i'd also like to state that sora broke all the rules associated with having a keyblade. He was a heartless up to the point where roxas reunited with him, yet he could still wield a keyblade. I do wonder why Ansem, seeker of darkness couldn't use the keyblade, probably because he liked the guardian too much. But they made sora to break the rules, it's what makes him special

Probably because Sora has a bright and powerful heart. And Roxas wasn't exactly Sora's heart. Roxas is something that didn't original ever belong to Sora. It's Sora's heart, not tainted by greed, hate or gluttony, that made him the Keyblade barer. It is why Riku couldn't be the Chosen One. Though, Riku/Ansem-Riku proved that even the Darkness can use Keyblades. However, I'm sure you have to be a powerful Somebody to ever be able to manifest a Keyblade.

@Disturbedkillsall Firstly, Xemnas is Xehanort's Nobody. Nobodies have no hearts, so Keyblades cannot recognize them. That being said, before anyone mentions Roxas, they should play Birth By Sleep. It explains EVERYTHING.

Xemnas could use a Keyblade, but because he remembered using it to extract Aurora's heart when he was Terra (and greatly regretting it afterwards), it shook him too much and he decided not to, since he would have to do it millions of times to complete his Kingdom Hearts.

So what's he do? Leave it to Roxas, Xion and Sora. Better not to have to do the dirty work.

So then he goes on to take Sora's, since he seems to be the all powerful "Chosen One" at this point. But when Roxas comes about, he tries to manipulate him to do the work, at the same time creating a clone, Xion, in case it goes bad

@platanero92 This was actually AFTER Roxas was brought into the Organization. Shortly after this, he meets with Roxas and tells him "He looks a lot like you".

Maybe Xehanort couldn't wield the Keyblade, but I think Xemnas could, since he used Master Xehanort's Keyblade Armour at the end of KH2. His reason for not using the Keyblade, well, I already said my theory two months ago. I don't know if it's right or wrong.

At the end of BBS, Aqua defeated Terra-Xehanort the second time and, as an act of desperation, MX attempted to expel Terra out of his body so that he could have complete control. However, they were being swallowed into the Realm of Darkness. Aqua went in and tried to save Terra, but she was running out of time, so she sacrificed her armor and keyblade and stay within the realm so that Terra would be free. However, the only one that emerged from the realm was the new Xehanort.

And Nomura said that maybe Xemnas was deliberately not using a Keyblade. If Roxas could, maybe Xemnas could as well if he had some of MX and Terra's memories inside him.

And yes Nomura did say that it was possible that he could've used the keyblade, but it wouldn't have made much sense for him not too. It's supposedly the ultimate weapon in the series, although i don't agree. I'd rather have sephiroth's sword :D. My personal opinion is he couldn't because he didn't have a heart. Roxas could because he was Sora's nobody, and Nomura did

@dlunk132 Well, I sometimes like to think that Xemnas had Terra's memory of extracting Aurora's heart with the Keyblade, and it haunted him so much that he didn't want to do it anymore, preferring to have Sora, Roxas and Xion do it for him.

It's possible that Xemnas had Terra's heart, but didn't remember anything from Terra's past save for a few snippets like the armour and the two rooms. Maybe that's why Nomura hinted Xemnas could use the Keyblade (he did use Keyblade Armour, after all).

Yeah but for the most part not alot was added. Most of the stuff added was already in the US version of the game anyway.

The only truely unique things were the Xemnas fight and the secret movie (which showed parts of the Roxas vs Riku fight)

Xemnas was refered to as "Unknown" and Roxas was "Dual wielding Unknown"

That was also back when people thought Roxas was Kairi.

Well yeah Sephiroth Kurt Ziza and Ice Titan were added from the US version but other than that the only added things were Xemnas, the secret movie and 3 new Ansem reports that confirmed things hinted in the plot. Also a handful of new scenes were added mostly exploring the relationship between Sora and Riku but nothing earth shattering.

Compared to the whopping 20 extra bosses and important plot scenes that the KH 2 FM added however it was really nothing.

Sora became a Heartless before defeating Ansem, so Roxas was created at that moment. Since Sora would have still been in Hollow Bastion, Xemnas went to see him before he destroyed Ansem. Xemnas also makes a remark to Roxas at Dark Meridian that "he looks a lot like you," reinforcing that he had to have met Sora.

So obviously, the fight is totally canon.
