Of course maybe technically Boris is a better drummer but I loved all Lol's beats during the early years and he could really keep a steady rhythm. I like The Cure the best as a three-piece.
the holy hour, in your house, the drowning man, 10.15 saturday night, accuracy, the funeral party, m, primary, other voices, all cats are grey, at night, three imaginary boys, fire in cairo, play for today, splintered in her head, a forest, faith
Hey if u have all those songs recorded can u post some in here?If u could it would be nice to see "a forest", "faith" and "10 15 saturday night" in here! But if u dont have footage from any other songs or cant/dont want to post it for some reason no prob. But if u did post it that would be awesome!
@amingah jajaja demasiado bueno!!!! al fin un comentario en castellano!!!! :) esta era the cure es lo mas eran tan basicos y acelerados en sus live performance , la verdad muy buenos
thankyou for putting this up- i know they are playing some of these songs in current tours but the performances are very very different to ones from the time such as what you've put up here- thanks!
Laurence was amazeing people who say his slow drumming was boring and just their fucking idiots THE FAMOUS 3 THE 3 MUSKETEERS ROBERT SIMON AND LAURENCE FOREVER Will i remember them as THE CURE 1978-1988
aside from bootlegs, the only real compilation of earlier cure stuff is Staring at the Sea from 1985 ish. Released after Head on the Door and before Kiss Me
@GermanSTUKA Hey there is an official 4 disc collection that came out called "Join the dots" it has every single and b sides to those singles they ever released.
I'm in Australia so if it came out here i would assume was released around most of the world- it has something like 96 songs on it and it wonderfully packaged- if you want to get all the older songs then look for this- spans first recordings including stuff like "do the hansa" from there first label all the way up to about 2005
@gimmeshelter72 Yeah, Join the dots is great. I love the way it's in that nice and thick vertical hard cover album type setup. I wish more CD's came like that.
Jason has chops and is a decent rock drummer but is boring. I don't like him. but he's technically "better" than Lol. I prefer Lol's style and minimalism... but that was the extent of his abilities. Andy Anderson was the best Cure "Rock/Pop/Disco" style Drummer... but Boris will always be the most unique and interesting Cure drummer. I love his mathematic patterns.
Oh my God! What a beautiful live version, this one is! This was the time I wanted to see The Cure. They were going through a very rough time in their personal lives and the songs reflected that.
I take it you mean who said he 'was'....if you're asking this then you obviously don't know much about the history of the Cure, opinions of band members, court issues, etc......
Sorry to tell you...you're jumping to conclusions...the first time i saw & heard the Cure live was in 1978 and I've been following them ever since...at least I never thought of Lol as a "bad drummer".
I agree with you, he wasn't a bad drummer at all, but I've read reports and interviews saying that Robert never thought he was good, that he couldn't grasp the patterns for songs on The Top such as The Caterpillar, as well as having other issues, so was relegated to keyboards.....at least he was a lot better that Jason now is! Sorry to jump to conclusions....
