Here it is in a nut shell for one yes they are good workers but they are not using there shingle gauges on there nail guns it is a must when using TimberLine shingles to achieve 5-5/8 ex-poser and 6-1/2 side stepped read the instructions! this doesn't slow you down in fact when you get use to it this way "the right way " you won't void the warranty! Another thing I noticed NO RIDGE VENT unless this place is got gable vents the only way to go is a ridge vent! don't mean to be a ass but....
I own a Roofing Company in St Louis Missouri and have had the same crew working for me for just under nine years. They are absolutely incredible workers and have what I consider the utmost integrity. They are also Mexican. The crew Forman has lived in St Louis for 17 years and most of the crew are related to him in some way. As for legal status "They are legit". The biggest problem is that most of us here in the U.S. are a bunch of racist bigots. Therefore I spend a lot of time defending them.

quality is good, slacking on speed so heres a tip for ya.....leave out your first nail and hit it on your next run up the roof.....u dont have to stretch your arm just for 1 nail, u will nail an extra square or 2 every day just by doing that
Do you rely on the edge and starter strip as the straight line ? Don't you have to measure from ceter of roof so the last row of shingles is straight ? Thanks.
@rsz90182 You check in the center and every so often to make sure you are square with the roof. Generally, you should be pretty close to square without having to measure. You can also pop a couple of lines if it makes you feel more comfortable.

this guys are slow and crappy installers! 1st of all the guys feeding should be moving faster. And when they are about to run out of shingles the need to drop 2 or 3 shingles for the nailer to work with while he retrieves more shingles. #2 why in the hell is the other guy putting his gun down every time he grabs a shingle. They may shingle a small house in a day but with 6 uys you should be able to tear off and shingle in a day still doin quality work

Not only that where is the ventilation. This roof wont even meet minimum ventilation requirements. This roof also is done very cheap in respect of no waterproofing, no drip edge to eaves which may be the customers decision, Who knows!

agreed, but nailing i have questions. why do they 1,2345 instead of 1,2,3,4,5 equally spaced? oh, and no ridge vent, maybe they had gable vents, but not enough venting in that. (a tender in ohio learnin the trade)
It looks like it saves you money until you factor in your increased taxes to allow unemployment assistance to those that are citizens, and the loss of taxes they would pay if they were employed - these illegals dont pay taxes, dont claim a dime yet they are there at the assitance office looking for the migrant worker aid we all pay for. As far as quality of labor they work fast or they arent picked up the next morning because (as stated already) the contractor hires them to save per hour costs
The contractors are also calculating the job as if they had legal workers and paying worker's comp insurance so they pocket that amount as well - if an illegal is injured they will likely drop them off at a clinic for treatment but they arent going to sue the contractor for injuries and inability to work . So it's not saving you anything and like buying Chinese stuff at Walmart it costs you in many ways more than just the sticker price.
Its not about the race of someone we are all humans BUT.... If someone is taking work from an AMERICAN just because they will do the job for half the going rate, and slop shingles on as fast as they can. How is that ok ? I am a roofer who was always shown the correct way of roofing. We have a family business that my grandfather started over 50 years ago. Have done all of them myself as well, much better job and I know exactly where every nail went and how all the flashings were done. Only done once in 20 or 30 yrs so a week or two off isnt a big deal if you know how it's supposed to be done.

Thats the first thing that caught my eye too. there IS NO nail pattern. On one of the cut edge shingles he used only THREE nails, what Code does that meet ? What a bunch of tools.

You call yourself helping customers? Where is any ventilation? You just voided out there warranty. They now only have ten years at most from there warranty. I have been at this for over 19 years. Have owned my own successful roofing company for over 3. We do things by the book, or we get rid of those roofers that don't pay attention. This is better than most I seen. The end nail is spaced to far apart when nailing. Of course this is better than what I have seen in the field on inspections. Most moron roofers will put it in the stagger portion and have a nail exposed. Then again, are these guys legal? Who has the GAF Masterelite certifications. The owner? Have you trained these guys? I would fail this roof cert. just on the nail pattern alone. Pay attention to detail, that's what makes a good roofer excellant!!

Not only that where is the ventilation. This roof wont even meet minimum ventilation requirements. This roof also is done very cheap in respect of no waterproofing, no drip edge to eaves which may be the customers decision, Who knows!

So a nail doesnt fall in a seam of a shingle and fall protection is a pain in the ass tripping other roofers.Yes, by code we are suppose to wear them. But, if you roofed you would know what pain in the ass they are. Best install video i have seen on youtube. Stop hating on it you are probably some who thinks hand banging is better too . I am a contractor with a license and been roofing in hawaii for eight years and this guys are doing a fine job in the vid.

It looks like it saves you money until you factor in your increased taxes to allow unemployment assistance to those that are citizens, and the loss of taxes they would pay if they were employed - these illegals dont pay taxes, dont claim a dime yet they are there at the assitance office looking for the migrant worker aid we all pay for. As far as quality of labor they work fast or they arent picked up the next morning because (as stated already) the contractor hires them to save per hour costs

The contractors are also calculating the job as if they had legal workers and paying worker's comp insurance so they pocket that amount as well - if an illegal is injured they will likely drop them off at a clinic for treatment but they arent going to sue the contractor for injuries and inability to work . So it's not saving you anything and like buying Chinese stuff at Walmart it costs you in many ways more than just the sticker price.

I am a roofer who was always shown the correct way of roofing. We have a family business that my grandfather started over 50 years ago. Since he has been in business he has seen thousands of FLY BY NIGHTERS COME AND GO!! The one thing that people like is a WELL DONE JOB!! Why are illegals taking construction jobs from AMERICANS?? Better yet, do it yoursef. Thats what I did. Took a 2 week vacation and me and a bud knocked out 40 squares. 10 pcs of plywood replaced, the Rood had 2 layers of shingles. 9.7 TONS in the 40 yd . Im not giving a DIME to mexicans anymore. BTW, 2 roofers stopped by cause they could not believe what they were seeing and thought we were new competitions. Have done all of them myself as well, much better job and I know exactly where every nail went and how all the flashings were done. Only done once in 20 or 30 yrs so a week or two off isnt a big deal if you know how it's supposed to be done.

Would you hire someone like that? Your nail pattern is not to GAF's code book. If you truly are Certified then you would know that. Hit the books again and get your tape measure out. You call yourself helping customers? Where is any ventilation? You just voided out there warranty. They now only have ten years at most from there warranty. Hit the books again, read the back of the wrapper, better yet get the warranty paperwork. Then come back and talk smack.

I have been at this for over 19 years. Have owned my own successful roofing company for over 3. We do things by the book, or we get rid of those roofers that don't pay attention. One thing that the American Public will pay for is a good quality Job. If you selling speed then you are selling just that. We love roofers like you! Keeps our repair portion of the company going. I myself now do just selling and haven't put a roof on in over 6 months. No complaints there. I know it's a hard

This is better than most I seen. The end nail is spaced to far apart when nailing. Of course this is better than what I have seen in the field on inspections. Most moron roofers will put it in the stagger portion and have a nail exposed. Then again, are these guys legal? Who has the GAF Masterelite certifications. The owner? Have you trained these guys? I would fail this roof cert. just on the nail pattern alone. Pay attention to detail, that's what makes a good roofer excellant!!

I run a couple of crews and all that I will hire are hispanics. Ha, I have a dgree in intnl business and the only courses I use from it are my 3 semester study abroad spanish skills.
