I know Lisa Nowak, I used to be a Plane Captain in VAQ-34. She could have been 26-28 years old at the time. She flew planes that were waiting for war with the USSR. As soon as we started an attack, these planes were to fly into enemy territory 5-10 meters off the ground jamming enemy communications and triangulating enemy radar.
That was most likely a one way flight. She volunteered.
