a seven second solo? I love Pearl Jam but like Pjaypt i dont think they should do the Who. (lol that rhymed)

  • I don't say they shouldn't do the Who. Only that the Who's version is better; and I agree with demravager.

  • The Who's version is much better, man! Not that this one is bad, but they can't compete with Entwistle, Moon and the others (the above mentioned are a class by themselves)

  • @Pjaypt

This is a good cover, probably better than most other musicians can do. But it's the Who. Trying to cover the Who is like trying to be Led Zeppelin or Jimi Hendrix. You can't sound like them, you just can't.

In fairness to Pearl Jam, I doubt anyone can do Pearl Jam the way they do. It's fair play.

  • agreed!

  • @demravager I'm a fan of all the bands mentioned, I think this is a pretty damn good cover, especially to play live (it would be stupid to do a studio version).

I think Tool did an awesome job covering No Quarter. The best covers are when a band puts their touch on it rather than trying to emulate to original band exactly.

  • I was there, but the second day...

    Pearl Jam, vuelvan a Chile!!!!

  • @lectropro ... No, not at all. Pete was an amazing songwriter and a damn good guitarist, but if he hadn't have been lucky enough to be surround with 3 of the most talented musicians of his era, the Who would not be half of what they were.

  • WOW!Awesome! It's very hard to keep the main guitar riff of this song especially at that speed.Greatly underrated band.PJ!

  • they are all very good individually

but as a band, they are not THE WHO

  • not saying its better than the who's but wooooooow pearl jam is amazing at everything

  • nicely put

  • I spent hours playing the beiginning of the song by ear thank pearl jam I actually figured it out now

  • lakerfan92626, are you serious?! If you are you have a serious ineptitude for music appreciation. 1) This is a poor Pearl Jam performance, they are usually way better, they made many mistakes. 2) Mike McCready is nowhere near Pete Townshend as far as musical ability or stage persona. 3) Jeff Ament does not compare to John Entwistle, Ament leaves out so many notes in this performance that it really takes away from the song. 4) The Who actually WROTE THE SONG, which was way before it's time.

  • Sorry sdrawkcabdaeri, I have to agree with lakerfan. As much as I love The Who, Pearl Jam really pull this one together better than The Who ever did. And Pete Townshend is quite an average guitarest, especially compared to Mccready, and Mccready's "stage presense" as you call it, is amazingly energetic and engages really well with the audience. Pete just stands there circling his arm around.

  • @hophead84 dude, really? I am a HUGE PJ fan since Versus, was the first CD I bought at age 12 or so, but you can't call this cover better than The Who, it's good, but no.

  • Actually, Pete wrote the song. Now whether Pete=The Who is another discussion.

  • What drugs are you on Lakerfan? This doesn't hold a candle to The Who.

  • one of the best grunge bands covering one of the best classic rock songs

  • mfzkaz no they actually used tape for the keyboard part but the rest was performed in full.

  • Os caras são muito bons ! Quando tocaram no Brasil, colocaram abaixo o Pacaembu !

  • this was almost as good as the blue man group's cover :'-D

  • LONG LIVE PORNO

  • LANG LEBE PEARL JAM !!

  • LUNGA VITA AI PEARL JAM

  • LARGA VIDA A PEARL JAM!!!...

  • LONG LIVE PEARL JAM!

  • I Was There

    it was fucking perfect!

  • The intro is cheezy - but by the same token The Who used a recording at "live" shows.

  • LONG LIVE THE WHO!!!!

  • I was there too...it was the perfect timing to go to Chile...That concert was the best concer I've ever been!!!

  • Putting it at that tempo makes it sound like a high school cover.

More power to them of course; they're obvious Who fans!

  • If this recording of mighty Pearl Jam, covering one of Rock n Roll's anthems, in front of thousands of screaming fans, sounds like a high school cover, then all I can say is that I wish I went to your high school mate!!!

  • I'm talking more about the tempo than anything. They make way too many flubs for it to sound like a world class band is playing.

But as I said, we're both Who fans - there's always something we can agree on!

  • this version's more exciting

  • really well done, i like the who's better but this is still awesome, it really captures the essence that the who portrayed

  • all the who fans are gonna hate me.. but hell this cover owns the original. sick guitar intro, eddies voice,

  • Owns the original ? You gotta be joking. The angst and anger of The Who are what makes the song. Eddies voice is good but , imho, The Who, hands down

  • well, i guess im just a grunge fan.

  • Well you're not a music fan thats a fact.

  • Awsome voice for this masterpiece!!!

It´s Quadrophenia all over again :)

  • amazing

  • Eddie can sing like NO other.

  • hell yeah!!!

  • he sings allot like rodger daltrey
