PLUS Fallout 3 was made by the people who actually made the series while new vegas was done by obsidian and they ALWAYS half-ass their games for some reason. But their games are good regardless which is odd....

@MajorShepard LuLz, Bethseda got the rights to make Fallout 3. Obsidian is the remnants of a previous game studio that made Fallout. You had it backwards. Bethseda does currently own the rights to the Fallout franchise but they did not make the series.

So when Obsidian was given the chance to make the game, under some supervision from Bethseda, they used the engine that was tried and true. It's the same reason why CoD has never made any real improvements to the engine past CoD 4. Because it doesn't need to be changed. Obsidian worked harder on making FNV more relatable to their previous games. Less on improving the engine, not that they didnt

In Vault 21 you can find a picture of the Fallout 3 Dad (James) and a black lady, and if you didn't know, the mom in Fallout 3 (Catherine) is black. In Fallout 3, as Moriarity says, you were born far away and came to Vault 101, as did your parents. This leads to believe that you were born in Vault 21 and your parents traveled across the Mojave to Vault 101. Oh how I love in game easter eggs and secrets!
