nice view, but two lovers point was defaced when they constructed the new lookout observation platform. they destroyed the natural shape that had existed for millions of years. all for making money. thats the only thing that is important it seems.
The locks were left by couples as a symbol of their love. A couple would hang a padlock after inscribing their name or initials on it and throw the key away so that their love is locked forever.
1)SAY THE NAME OF THE BOY OR GIRL U WANNA BE WITH FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE 2TIMES
2)SAY UR BEST FRIENDS NAME 5 TIMES TO UR SELF

..and last but not least, sickadensick.. chamoru is not the native word for guamanian, guamanian just means that you're from the island of guam..and the native word for guam is guahan.. and the word chamoru applies that you are of native blood of the original people of the marianas. you dont believe me, go ahead and ask any of the elders that have been living on the islands since world war 2
secondly to nenegirl01, listen to kuraku3, Chamorro is a native person of the Marianas. Guam, Rota, Tinian, Saipan, and all the other islands. I really dont think that there is a native word for guamanian, unless the people on guam have made one up now, but its not chamorro.
first off. to letterb..those people lied. I dont know why, maybe they just didnt know. oh, and I take back that whole "take a history class" thing.. over reacted i guess.
Although the new viewing platform offers a magnificent view, don't forget that Guam's most famous and celebrated landmark was defaced in order to provide this view. The original cliffline in it's natural shape should have been protected. Shame on us for letting this happen.
last thing you said was funny..."I think its for people who got married". Me too, I'm not too sure why they have locks there, but the logic of people getting married could be the reason. Oh, and the cliff to your right wasnt the cliff they jumped off of. Its the cliff to your left when you look out. I think the fence should still be there.
Chamorro is the word for the native islanders of the Marianas. Chamorro is an ethnic identification, whereas Guamanian is more of a geographic identification. The people in the island of Saipan are sometimes referred to as Saipanese. People from California can be call Californian. Those from Florida, Floridians. And those from America, Americans! You don't need a history lesson. Just a good explaination about it. Hope this helps both you and islander1183.
That is the word the people I stayed with told me. I like how you were such a prick about me getting a history lesson but you didnt even offer an alternative.
How can you call yourself an islander(1183) and not know what "chamorro" is? And what do you mean by YOU PEOPLE? Where in history class did you learn the native word for guamanian, if chamorro isn't it?
if you aint "chamoru" then reallyjuz shut the fuck up! cuzz i am full blooded chamoru so dont you dare ever tell me that shit! i know who i am..worry about you andyour god damn self!
I miss Guam :( I lived there for like 12 years.

I am a tiny bit more clear on the issue of "chamarro" and "guamanian"
I would love to visit again, life there seemed much more calm.

"Chamorro" is NOT the native word for Guamanian or however you people spell it. You need to take a history class of it.
