You could argue that this was the one team in the Creamsicle era that the Bucs had a scary passing game (with all due respect to Doug Williams, he never had a player of Carrier's ability)
I remember well that Hampton was lost for the season due to injury. That fact was brought up in the 1990 previews I saw of the Bears, a season that did turn out better for the Bears and it would be Hampton's last. It's nice to see that he made the Hall of Fame.
When the Bears started the 1989 season 4-0, no one was surprised. After all, they were Da Bears. But then came this game in which Chicago's year started to unravel. The next week, after a loss to Houston at home, Da Coach, Mike Ditka, openly questioned whether his team was capable of winning anymore. Sure enough, Da 89 Bears won only two of their last 10, finished 6-10 (the finale was a 26-0 shutout loss to the 49ers) and watched the playoffs from a distance for the first time since '83.
@johnxavierie If trailer trash is being a fan of the greatest franchise on this planet, then yes, i am trailer trash. 2010 World champs....1 of many in the forseeable future. Repeat and dynasty in the making. GO PACK!!
To this day as a Bears fan, the '89 season is the one I hate the most. Where I was living, the local CBS affiliate was showing the Giants at Philadelphia. When updates were given on the Bears-Bucs game, I was like "What the heck is going on down there today?"
@ultraback29 '89 was a dream come true. The Majik man. The Pack sweeps Chicago. A winning record for the first time since the '82 strike season. 4 wins by one point, an NFL record. Awesome.
To TheEsquire, yes it was 1989.
To Chrisuncleahmad: Im not so sure about that..Kevin House was a burner. But over all Carrier was probably better.

@ycdtotv
That's when I started hating the Packers. That was before the Favre era.

@ultraback29 Chicago was 8-0 versus Green Bay from '85-88. Not much to hate.

The bears were 4-0 going into this game only to see the 1989 season fall apart and finish 6-10
