  • Seems quite useful, especially for keeping hands dry and warm in the winter when there's snow. I'd still prefer electronic motion amplifyers like Servomatic and eMotion, but there would probably be a market for this.

  • @ohcmeon Thanks for the comments. It's always a personal choice, and the Wijits obviously require some degree of arm and hand mobility. From a "use it or lose it" perspective, I think the primary benefits are a more comfortable range of motion (reduced shoulder stress), and increased cardio through the use of the larger muscle groups. And, as you point out, they are easier on the hands. Regards, - ADSR

  • @cheasom1 Quack

  • price?

  • I would like to test that system out.

  • Have the wijit for our son....jaysen has quadriplegia CP so we had to modify the hand grips....and customize the chair rather extensively....this being said, the wijit really makes it possible for jaysen to wheel around on flat surfaces and maneuver much better ( in home and at the store without creating further spasiticty /fatigue in his arms....check jaysen out........by clicking his ...turner5149

  • @turner5149 Thanks for the comments! I'm very glad to know the Wijits are working out so well for Jaysen. I checked his video out and also shared it on the Wijit facebook page. The adaptive tricycles are a great idea. There's nothing like a little fun to make therapeutic work more engaging and effective. I'll help spread the word, and feel free to do the same for the Wijits. Thanks.

  • ADSR4Ever Again, I think I need to say Re:moderate severe quadriplegia: (Patent Pending Spasticity reduction ) look at Position-Able levers regarding ALL lever driven wheel chairs. Met with Brian Watwood and CEO's.... Very exited to become acquainted with my work patent 7,819,414 ........far beyond "adaptive tricycles" doubleux3.tridynamicdotcom

Sorry, they are not interested in greatly improving the Wijit design to include ( very large market)children with the most complex Disabilities

  • @ADSR4Ever this is Julie, Jaysen's mom. Re: The Wijits

My son was not nearly as mobile in the Wijits without the added position able lever system Patent pending-positioned on the inside of the wheel. At first all involved in getting the wijit for Jaysen said that the wijit really may not be for him. But my husband already knew what he would do. He encourage jaysen’s therapist to visit his website and the rest was history...............

  • So, I encourage anyone who is an active, and( spastic) quadriplegic to view the videos and see how difficult and awkward for Jaysen to maneuver. Then compare with the greatly improved levers (patent pending) notice the difference to power his chair without constant aggravation to his existing condition or knuckle bashing into walls also arms rubbing and back and neck problems from wijits current wide grip and static vertical levers .

  • Lastly, closely observe the very maximum muscle groups employed with this ( utility)improvement. Anyone with hand dexterity( spasticity) problems really needs to take a close look at doubleux3dottridynamicdotcom

  • This is very good new model wheelchair, we need addresh of wijit.Com Address as we want to place orders for the same. Navneet Acharya

  • A great product, I tested one of the early prototypes. But best for individuals who have some hand dexterity. Not so great for quadriplegics with our movement but no hand grass/finger function. minimalistic hand function is required

  • @GimpGear Hi, and thanks for the comment. The inventor himself is a quadriplegic, with limited use of his hands. Following the early prototypes, I know he designed a shifter paddle attachment to make shifting easier for users suffering from a variety of conditions that reduce hand function. If you are still interested, please feel free to contact the Wijit Company for info on the newer models. You can also send me a PM if I can help speed the exchange of information. Best regards.

  • Another plus is that we were able to avoid having to buy an expensive adapted van, which we would have to do if we got a power chair. The Wijits fit easily into our average size car. Airline travel was easy with them too - just clicked off the Wijits smoothly and stored them in the stewards closet.

  • @CanineAngelTeamZoe1 Thanks so much for the glowing comments, and especially for the personal story of your daughter's progress. Sharing stories like your daughter's has the potential to bring awareness of the Wijit to hundreds of thousands of "wheelers" who might benefit from them. If enough people ask for them, it will generate the kind of positive financial pressure needed to make Wijits available to all whose lives may be enhanced by them. So comment and share at will!

  • My daughter used the child size Voyager Wijits for 5 years and now uses the adult size, with no repair complications. Her Conductive Ed therapists at Conductability love the progress made with Wijits and recommended them to others in the program.

Wijits are Quality Product with a Smart Design and they Function Well Everyday.

Wijits are definately for wheelers who want to increase their quality of life. Purchasing the Wijits was one of the best decisions we ever made for our child!!!

  • This is Fun to see this!

My teen loves her Wijits too! She can propel independently with her Wijits when she could not do so with traditional rims. Her hand paddles that flip on the top of her Wijits (not shown on this video) are simple to use. Wijits improved her muscle strength, coordination and motor control. She mastered navigating skills and increased her ability to do other tasks. Plus, she gets aerobic heart exercise, which her doc loved!

  • Brilliant! It's amazing it wasn't invented a long time ago; it's so logical. Go Matt!

  • @heyifrit

Believe it or not, the Wijit was invented 15 years ago, but big health equipment manufacturers (who peddle power chairs for $24,000) have been doing their best to prevent the Wijit from becoming ubiquitous. They have the money to saturate the airwaves with their ads, and lobby Medicare to block authorization and reimbursement for competing products. The irony is that the Wijit preserves health and saves insurance companies money in the long run. Do what you can, and spread the word.
