Tell him boy ! I've heard that dellortos are more easy tuned but why does so many more ppl use weber ? ;o But I love those dellortos, webers or solex ! Such a great sound... my brother have an volvo 242 with 2.5l enginge and weber 50 (!!!!!). Sounds good :)
Also, have you thought about taking off that belt fan and installed electric yet? It's an easy way to free up some hp, cool your engine better and reduce noise that covers up the good sounds. I'll be posting mine soon.
Ahh, you gotta love that exhaust leak, I was driving my standard KE70 in Melbourne for about 3 months before I finally got pulled over for excessive noise. It has recently ticked over 640,000kms and is still going strong...it won't die.
Just the standard cam, Had a pretty bad exhaust leak starting in that video, Extractors didn't mate to the head properly with the new intake manifold.

They are not webbers, they are dellortos. 2TG is too much mucking around to fit, I'd put a 4AGE in if I didn't already own an AE86 as well.

That explains the crappy sound. Like practically all Toyota engines, the 4K is normally smooth.
Great car/toy though. Wish I had my own, though I'm a bit partial to the later generation KE (79-83).
