In 1993 Matt set up a new project with the SMD series (Slip Matt's Dubs) which was a big part in laying the foundations for the new style Happy Hardcore sound with his first release 'SMD 1' which sold over 10,000 units pushing a new style Happy Hardcore sound. :)
SMD 1 is the dividing line between oldskool hardcore and happy hardcore. It has breakbeats, so it's like oldskool hardcore, but the piano is typical of later happy hardcore. And it doesn't have a strong emphasis on the bassline, like the jungle side of the music that followed oldskool.
