Elves dont have beards, they only get them when they are in their third life cycle which starts at around (estimate) 12000 years old and few elves were that old, the oldest one in middle earth was Cirdan, he had a beard, even though he was only 11000 years old at the time he left middle earth
The reason elves look so girlish is because elves were originally thought of as these fair, long haired mystical creatures of nature. Almost like gods and goddess'.
I love the male elves in Lord of the Rings, even though they look like girls! Some of them are very hot!! :) :D
