  • Build a mobile suit like Gundam.. Japan would be very powerful! LOL

    Peace from Manila.

  • this is not Fighter. it's Tester.

  • Whether you think @youtubasoarus comment is ridiculous or not, the science of electroactive polymers might make a mech a reality in the future.

  • @venian646 actually, practicality will make the mech not happen at all in the future... at least for combat. for mobility, legs are better then wheels or tracks... however when it comes to speed, legs are highly inefficient. Also due to weapons and armor, fighting vehicles are very heavy, and the large area of tracks displace weight better then a foot. Next point, the arms... seriously arms, why? punching? swords? We do have cannon shells, missiles and even lasers now. Mechs will never be.

  • @caseygtr i know what your saying but it would be cool though, and also i dont think they are so useless in combat, if a mech is next to a tank, it could just flip it over before it has time to turn its cannon. Mechs have an advantage in mobility because legs can go where wheels and treads cant. Also im not talking about the big clumsy mechs you see in Armored Core or Gundam but slimline mech using 'artificial muscles' such as electroactive polymers.

  • @venian646 Combat takes place in ranges between hundreds of meters, sometimes even over 1~-2km, as far as I'm concerned. Mechs wouldn't be a bad choice for counter-insurgency missions, urban or mountainous terrain - I'm assuming a close example of such 'slimline' mechs with 'artificial muscles' would be the GEKKO in MGS4. But if it's slim, it wouldn't really have much means of defending itself against long-ranged weaponry, especially in wide and flat terrain - where tanks have a huge advantage.

  • @venian646 Additionally, the costs, maintenance and logistics are to be taken into factor - for starters, mechs are possibly bound to have more parts than a tank and even an IFV. You'll need additional support crews trained for the job and unless the military has a large enough budget to support such, I don't see the pros outweighing the cons. Combat benefits alone aren't enough to let it see operational service for long.

  • Was anyone else expeting this to turn in to a gundam or a macross fighter?

  • J-20 is a copy of F-22 and Su-35. So it doesn't make any difference of who makes same jet planes.

  • Very impressive. The question is, is Japan going to build it and will it be good as Su-35?

  • @canadadry0g It will be better than Su-35 because it has stealth capabilities and transform into a Gundam!

  • @canadadry0g I don't know if this will be good as Su-35 but I read an article that the first flight of ATD is scheduled on 2014. So they are building it.

  • @Transfusions who knows. From what i understand the airframe of the ShinShin is meant more to be a fighter. If the U.S agrees to install Aesa and DAS radar into the ShinShin, it would prob out preform the F35 in AA.

  • lol a gundam wing

  • this plane is crap,it is a copy of the f-22 and x-31

  • @1123359 It looks like a F22 because they showed the fighter jet in the video, you must have mistaken it for the Mitsubishi. And even if it did look like a F22, and even if it is a copy, which it is not, being able to copy a 5th generation fighter carries a lot of weight by itself.

  • Cancellation turned out to be false information. They never cancelled. I also just watched latest update on Japanese news a few weeks. They were talking about it will be carrying 4 anti-ship missles and test flight in 2014 or 15, nothing new really. The problem this project currently facing is how much budget they can get due to recent earthquake. South Korean reporter just visited Mitsubishi F-2 plant in Feb 2011 and did the story on ShinShin. Anyway, Shinshin is still a GO everybody.

  • japan has the engineers, impetus and ambition, just lack of resources.

  • @MrBestard No no, resource wasn't something that will stop them. They just can't pissed US off to make better jets. If they do, US will be out of market. AS it is, US is like a soldier for contract. If Japan can put out better and cheaper weapons, then US will be truly bankrupt. LOL

  • Why did Japanese cancel it? :(. I bet under US pressure. Why do they have to listen to everything US says? No independence.... So bad because they are really good at making all hi-tech stuff.

  • @Saffronwing1 yeah usa knows if they leave japan and korea alone, we'll make nuclear weapons and other advanced machines, they know exactly what were capable of

  • @Saffronwing1, they sign an agreement after WWII

  • @krittmasta Just like Germany, Japan is no longer under any restriction. So they can build anything they want. It is all up to Japanese people, government, and especially its constitution article 9, which lately they have been talking about amending it so Japan can launch first strike before potential enemy (china or/and north korea) planes take off and launches missles as "self-defense".

  • @Sitti2300, Can you show me the evidence saying that there is no restriction.

  • @krittmasta I believe it was 1970s that Japan became fully independent nation just like any country. Many people get confused about "restriction" and its constitution. Japan adopted consititution written by american after the war. It says Japan can have enough forces for self-defense. This is basically Japan is restricting itself, not being restricted by any country or UN. Since threat of china is becomeing real, Japan is talking about amending it so they can attack BEFORE enemy attacks.

  • @Sitti2300 the only real threat is north korea. China unlikely would attack first. but they could back north korea. Fuck both of them though. I dislike both.

  • @EpiDemic117 China wouldn't back North Korea, The only reason China Backed North Korea the first time was because Soviet Russia coerced them into it with empty promises of supporting China and North Korea at an undisclosed time. China has far to much to lose economically by supporting N. Korea in a second war.

  • @AcomsRazor1776 actually no, the reason PRC fought was because US warship enter the Taiwan Strait. this was a critical mistake US made because it gave PRC the impression that US do not plan to recognize PRC as China. people tend to forget that when the Korean war was underway, US did not even consider PRC a nation! it was still view as a rebellion. had US made recognition of PRC then, PRC would be in the UN and neither Korea nor China would be divided today.

  • @Saffronwing1 lmao hi tech stuff?how come i see chinese copying bootleg movies and ipods?

  • @1123359 I was talking about Japanese.. where did Chinese come in that?

  • 武器三原則を改訂してくれればな...

  • It transforms into a shoe!

  • cancelled unfortunatly

  • Japan is good at making (1) of everything.

  • It would be nice if Japan works with India on developing jet engines! Our current KaveriGTX jet engine is almost ready for trails,we just need to bring down the weight a bit.Only a few countries in the world have designed and made their own jet engines!Japan was interested in the KaveriGTX but looks like their stealth plain wont make it any time soon.

India and Russia are makeing a stealth fighter called PAK-FA and its own stealth design called MCA! It would be cheaper alternative to f-22.

  • Bet it can transform into a tank!

  • Nah that's just the aerosystem for a mass produced Daitarn III weapon system.

Scaring the opponent thru the power of Sun!!!

    OMG NERF THE JAPS!!!!!

  • @sh0ckv3l

Oh it's Mitsubishi...i can't wait for the Evolution version of this. Gonna rape the WRC i'm sure of it.

  • WWII. If Eistein wasn't making Abomb for us, Japan would have pwn us with Helicopter that they already had in WWII with the base on the side of the cliff. Read it up ... They got crazy nasty technology for a long while already!

  • this is a joke....

  • トランスフォーマも日本生まれだってば(笑)↓↓↓↓

  • @yunahasnoshame

    揚げ足とるようですみません

    トランスフォーマー自体はアメリカ生まれで、トランスフォーマーの原型(ダイアクロン)が日本製だったと思います。

  • I thought GUNDAM was a transformer copy which is an American invention...?

  • Russian Mig Vorona

  • they had this project for years, first said it will have its first flight in 2008, then delays to 2010, now they say it will be 2012. Because they are wishing that us government would sell f-22 to them. Japan gotta rely on itself a little be, don't rely on other people for it. It could have been produced by now.

  • Stealth R&D is expensive and after it's "lost decade" it isn't the power it was in the 1980s. It could be looking at the SU-50 which is said to be a stealth fighter. Russia says it will enter production in 2012 so we will see that craft in production about 4 years before the F-35.

  • I love all the hate. Just wait until Japan starts putting mechs out there. We'll see who's laughing then.

  • @youtubasoarus

    Jesus...u made my day.

Remember their ground force are samurais and...NINJAS!

    OP! OP! OP! OP!

  • @youtubasoarus Damn straight

  • japan will buy 40 f22.minor changes are to be made, and the overall cost might reach 1bn$

  • the japanese sure love that F-15 shape
