That's why most American's that really love MUSIC starting turning to Country or Europe & the Rest of the World for "Music" & not the arrogance of "Words" mouthed to a "Thump, Thump" instrument background.....Bob
@Clof1959, You got it. I turned to the Gipsy Kings, Vicente Amigo and a whole bunch of flamenco guitarists and singers, and an Aussie by the name of Tommy Emmanuel, among others not from here. There is no voice quite like Jenny's. I'm not enthusiastic about most of her material, however. Too much emphasis on the rock beat. I listen to them just to hear her.
Heart over mind, not mind over heart as we usually do. The rational intelligence must be run by emotional intelligence. Our job as humans is to drop the mind into heart, and then there is nothing that we can not achieve.. Think with you heart. This is powerful message. The unconditional love is the answer to any problem of our life.Love is the answer. We must stop perceive the world trough the eyes of fear, instead open our hearts and create a better life.Let"s unite and live in joy and peace
Great song and it sounds very Rick Wake: top US producer responsible for countless hits for: Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Taylor Dayne, etc. The song was only a moderate hit in Europe and clearly shows her "bad luck" with American producers who seemingly cannot get the balance right between her operatic voice and too slick of a production. Jenny needs bolder songs to give weight to her vocal prowess...however the music tastes changed in the late 80ies towards more urban and soulful sounds...
USA undervalues many artists and all that matters is the "quick buck"! Alexander O'Neil, Jocelyn Brown, Edwin Starr, ...and now Michael Jackson have all found a home in the UK. Fact: US music market is very proliferated and rigid in its structure (like a corporation). Artists that cannot immediately be identified and pigeon-holed, record execs will not invest.
Jennifer's operatic vibrato alto voice was simply not marketable for American (uneducated) ears.....the rest is history.
The only decent music now and over the Past 15 years worth listening to that has any romance & feeling to it is Country.
The American Record Industry has spent all their time promoting Rap, HipHop and Anti-Establishment Bands like "Rage", which shouldn't even be consider music.
The rest of the World has so many great Pop Singers that America has never even heard of.
@originaldeftom ~ Don't forget the late Eva Cassidy that was discovered in 2000 by a Radio DJ in London 4 years after her passing @ the young age of 31 in 1996...
If America can't "commercialize" a singer & dictate what they sing & how they sing it for the almighty Buck they ignore their very best talent rather then promote it......Bob
I was an instant lifetime Fan the first time I heard Jenny sing the Song she also wrote "The Power Of Love" in 1984... It's puzzling that Jenny was born in N.Y.City, USA but received most of her well deserved adulation, popularity and loyal Fan following from every other country all over the World but America...
It's no wonder she moved to London with her daughter, Ariel, shortly after her birth in 1993 and has continued to live there ever since...Bob
Fabulous...Thank you so much for Posting this beautiful Song by Jenny...She's just one of the greatest Pop Singers ever but IMO very under appreciated by her native country, America...
It makes me so very happy to see and to know that the rest of World recognizes Jenny's immense talent and truly appreciates her even if her birth country didn't and still doesn't the way it should. No wonder she moved to England to raise her daughter Ariel and is still there...Bob, Palm Springs, Ca.

@originaldeftom ....
Great synopsis of the American Record Industry.
I completely agree with this analogy.
The only decent music now and over the Past 15 years worth listening to that has any romance & feeling to it is Country.
The American Record Industry has spent all their time promoting Rap, HipHop and Anti-Establishment Bands like "Rage", which shouldn't even be consider music.
