Please watch Darfur - War for Water - a documentary by the Slovenian activist Tomo Kriznar. He is currently the only person who is actually helping people in Darfur and Nuba mountains, supplying them with mini cameras so that they can film their perpetrators. The criminals are afraid of appearing on these videos and the number of attacks on the tribes has decreased significantly. Tomo is dedicated to this mission and Slovenia supports him!
I'm generally a lot more of a dove than a hawk, but this situation is as bad as what Hitler did, smaller scale. The US needs to take all its troops in Iraq&Afghanistan and go to Darfur. We might actually do some good there. We're just bogged down in other 2 places.School girls being burned alive only because they are too black for the damn Arab Sudanese is about as evil as it gets. The people in Darfur just want,&I'm not afraid to say it, wealth spread to them a little, chance to better themselves.
Salutations to this man for having the heart to make this documentary. Many military folk see bad bad things then try leave behind, this man didn't. The fact that he is white and american has many so called muslims saying it's cia fix etc etc. It's not, this is the TRUTH! My family is part muslim, and the hypocrisy and hijacking of islam by wannabe arabs is something we should stand up against. Funny how African Americans think Islam is the better choice of religion as its not a product of whitey, yet look at the carnage unleashed upon Africans by Arabic Muslims... The only people in the world still enslaving Africans are Arabic Muslims, yet so many dumb ass rappers and sports figures think they're getting in touch with their roots by converting, yeah, in touch with their slave roots.
@hotchowder All religions are bloody. Nonetheless, religions are a social construct that are capable of transforming one's perspective on life for the better if all the conditions are correct.
@hotchowder As an African American and an atheist, I actually think Islam is the worst of the Abrahamic religion. Don't give me wrong Christianity and Judaism have had their bloodshed as well but Islam I hate the most.
@LoveLeafeon People don't kill over religion, for the most part. They kill for land, money, and power. To the victor--go the spoiles.
Also, don't you feel ridiculous when you call yourself an "African" American? You've probably never even been to Africa. Do you think everybody in Africa is black? Don't you know that there are many Arabs in Africa?
Why can't you just say black? Black is a nice color, and at least you won't sound like a sissy boy...
@brian8793 Sorry for being 7 months late. But if you want to go that far, calling myself black wouldn't even seem to fit because I'm brown. And yes I am aware there are all kinds of races and ethnics in Africa. We don't even have a real name for our race. And I'm female.
The title should be "The Devil Came with Islam" . Once again all of my believings and theories are confirming , muslims cant live in peace with another people different religion .
@garioldwin actually alot of the people being killed are muslim too,its more of a racial thing than a religious thing, its the arab majority killing the black minority in darfur
@garioldwin Same goes for Christianity. Same goes for Judaism, if Israel is to be seen as the world's representative of what Judaism stands for. Or do you only want to look at the bits of reality and history that fit your bigotry?
The motivations in Darfur issue are not religious.
Aren't people in Darfur also predominantly Muslim,&they just want better economic opportunities, schools, hospitals, etc. It isn't about a religion. This is all about POWER.US is afraid of war w/ China, seems to me, & too chicken shit to go into Darfur and keep SLA out.Oil, it's all abt oil,as usual and natural resources.Darfur apparently has no oil, natural gas or minerals US needs to protect.Governments don't want the right thing, they want to control/limit control of resources.
I understand that something should be done about this but it's time for the U.S. to stop being the World Police. We're not in any condition at this time to start another war. Maybe the European nations should do something about it.
@Lone1module There are enough problems in europe and north america. If we send our son's there its just a place to get killed for a problem that is not 'ours'
@Telecasterpunk not at all, but U.N is a a big gun with no bullets, they never do nothing. they do exactly what you asked me. Rwanda and Bosnia in the 90s ring any bells?
A.U and U.N need the power to do something then the problem would be resolved, 'we' as europeans always try to sort other peoples problems.
@korahaplayas I don't think anyone should trust the U.N to act as peace makers. The only real "world police" as the person stated above me are the worlds' super powers.
@cinesimonj I support the U.N. 100%. I'm quite a left wing radical and I believe their cause is truly noble and I recongize that they attempt to solve problems around the world peacfully. However, I do think that they should be more strict and use war to create peace when necessary. Diplomacy has no place in Darfur, people are dying everyday. If they won't supply the proper forces to end the genocide, somebody has to. I could honestly care less if it is the U.S.,European Countries, The U.N.,etc.
@Lone1module You know. The UK does a lot too, and we are part of europe. We were doing it since ww2. I like Americans, I do. I'm not being patronising, but you have a glory mongering attitude sometimes.
I get your basic point though, other countries should be more involved.
@Hellsconsort Much of 'the other countries are stuck removing American and Israeli mines from all over the world, so kids can walk to school without being blown up.
Yet America and Israel still see them as integral to their war machine, and of course, they make good money selling them.
America needs to take responsibility for what it has wrought - the other countries do more than they do in cleaning up their many messes, which is why they're less visible in the higher profile disasters.
@countsmyth Of course. Look at Libya, there is oil there so we go in for "humanitarian aid." If China didn't own and operate 80% (from the vid) of their oil, then we would be in there because there'd be an economic gain. Us going in there would impede Chinese oil interests, therefore, we don't.
@countsmyth hense, but the Americans sent food and supplies to dafur, even the old man thanks Americans, he also says where are the Muslims?, we are muslims, why dont they help us, when we help,
@countsmyth Of course. I wonder how many other great things would come if Darfur had oil. Maybe along with the troops, education would come to the children. Starvation would start to diminish as the American people realized the intensity of the situation (due to media coverage) and sent aid en masse to charities. Life would substantially increase for citizens of Darfur, work would be widely available, even if they were working for greedy corporations they would still have money to live.
@countsmyth which is totally why the US has little presence in South Sudan which actually has a 'sea of oil' underneath it?
Enough with the cliche arguments. Its the go to accusation for anything the US does wrong when there are a dozen different explanations behind every action of American foreign policy. The US has been the only one to send an envoy especially located to Darfur. The US gov't has sanctioned Sudan and haspassed legislation calling for US companies to divest. Educated yourself.
@countsmyth I guess you missed the part where China supports the Sudanese govt. because it controls a major oil pipeline. We could go save them and take control, saying, "you weren't helping so it's ours now." But we wont. The Bushes don't have a grudge against Sudan and we don't want to piss off China.
did i just read ' israel is not to blame for whats hapnin in gaza'? u mad?? they're the ones shooting the latest artillery...plestines throw stones, trust me no man goes to a war like that unless to defedn itself..so tink.
I can't understand this. Why are these people doing to the blacks, what the Israeli government is doing to palestinians in gaza. I cant understand the world.
I also dont understand why some wont believe that this racial genocide is occuring. Its there, just like holocaust, gaza, and other places. Muslims are capable of genocide, against one another. Dont be so naieve. These people are doing this, but the US is to chicken shit to do anything, like they arent doing anything in Gaza.
ok basicly you got two groups of people, the black arab muslums who are the "bad guys" and the black ethnic africans who are the good guys" however the Sudan gov is paying the "bad guys" to kill the "good guys" hope that makes sense
p.s im only telling oyu what i learned in social studies this week lol
the Palestinians are keeping there activities under-wraps because if we saw there behavior, we would be doing to them what Israel is doing. Palestine always breaks there peace treaties and attacks Israel and Israel always responds within minutes. It is called Jihad, Palestine is fighting for there lord "Allah".
I assure you all the news about Israel is hype, they are not to blame.
I just watched this documentary tonight at a local university. It was moving, thought-provoking, disturbing. The descriptors could go on and on. I wish we'd learn our lesson. Humanity is what every living breathing person on this earth deserves. I know that I'll never stop giving everyone that. I hope others will do the same.
the irony of this yank piece of shit accusing Khartoum's forces of genocide whilst his former employees the US military were busy dropping white phosphorus on Fallujah, torturing prisoners and generally acting like the criminals we know they are. In fact I wonder if the captain's battalion committed any war crimes themselves when he led them into Iraq in '03.
If the government doesn't give a fuck, you can't make it give a fuck unless you create something of economical or political interest.
Sudan is not a communist state that the West is trying to convert to capitalism; Sudan doesn't have the oil fields of Iraq and Afghanistan - they are just 'poor expendable Africans', it's no different from Rwanada. As harsh and cruel as it sounds, that is the reality.
"Sand and Sorrow" is also another great documentary.
What a brave, upstanding man Brian is. To even expose himself to such a different role, an unarmed observer in a region of the world where marines can make a substantial difference. Most of the slaughtered Dafurians are ponds in a complex, political struggle played out by different nations; especially China which is hindering the ability of the U.S. to flex muscle since they're intertwined with the oil pipeline. West needs a bounty on Janjaweed, mercenaries, trained can eradicate em and prevail.
Send in the bounty hunters! But, seriously, I was thinking that, too.People are discussing while in Darfur one village is burned to the ground after another.Maybe it's time to think outside the box and to raise funds to send in mercenaries to protect at least western Darfur.I guess to sustain that would be astronomically costly, but it's time Darfur had a chance to fight back (equip&train Darfur troops maybe).I'm generally for peaceful answer, but sometimes force can't be avoided.
I, quite literally, cannot believe this. I look around my town and my life. I see cars going by. I concern myself with what I am going to have to eat tonight. I see people in malls buying and on TV chearing. The idea that this kind of dispicable practice (genocide) is real is absurd to me. I truly do not understand this place we are in. I am so saddened and numbed by this. Will there be no end? I believe that it's possible, just not probable. We need an International Grudge Erasing day!!
It's about empire. Why do wars happen? The CIA had people on the ground when the Rwanda civil war started. The CIA helps starts chaos so that corporations can go in and exploit the resources and get them on the cheap. the Egyptian area "horn of africa" is the entrance to Africa and it must be controlled by empire. Check out John Perkins books. Here's an interview: revolutionbroadcasting com / archives/interviews / John-Perkins-20080628.mp3
What you say makes sense, but will the people from the CIA country believe in what you me and the rest of the world believs in? They (innocent Americans) are being fooled by their govt as well. So, what next?
The people are either dumb or corrupt. Luckily, there's more dumb people than corrupt people so there is still hope in educating and bringing the truth to the people.
there is no "fooling" going on here, we get news of genocide all the time, its just a matter of caring, plus the us is in a war, and the economy is in a recession, a country can only do so much. do not talk badly about countries you have never visited and people you have never met.
You see the Chinese have already seized the oil over there and thus there is no incentive for the u.s to sent troops to actually FREE a country for ONCE!(hehe)
I've just watched this documentary, I can't help myself from crying, esp. when the teacher said that this our country but we have no land and sobbed with all the pictures of people brutally killed by Arabs and Sudanese soldiers. Sudan is in Africa, why do Arabs evict these African people in their own land?? Another refugee even said that they are also Muslims but there is no help from the Islamic countries or Arabs. Please stop killing people out of their land!! Stop the Sudanese genocide!!
Probably those "devils on horseback" are Darfuri rebels rather than Sudanese paramilitaries. You never know. You didn't even talk to them. How do you know who they are?
This isn't the first time genocide has happened and as for Arabs evicting Africans, many Arabs ARE Africans. Genocide happens and it's almost always that NO ONE does anything about it. First it was China, Germany, Vietnam and now Sudan. Know what they have in common? No one helps because they don't want to help. they want the best for them, but many don't do anything about it and let others handle it. And I'm sick and tired of people saying what you're saying and not doing anything about it.
Are you thick or what? All Sudanese are Africans. In fact the people of Darfur are as black, Muslim & Arab-speaking as those in Khartoum. For people like this dumb American soldier to spin this conflict as Arabs vs. black Africans is just typical. He is a Bush supporter aswell i'm sure and he has an agenda.
You obviously didn't see the movie- it's not like that at all. He was interviewing the Muslims there who were getting slaughtered... and it's clear his only agenda is to raise awareness and try to get the slaughter of innocents- no matter their religion, stopped.
There r, sadly, many African groups vs. 1 another, Arabs vs. "blacker", tribe vs. tribe. These animosities go back probably thousands of yrs., probably before Islam existed. That is why African continent, probably richest in resources in world, is poorest in living standards almost to a nation. He's not spinning anything. His only agenda(&I'm not a fan of most US military actions as a US taxpayer& humanitarian) is that innocents not be slaughtered because of social outcasting.
fuck, you guys are amazing. well i've signed many petitions. I will be going to africa this summer. we can only do so much. Africa must save itself ,but darfur needs a little more help.we can help them. I will help them.
we must be the changes we want to see in the world.

this is the sadest documentry i have seen in a while we need to intervine as soon as we can because they are killing innocent people i watched this in my politicle science class after watching hotel rwanda both movies have taught me so much about genocide. i encourage everyone to watch this movie
I am from Darfur. This movie make me very miserable. The bloody shit Janjaweed still killing innocent people in Darfur and Sudanese government as well. I hope UN deployed troops in Darfur.I am sure they will stop the genocide.
The joint U.N and African union peace-keeping force only consists of 26,000 troops Max.Altough a Start in is not sufficent enough for a country roughly the size of the united states. There are only about a few thousand A.U. peacekeers on the ground so far but at least they have the mandate to protect civilians. The joint U.N.-A.U. force will not be there for a few months if not longer and will not have sufficient equipment to stop this Genocide.....More NEEDS to be done.
We go by the most ignorant selfish philosophy "don't benefit us, don't care about it", it's a goddamn shame. How long has it been, 3, 4 years? Fucking ridiculous, and you'd think we would have learned from Rwanda but nope, we got the greediest person in DC so there's no hope, he's not going to help. I saw this film, Mr Steidle asked to take 10 Marines and guard a village, 11 People! That's it! But George Bush can't use his hand to sign a piece of paper to send anybody in there. Complete Bullshit
People need to see this and do something aboutit. I haven't seen anything but trailers, but i really want to see the documentary! this has to be stopped!
Yeah spread the word to everybody who is able to help. Genocide is a history that repeats itself from the Nazi regime era to the pol pot era. Believe me there will be more chaos soon to spread especially in Iraq.

So, what next?
mshl8188 3 years ago
The people are either dumb or corrupt. Luckily, there's more dumb people than corrupt people so there is still hope in educating and bringing the truth to the people.
damania 3 years ago
there is no "fooling" going on here, we get news of genocide all the time, its just a matter of caring, plus the us is in a war, and the economy is in a recession, a country can only do so much. do not talk badly about countries you have never visited and people you have never met.
stormfox1 2 years ago
What are you talking about? The US empire wants it this way. The US likes chaos so that it can have easy and cheap access to the resources.

Just finished watching it...

Stop the Sudanese genocide!!
ash0621 3 years ago 2
Wow, take it easy.
Probably those "devils on horseback" are Darfuri rebels rather than Sudanese paramilitaries. You never know. You didn't even talk to them. How do you know who they are?
inferno0020 3 years ago
This isn't the first time genocide has happened and as for Arabs evicting Africans, many Arabs ARE Africans. Genocide happens and it's almost always that NO ONE does anything about it. First it was China, Germany, Vietnam and now Sudan. Know what they have in common? No one helps because they don't want to help. they want the best for them, but many don't do anything about it and let others handle it. And I'm sick and tired of people saying what you're saying and not doing anything about it.
musikplayer610 3 years ago
Are you thick or what? All Sudanese are Africans. In fact the people of Darfur are as black, Muslim & Arab-speaking as those in Khartoum. For people like this dumb American soldier to spin this conflict as Arabs vs. black Africans is just typical. He is a Bush supporter aswell i'm sure and he has an agenda.
ivangrozny27 2 years ago
You obviously didn't see the movie- it's not like that at all. He was interviewing the Muslims there who were getting slaughtered... and it's clear his only agenda is to raise awareness and try to get the slaughter of innocents- no matter their religion, stopped.
eventhorizon 2 years ago 18
@ivangrozny27

I am from Darfur. This movie make me very miserable. The bloody shit Janjaweed still killing innocent people in Darfur and Sudanese government as well. I hope UN deployed troops in Darfur.I am sure they will stop the genocide.
waqsdew 4 years ago 2

There are many people that do, but there are international laws in place that make it very difficult to do so.

Yeah spread the word to everybody who is able to help. Genocide is a history that repeats itself from the Nazi regime era to the pol pot era. Believe me there will be more chaos soon to spread especially in Iraq.
