I worked on F-14s and when we were at Red Flag at Nellis Air Force base, they made us play by their rules so the AF had a chance. We couldn't simulate using Phoenix missiles because the AF didn't have an air to air missile with that range. Even so, we held our own against F-15s. I agree the Eagle is a great jet, just made for a different mission than the Tomcat. You're comparing apples to oranges.
and it could never go "neck and neck" with the F-22........ As a matter of facth..... the F-15 has a 100+-0 record in dogfights....... once you can prove the F-14 can match that..... then you can start comparing it to the Raptor....
im 17 a senior went my local recruiter for a sit down we talked i took a practice asvab scored a 19 but i took an official asvab at school a few months before and scored a 36 i am currently working on memorizing the ranks, salors creed, general orders, and chain of command i not fat but not skinny either im around 5'9 195lbs 24% BMI no record no tats perfect health i do wear glasses yet he still seem a little unimpressed what is the best way to get him to give me contract and let me go to meps
@jr7rockets a 36 on your ASVAB is very low....... 24% BMI in the Air Force's view is borderline. I would recommend running alot and cutting down on your BMI...... Diet in other words.....

In 2006 the Navy deemed the F-14 too expensive to operate, With the Soviets gone it's mission was over anyway, The F-18 Platform has replaced more then just the F-14. Both of those technologies require you to have at least some idea of where to look. With the range of a Trident missile there is just too much ocean to hide in. Submarine detection is a crapshoot, at best. Radar is good at finding aircraft. Stealth aircraft don't have enough payload to be a nuclear deterrent.
