  • Si sente che è sardo il tipo che parla :D anche io :D

  • Murakami has amazing tsukis!

  • Foi uma grande Luta. Me inspiro muito no Kanazawa e no Murakami. Conheci o Murakami e um grande lutador.

  • que estilo hirokazu é shotokam ou ortros pq no shotokam nÂo tem 10 dam so depois que morre ai recebe em honra

  • I just had zoom421 call me an idiot and then He pointed out to me that in this video is the son of Kanazawa, hmmmmm,,,he made my point clear! neither of the men in this video is Hiro Kanazawa. thanks for making my point!

  • @covertblackledge

No prob, just trying to help a fellow old fogey in the art.

  • Neste video é Kanazawa e não é Hirokazu Kanazawa.

  • Yes, Kanazawa Nobuaki lost a tooth in that final. Two excellent karate-ka. Both embody the true spirit of karate.

  • What type of Karate does JKA use? I have took lessons from Kanazawa

  • @SupaDupaStatus

    JKA teaches shotokan karate.

  • @SupaDupaStatus I have taken lessons. or I took lessons...but never I have took.

  • kyokushin rules are better...

  • rules?

  • Did he loose a tooth ?!

  • It's a jocke??? just search shotokan oradea

  • haha sensei kanazawa fight wunderfull interessant !!

  • THE best

  • karate is the improving of our soul

  • karate is not competitive. To do so is to reduce it to a sport.

  • That's basically what Westerners did.

  • @naflodi: Well, it is what Nakayama did to make it popular around the world. Well knowing that he may be scolded for it.

  • yes, the left one is the frirt son of Hirokazu Kanazawa he's called Nobawaki

  • Kancho Kanazawa has at least 2 sons. Nabouaki and Diazo.

  • Why do people post commets if they are totally cluless? Sensei Kanazawa has 3 sons: Nobuaki, Daizo and Fumitoshi. The guys you can see here are Nobuaki Kanazawa and Manabu Murakami (the man at Master Hirokazu Kanazawa's side, his most senior student)

  • kanazawa nobuaki- son of kanazawa hirokazu

he does most of the SKIF seminars in the southern region along with manabu murakami (competitor in this vid)

  • then you would know that the "tall one" is the son of your kanazawa.

  • @covertblackledge

Man, you're an idiot. Don't you think Kanazawa had any sons?

  • i trained under kanazawa and his dad =D

best experience of my life lol

  • i thought the guy on the right was better before i knew who each were

  • Everyone please excuse acerwk he was beat up by a shotokan karate student ( a purple belt!!) after he started problems, hes just upset little boy ="(

  • acerwk, grow up you stupid little person.

  • i was at the "kancho" hirokazu kanazawa's stage in maribor (slovenjia).

    he is a great sensei

  • It is often hard for untrained observers to understand how matches like these can be effective training for real life situations, but it is all in the timing and power of their techniques. The top guys in Shotokan can often drop an attacker with a single punch...so it looks overly simple.

  • yes ronin, but between them it just seems like a quarrel,a simple fight if you like,no derogation.

  • They just take what they are doing very seriously....this "old time" shotokan kumite was much more serious than some matches we see today, with much more power expressed in the techniques.

  • 1:31 Al dente... spagetti sensa pomodoro...

  • only people who have practised karate can truly appreciate the capabilities of these great men, oss!

  • which one is which? which side is Murakami and which is Kanazawa? =]

  • kanazawa is on the left. Murakami is on the right

  • 1:36

    That's not Kanazawa Sensei.

  • It's Murakami

  • no its kanazawa i'v met him before!

don't try and mislead people please

  • Yes, i've trained with him also.

I'm not trying to mislead anyone.

  • nobuaki sensei!!!!!! banzai!

  • o.O '

  • This is a good kumite match but I really don't see this as raw or real fighting. Kudos to karate (my origin in martial arts) but if you spar good fighters outside of karate you'll become a much better fighter and become less obsessed with formalities (which really serve the style more than individual fighters).

  • i'm entering a kumite competition but you have to wear mits and a gumshield and everything

    =)

  • good fitgh

  • Sorry if this sounds a bit sad to you but:

THIS is how a REAL fight looks like.

No fancy moves and jumps and dancing. Bang and clear.

  • Just who practices karate can understand the high level of this fight, sharp zukis in sen o sen and a finest aplication of todome waza. Karate is this pure art but can become pure war and blood if it were necessary, see Lyoto Machida also shotokan karate.

  • see "alves x bahia"

  • Dammit! If I didn't have 2 move away from Vegas, I'd probaby have my blackbelt right now.

  • 4:38

    Yes...extremely awesome!

  • piluddu ke commenta è il massimo!!xD

  • Kanazawa's son huh? Wow for a second I thought it was older.

  • Ronin is Right, this is Nobawaki Kanazawa's son, he begins on the left, and they don't hit each other for a reason, i have seen what punches from karateka at this level can inflict, and it's not pretty, they wear gloves and gear so if there is a mistake people don't get injured not so they can beat the crap out of each other, they don't make full contact for a reason, so no-one dies, it's as simple as that.

  • "they don't make full contact for a reason, so no-one dies"

So true point. Karate is about effectiveness, not showmanship.

  • i have seen many a competitor knocked out with this gyaku zuki....and have seen many hospitalized as well. It is certainly not a useless technique as Mr. "Know-it-all" states.

Actually , I have found that boxers are often surprised by a gyaku-zuki , as it is not done in boxing. I once taught karate to a boxer and he was impressed by it....Oh, he was once a sparring partner for Sugar Ray Robinson, in the 50's so he did know what he was talking about.

  • Bernard Hopkins actually was training with Sensei McCleary in (an Okazaki student turned club owner) in West Philadelphia at one point to work on his punching technique and power.

  • that was a reply to another post talking about boxing and reverse punch.

  • Murakami was in Romania I'm his little friend really !respect

  • They are fighting for points. You don't get points for knocking out the guy like in Kyokushin. But know this, These poeple are more than capable in defending themselves. These tournament fights just show how fast they are and how effectively they can use techniques. In real life these guys are really dangerous. I mean they have full control of their movements. They can easily knock a person out in real life.

  • I agree with you these guys trained an incredible lot and in real life compared to most people they are VERY strong and an awfull lot faster 1 punch by this level guys and the other will run or go down.

  • only tsuki always they use tsuki!any boxer would laugh if u use giaku tsuki against him! unreal ballett!

  • Only when you are good enough that someone posts a video of _you_ fighting on youtube will your opinion cease to be worthless.

  • is this fight here in this video!no this is fencing:)do you want to see me doing same thing:)

  • People usually don't kick in tournaments. It's too risky. You can loose your balance and you are also liable to be swept off your feet. But they use Chudan Mawashigiri and Mayagiri.(lower kicks). And quit comparing styles. It's rather useless.

  • so if they are fencing here and use only gyaku tsuki then what about real fight!gyaku tsuki again!absolutly useless thing in real fight doing no harm even no block is needed!

  • Holy crap! Kanazawa! I have a book signed by him!! What year is this I wonder?

  • This was Hirokazu Kanazawa's son ...if you hadn't figured that out by now.

  • I have trained, and still do, in Kendo (Japanese Fencing) and Jeet Kune Do. Kendo is point based, and it is true that a single, well placed strike can finish off your opponent. Jeet Kune Do on the other hand is street based, and also teaches to recover from hits, absorb hits. because a fight is not over till one person proves more persistent. So I think it can be seen from both sides. Both are usefull. In the end, i truly do believe these two would whoops all our asses. ;)

  • Would you prefer we knock each other's teeth out in sport karate? I'm quite certain that in real "sparring" by your definition either of these champions would demolish you.

  • @Jon47 I agree with you, because I just left a full-contact karate on where you can hit to the head as hard as you can, no matter if the person had head injuries or trauma. Personally, I see martial arts as a way of staying healthy and ONLY having the sport aspect a game. I am in Shotokan now and I love it so far, I love the idea on where you can go to the head with control, but not actually making any contact, which is awesome :).

    Good point.

  • Well, you should try it maybe. It is better to talk about something you actually experienced.

  • I've done shotokan a long time. So... uh, yes.. I have actually experienced it. That's how I know that playing tag is useless.

  • So, you guys never trained jiu kumite?

  • And here is a perfect example of someone who hasn't got a clue what he is talking about. Take it from me son you wouldn't stand a chance against any of these Karateka.

  • Thats just your opinion but I stand by the comments I made. You wouldn't stand a chance against any of them lol. Playing tag is preferable to knocking your opponents teeth out as someone else has already commented. Don't worry son, if any of these two wanted t do damage. They could.

  • Uh, yeah. At my teacher's dojo recently there was a tiny oopsie; one of the advanced students tapped his opponent with a front left jab. Broke his cheekbone, damaged facial nerve, made him not able to continue. My guess would be is that if he had bad intent, or been using his right hand, or both, the result would have been more serious.

  • shut a hell up! dont mess with nobuaki sensei! callate hijo de la chingada! ... so fuck your self! you dont have idea what is shotokan fucking loser!!!!!!

  • And you don't "have idea" what English is. Please try to elevate the level of your discourse in the future.

  • I see you are making your point about the rule. It is true that sundome karate doesn't have the factors for pain and taking the hits. When those factors are included, it will certainly affect who will win.

  • Yes, thank you for the educated response.

  • great teacher. awesome tecnique

  • this man gave me my shodun "Kanazawa" Great teacher

  • i'm assuming that this is the younger kanazawa that is in the movie "kuro-obi"?

  • io conosco la voce del commento...ma gli avete chiesto se fosse d'accordo a mettere questo video in rete?il figlio di kanazawa ha un bel gyakutsuki...

  • When I was training in Tokyo Murakami was the chief instructor at the SKIF Honbu dojo. Nobuaki is his junior. These two must surely spar together quiet often. What I like the most is the mutual respect between these two great exponents, a real Kohai/Sempai relationship. GREAT VIDEO

  • The distance between the fighters for example, much longer that in many fights WKF I've seen.

Long-distance therefore remains difficult the use of the legs as easily can be anticipated, and then use a little .

What better? strong kumite based on time, fast the same with strong atemi, or full of fast technichs of punchs and legs in short time and distance but very spectacular?

I like both and both are difficult to do...

    I just think are DIFFERENT...

    Thanks to all, and greetings.

    OSS!

  • There are'nt protections.

The atemi are hard and strong, (both the combatants throw away capsules dental after punch during the kumite... (If the shot arrives not unloading the Vasari is not given) The rule in SKIF is clear : it should not get the blood to not have ansaku..

The fighters do not go back and often search advance in a precise technical.

The distance between the fighters for example, much longer that in many fights WKF I've seen.

  • I would like to thank all those who have commented on this video that I have published.

I very much appreciate your comments and reflections of many you, and the criticism too..

Impossible is questioning the rate technical of Murakami and of N.Kanazawa too, both combatants and masters complete in both the use of the legs and arms.

There are several reasons if in SKIF are not used many combinations of techinchs:

  • This looks like ippon kumite - one-point sparring - hence the style of this fight.

  • whatta bealtiful fight..

  • excuse me but beautiful? one stance, one pace, one technique....yawn

  • FENCHNG!

  • sorry about criticising sacred cows etc. but every other move is is a reverse punch, or a single technique (yawn)! - very few combinations, little change of pace/ direction, no decent kicks.

sad when people this good, are reduced to dull techniques.

  • This is a joke right? Since when has tournament kumite been 'fancy'?

  • like description,

The V° SKIF (Shotokan Karate-do International Federation, the federation of a legend of shotokan, sensei Hirokazu Kanazawa ) WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP been in Yokohama ( Tokio ) in 1994. In SKIF the world Champion are done evry 3 years.

  • ive been to many tournaments, as Im sure you have. The last world tournament I went to (WAKO 2005, Canada) was brilliant, not dull (or Fancy).

I could never critisize Kanazawa (I once trained with his father) so perhaps its the SKIF rules which encourage static competition ?

  • kanazawa is the right one -_-

  • NO Nobuaki Kanazawa is on the left! the right one is Murakami Sensei. N. Kanazawa is quite tall.

  • Nakedhenry you dickjead, u suck! All the scores are 1 technique scores, ur gay! And Kanazawa jr is also class, at the time, not to mention now, have u seen him now?!? Amazing!!! So any of u guys here go to japan for the worlds?!

  • no problem = )

Murakami came here to australia and i trained with him on monday. It was awesome ! Make sure to come down to Adelaide in october for Shotokan Karate week 2007 with sensei kanazawa ! shotokankarate dot com dot au ! lol i sound like a ad

  • How dare you say Kanazawa Sensei sucks, NakedHenry. He is 8th Dan and the BOSS of all Shotokan Karate International. He's also like 80 years old. Figure.

This isnt Sensei Hirokazu kanazawa, this is Nobuaki Kanazawa, he is 76 and he is a 10th dan. That is his Son.

  • Yes, thank you. It was my mistake.

  • How dare you say Kanazawa Sensei sucks, NakedHenry. He is 8th Dan and the BOSS of all Shotokan Karate International. He's also like 80 years old. Figure.

  • Sorry my mistake. That's Jr isn't it. Man my connection sucks!!

  • Man, Kanazawa sucks balls! Look at that sweep attempt.

  • Step in the ring with Murakami and try YOUR sweep pal. Let me know how many teeth you have to pick up afterwards. Better yet, find Kanazawa himself, tell him what he sucks, then spar him. Good luck with that.

In the future, maybe you should only critique those who's skill you have the remote possibility of matching.

  • Sorry, didn't mean to offend with my rude comment. My point about Kanazawa is his tactic of throwing a single leg technique is not something I'd expect from his father's son. There's no denying Murakami is extremely sharp.

  • Nobuaki Kanazawa is the left one, the other is Murakami

  • Who's who??

  • The description says Murakami won so he is aka and Kanazawa is Shiro.

  • kanazawa jr was in Germany two years ago, he's awesome.

  • aka is very focused n quick
