about quality-no question. it was quantity that did them in. there were just too many for them to shoot down. same thing with tanks. germany made a thousand, the allies built 40,000 thousand. something had to give way. plus the fact of fighting too many fronts at one time. thanks to a commander in chief who was militarily inept, an egoistic idiot and a corporal devoid of any real combat experience and know-how.

@Paciat Agreed. The allies didn't need an equal 20mm cannon. They had the superb bofors 40mm which the axis never had any real answer to. The germans had some 40mm bofors cannons, but not enough.

@SpenzOT The 20mm was better as it could be belt fed and mounted in a quad. The bofors only had a 5 round mag.
