  • AGUANTE MIKE PORTNOY!!!

  • The drumming here is so formulaic and predictable.

    Yawn.

  • @Easleytee

So? It's good, does it matter if you can predict it? I'm sure very few people only listen to Petrucci, or Vai, or Satriani to hear them shred endlessly; it's nice to have stuff that fits into the mix, not just have five musicians all soloing at the same time.

  • Simply Awesome!

  • every coments of this videois are from gays!...MP is one more drummer...but every gays loves him....hahahah

  • @OlhuscOmuns So that makes your comment gay. :)

  • MP is the best drummer for me no one can replace him in the throne of drums in DT...i like also MM.but i like the sound of Dt before...

  • from testimony 2 tour DVD coming out soon

  • ang galing talaga ni mike portnoy!

  • he's a very talented drummer...just stating the obvious here :P

  • terrible..!!!... el estilo de mike portnoy es unico!!..

  • mike you are my god. Plz bless me :)

  • você não era para ter saido do dream-theater!!!

  • love u, mike portnoy not mike margini

  • @dekyipoonz ..........Both Mike's are great drummers......don't hate on Mangini cause he filled MP's shoes w/room for improvement.....it's the music "business"..........there was a "job opening"......and MM went for the job, and got it.........Case closed.......instead of dogging Mangini, ask why MP let his ego try and trump a 25 year friendship........why would anyone sit around and wait for MP and his ego to show up again?.............MP has left the building!.....The better Mike has arrived!

  • @mikeybbdrummin I'm fed up of people knocking Portnoy! If they had all been such good friends for 25 years or what ever then surely they would have understood him wanting to take a break or at least talked around it a bit more. And I'm also fed up of fans saying how the new Mike is better, because without Portnoy they wouldn't be listening to Dream Theater in the first place!

  • @spredspred .Don't get fed up...Just pay attention......MP is good drummer...played perfectly for DT.....But if u think DT should have put their feelings, career and livleyhood on hold for MP to make him happy....ur out of ur mind....4-5 years is greedy and selfish....so they went for their happyness over MP's......and u would have too....and MM is a "more advanced" drummer....capable of things MP's not.....and I listen to stuff I like regardless of drummer......so thats not always true.

  • @mikeybbdrummin Dt would be Dt if it werent for MP

  • @linearrecords12 ..........I'm guessing you didnt proof read before you hit post....Im also guessing you meant Wouldn't......But if that case............you just never know..........could have been worse, or better........................we can guess all we want......doesn't change the fact that he's gone now, and they have a really good cd out.

  • @mikeybbdrummin Thanks for the English correction professor... and yes I did mean "WOULDNT". But i do stand by my comment. Mike Portnoy wrote most of lyrics and was the driving force behind DT's sound. He started that band with John Petrucci and John Myung while attending the Berklee College of Music 1985 and gave the band its name. He was very critical to what makes DT what it is today.

  • @linearrecords12 ....I wouldnt say professor.....but thanks..............the driving force im sure....but the sound?.....IMO...a band is gonna sound like what the guitar player sounds like...for the most part.......sure Mp had ideas and a direction.....but thats not gonna happen and last if its not what JP is interested in...........It would be like if VH started out and the band told Eddie that he should sound like Alex Lifeson...............it wouldnt have worked......cause that wasnt Eddie.

  • @mikeybbdrummin By your comment i guess your a guitarist Its funny how you mention Alex Lifeson, yes...he is the guitar wizard between a drum god named Neil Peart and one of finest bassist in rock history named Geddy Lee , but it's Neil Peart's presence in Rush that makes Rush what they are today. If John Rutsey had stayed in Rush we'd all be talking about a band who once had a hit song in the early 70's and not about one of the greatest collection of gifted musicians the world has ever known.

  • @linearrecords12 ..............Haha.......check out my name.....Drummer!!!.........I love Alex L...... I meant that a band usually revolves around the Guitar sound........even though Neil writes the lyrics..............but Alex and Geddy write the music.............So if Geddy said, Play like Ace Frehley.......Alex couldnt pull it off for long cause its not his style.........so thats what I was saying about MP being the driving force for sound.........has to be the style JP likes to play first!

  • @mikeybbdrummin So most bands are at the whims of the guitar player because the band's sound starts and ends with them right? Guitar players are the band leaders? if their playing style isn't jiving it ain't happening . Well i think rush would argue that every player in their band is integral to their over all success. Putting together a "sound" is the collective effort where the guitar doesn't work without the bass and the bass doesn't work with out the drums. every body is important.

  • @linearrecords12 ..IMO, yes...Tommy Aldridge playing rock would not make Richie Kotzen change his fusion style...Steve Smiths jazz/fusion drums is not going to change EVH's rock style......Chad Smiths funk style is not going to change JP's Prog rock style...bands come together because of styles they like.....you cant just like a style....you have to be good at it too.......so to say MP was the driving force for DT's sound??.....I dont agree ..........It comes from guitar first......IMO anyway.

  • @mikeybbdrummin drums are the oldest instrument in the world so its safe to say that music was first created by drum rhythms not guitar

  • @linearrecords12 .....Thats irrelivent.........what i said makes perfect sense.................it is what it is!

  • @linearrecords12 No , not the drums . The voice is the oldest instrument out there .

  • @mikeybbdrummin As VH is concerned that band has always been a guitar driven band just ask Michael Anthony

  • @dekyipoonz you sound like a women abandoned..XD

  • rhythm sounds like jackhammerspaceshipone, is it?

  • @weg95 thaaat's why it sounded so familiar. it really does sound exactly like it at one point.

  • mike q pasado eres en la drums o my god the best.

  • 1:37 ahead put those drum beats over the end of octavarium track and fix perfectly!! jajajaja MP FAN!!!!!!!

  • @dreamdrummen nope, youre actually wrong, its different. first measure here hes missing out the last eighth note bass drum hit, second measure in octavarium is made of triplets but this one is not, third measure in octavarium is slightly this ones second measure, 2 snares and then some sixteenth toms and an eighth, but here third measure are triplets, and fourth measure in octavarium is just snare-bass-tom-bass eights, whereas here its only triplets. WRONG! :P huger mp fan than you i guess. ^^

  • @Alfafish this guy portnoy what a fans he spends!!! jajajajaja cheers man better catch that mine!!!

  • @dreamdrummen Why fix it if it's not broken right?

  • This is not a jam, this is Overture no.4, a Neal Morse song...

  • happen to have the whole show?

  • @OrGaZmO666 No, only this piece =/

  • @OrGaZmO666
