  • does anyone remember MELT off tower bridge road in the late 90s?

  • Had totally forgotten about this tune, not really a garage fan but heard this out last night, brings back memories. Has a good old skool underground feel to it. This was one of a crop of many great tunes in this era when it was underground before the whole scene was ruined as mentioned below. The talented underground producers couldnt compete with the corporate labels and died out unfortunately.

  • David Guetta and all the mainstreamers nowwa days can touch this.. Love old skool Garage. This tune is a smooth groove, gotta love it!

  • @emixcube Nobody can hate this music. The reason people hate it is because they don't understand it yet. Listen some music in the same categorie and later you will love it and never want to miss this sound

  • @emixcube

I don't even know where to begin...

  • @emixcube Is this even dubstep?

  • To all below, yeah impressive and a classic, and also gotta say nothing really makes me wanna shake my arse anymore ya know, i like me dubstep, miss my jungle, but nothing today is like the feel good, sometimes hard, deep, groovy, soulful vocal U.K.G/2step garage done then what jungle done in 91/92

  • I thing UK G was good between 1996-2000 , but it went down hill when MC took over the game

  • @javan82 Don't forget the whole "Aiya Napa" crowd and the trash remixes that spawned from that...

  • @javan82 when it was old skool garage - i hear you

  • @javan82

Nah mate, MC's were always involved in the underground scene, listen to ANY recording from the old school raves/club nights and you'll see.

What killed garage was the commercialisation of the genre, main stream radio stations and corporate record labels, I'm only 27 and I've seen countless genres of music that had a huge following disappear in to little more than memories because people got greedy.

Thats how I see it anyway...

  • @mambopreston I would love to have a pint with u mate u know what ya talkin about! I loved garage hard when i was introduced to it but sadly it faded away and its like u sed only memories now :((

  • @reflex1reflex1

    Ha, cheers!

There's still some big events on in and around London, so you can find a decent night to relive those memories... although the people that tend to go wanna hear more "Lethal B - POW!" than Roy Davis Jr "Gabrielle"

    Shame...

  • @javan82 Yup very true man, the MC has killed nuff different scenes, Rave, Hardcore, D an B, the list go's on

  • @javan82 this +1

  • @javan82

But the memories will remain potent and continue to be sparked when we hear these old tracks.

  • @javan82 they killed Drum n Bass badly...

  • OH GOD - when will people just accept that by saying 'no tunes like this any more', they sound like someone saying that music was shit after the Beatles, ie like someone very, very old and blinkered.

Brilliant tune; equally brilliant stuff being made today.

  • @baboon2525 Yeah but it still feels good to trash talk the BS that is being pushed these days

  • CLASSIC!!!!!!

  • Bad boy track!

These youths of today can keep there grimey shit, this is what i'm talking about!!!

  • @sherid4n

Too right mate, Im a yout of today but you wont get me listening to no uk thug garage!

  • @sherid4n Mate I'm so glad I'm just old enough to remember the glory days of garage, I wasn't old enough to go to raves, but the thing I've noticed is that garage made people feel good and happy, grime seems to make people angry and paranoid. Obviously I got love for all genres sub genres etc but hopefully the garage revival will continue, with labels like L2S and artists like Duncan Powell

  • @sherid4n This is the shit I grew up on, there's nothing in garage these days....it's totally plastic, it's without "that vibe".

  • @sherid4n nothing wrong with Grime mate, but you can never beat the sound of some old skool garage... and I'm 18

  • @sherid4n heyyyyyy im part of that youth u speak of but i actually looks for good music buddy

  • @sherid4n ''Get Meeeeeeeee'' i allow grime and the newer UKG genres.. its coming back! all the veterans are coming back.. Sunship, Wideboys, Delinquent, Dem 2 had a Digital and i think Vinyl earlier this year, Todd Edwards always pushing it.. And dont forget Solution, Paleface ('danger, danger code red, code red, danger'), and the list just goes on and on.. (not that they left but its being pushed more).
