  • I followed all of these instruction fully and carefully and my games will not appear on OPL. I have my ps2 connected to my router and my Laptop connected to it as well.

  • @v2nikk Guys, please see my PS2 playlist. I have a new video that is opl v.8, and is DEDICATED to the router method. Please watch.

  • EDIT I got it working

    Here's what I did:

    I used .8, host is win7 NTFS

    I used the user credentials

Make sure you put the username correct even case and password case.

Put your ISOs in a folder called DVD and use the open iso2opl to name them correct(IMPORTANT)

Put the ETF scanning in options on .8 to manual. Press start then press X to scan. Should work, message me if u got questions

  • THIS SHIT JUST WONT WORKKKKK

    I tried .8 and .7

I have a laptop which does not have the username and pass of the pc's shared folder PS2SMB

Then with the laptop it initially said no permission, then I added everyone to the share, then it could read the files and all. STILL NOTHING ON the ps2 even with .7, then tried .8 with user credentials STILL NO FILES!!! PC ip is 10.10.10.114 ps2 is 10.10.10.11, gateway is all correct info. I ripped iso with usbextreme

    help plx

  • Thanks for the tutorial this work for me but Final Fantasy X fmv lag so much.

  • @ewuv07 I am so sorry to hear that. I just helped a user earlier tonight, he used the crossover cable method, and kingdom hearts 2 FMVs were played flawlessly over the ethernet connection. You could try that with opl v.8. Otherwise, maybe discs are what you should go with. xD

  • also i have win xp , the 4gb pendrive is shared with the same name as mentioned in opl.

one end of the cross over cable is conn to the pc and other to my ps2 ,

i also set the opl network config correctly.

i been on this days ...pls help

  • @ozzyfernandes Can you ping PS2 successfully?

  • Hey i did everything as per ur vid , fmcb and opl v8 was successful , but when i open opl it does not detect any of my games , the games are in iso format in a 4gb pendrive.

    What am i missing out

  • @ozzyfernandes Are the ISO named properly?

  • JOIN THE DARKSIDE and get a free cookie.........

  • I know now why. Folder has to have group "Everyone" on it to be seen by ps2 opl.

  • Lol I can share a usb drive to be recognized by opl but folders no, following exact same method.

  • Thanks for the tutorial. Pretty clear instructions! Any way to make this happen via ubuntu share folder?

  • @JoaoCMBarbosa I don't know enough about ubuntu and how to share folders there. But its the same concept. Good luck!

  • @gamedexterity success @ following your guide with crossover cable. But through router no luck. Assigned ips, same mask, right eth cable, pc can ping ps2 but ps2 can't see games :S

  • and also, what is name of intro song? :)

  • @Kamil7124 Bandroid by Cracknation.

  • Nice tutorial, but i have one question. Can i get acces to hdd and play games when my computer is off?

  • @Kamil7124 No.

  • I keep getting stuck (i think it froze) on Network Countdown- 1. I followed your steps in the video, i also am using a Crossover Cable and Windows 7. Any Suggestions?

  • @CaptianPWN Did you see the blog tutorial?

  • @gamedexterity Yeah, but also no help.

  • @CaptianPWN Did you see my router tutorial I uploaded yesterday?

  • @gamedexterity Ill try to do the router version, ill check it out.

  • How do I use a router to boot games over network??? I've tried so many ways and still no sucess... can you help me? Or maybe make a tuturial like this.

    Thanks in advance :)

  • @kalashenicof Put in a youtube tutorial request, see gamedexterity, left hand side for the form. And maybe....I'll do a tutorial this weekend! - Versatile

  • @gamedexterity Request done, thanks for the attention

  • @kalashenicof Tutorial is up.

  • hi, i have a slim ps2 scph-90006 cb is there a way i can play games using HD?

  • @onikagemaru104 Maybe using swap magic and a disc version of OPL v.8, if it exists.

  • @gamedexterity my ps2 is running on modchip, but some of my games are loading too long using burned dvd copies :(

  • @onikagemaru104 So.....run them off of USB then!

  • is there somthing like this for the wii

  • @whitemamba345 Yup.

  • @whitemamba345 Yes there is.

  • @gamedexterity do you have a tutorial for it because my external harddrive broke and im just tired of this so i wanna run it off my pc

  • @whitemamba345 I personally do not. I know the wii can play games off the hard drive, but from the PC? That is new to me. Does wii have a network port?

  • @gamedexterity it has a wi-fi feature

  • @whitemamba345 I doubt streaming over wifi is going to sustain it for gameplay.

  • Hey, if I rip a game over 4 GB it gets corrupted, do I need to use the game option instead in Usbutil to install it into parts?

  • @TheDistortedImage I guess? I use usbextreme and that takes care of everything.

  • for me it worked only with NFS Most Wanted all the other games failed to lunch i have just black screen , i use OPL 0.8 and the methode which i rename the iso file to SLES_xxx.NameOfGame.iso , i also tried with USBUtil v2.0 to rip the games but fail :( ,some people say that the files need to be defragmented O_o !!!!! you think USBExtreme is better than USBUtil i don't know where is the problem !!?

  • @jonnah0 Use usextreme and format after install each game.

  • I have a game that the file size is more than 4GB, how i can put it to the FAT32 partition? For example Rouge Galaxy is a DVD9 Game, how to put it? Or maybe Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, it has 4.03GB, so... how?

    Thanks in advance...

  • @BeRnYGP Use usbextreme to rip the game, it takes care of all. - Versatile

  • The partition need to be in FAT 32???

  • @rapcracked yes

  • @rapcracked No, NTFS using usbextreme.

  • WHAT FILE FORMAT R THE GAMES

  • @m1k3l0v3sm4ck3nz1e Use usb extreme to rip the games to fat32 partition. - Versatile

  • no the net it has a caution sign and i cant get on the net

  • wen i change my ip to the 1 in the video it works but my net goes off what could i do to keep on my net - Versatile

  • @browneleft That's not right at all. You can still keep your internet. I use a wireless and ethernet cable and it works fine.

  • @gamedexterity it work but my net goes offf

  • @browneleft Do you really need your net when you are playing with your PS2?

  • @gamedexterity not really ya know

  • @gamedexterity why don't you show them how to keep the original settings ? all they have to do is to hit network info on computer and configure the ps2 to load from them

  • @contytub Maybe it was hindsight on my end. Nothing that a simple video description can't fix.

  • @contytub can you tell me what will the ps2 settings be in that case?

  • @mankindkn nr1. if u have static ip than GO to nr3. . nr2. if u use a router with dhcp assign static ip's for pc and console .... nr.3 write the pc ip in ip4 config and in the console and the console ip just in console and when u will change the cable to link the pc to the console or connect the console to the router this will work from the first time ,,, this way u will keep original internet setting from the pc not needeng to change them every time . sorry my eng :)

  • hi please help me i install open ps2 loader on my slim ps2 and conect my ps2 in my pc i rip game on my pc hard drive with usb extream butt all most game cant play only play shadow of the colossus, god of war 1, the king of fighter 2003,its game is playd on my ps2

  • Hey Versatile,

    winXP netbook with crossover cable

freemcboot MC on ps2 with openps2loader

    external hard drive (FAT32)

I followed everything in your text tutorial and the games won't show up on my ps2. The ps2 is clearly connected because my netbook shows a connection in "Local Area Connection." could you help a brother out?

P.S. I've tried connections (via your tutorial) on my win7 desktop and laptop, which both work fine, so the problem can't be the crossover cable or the hard drive. or ps2

  • @krnpride09 Did you get it figured out yet? YT doesnt do a good job notifying me of comments. What is your IP address for PC and PS2?

  • @gamedexterity PS2 IP: 192.168.0.10

    XP IP: 192.168.0.2

could there be an issue with hardware (i.e. my netbook isn't powerful enough to "process" the games through)? or are some ethernet ports incompatible with crossover cables?

this netbook is probably reaching it's 6th or 7th year now...

  • @krnpride09 See the blog tutorial. You sure you have a true crossover cable? Can you ping the PS2 during countdown?

  • @gamedexterity thanks for the quick reply versatile!

I went through the text tutorial again, no progress. I'm certain that this is a crossover cable; this whole process worked before on a different laptop with the same equipment (ps2, hard drive, and crossover cable). I'm not certain how to ping the PS2 during countown; can you explain how to do this?

  • @krnpride09 When it is doing the countdown, type in cmd ping 192.168.0.10. You should see a reply in ms.

  • plz help me !!..............the games on my USB hard drive only work on Network play ....when i plug it the the ps2 and try to play them,..they just get stuck on a color

  • @TheShak1911 Then use network play. - Versatile

  • @gamedexterity i will not be able to use it all the time

  • is cross over like ethernet cable connected direcly to your ps2 to your computer

  • @zapperay Yes, but the crossover cable actually has a different wiring structure when compared to the straight ethernet cable. - Versatile

  • do i have to use ESR patcher before I rip the games to the Hard Drive, using USB extream ?

  • i try everithing and not working :(

    I want plaayy! :'(

  • @SaraPatinhax Wrong answer. You didn't do it right. Follow the blog tutorial too. -Versatile

    Please help!

    Google tradutor fail xD

  • @SaraPatinhax See blog article.

  • Nao consigo! Já fiz a partição com a letra O: ja pus partilha avançada como voçê fez! Liguei um cabo de internet ao pc e á ps2 vou ao ps2loader e freeze quando esta a 1%

    Please help!

  • @SaraPatinhax English please! Or go to psx-scene(.)com forums for help. - Versatile

  • @gamedexterity Hey, does my external hard drive have to be in FAT32 format? Currently mine is in NTFS.

  • @misthafly That should be fine, use usbextreme to format. - Versatile

  • is there a program that can do the iso ripping better? without me having to click and drag repeatedly?

  • @shadowtuy Huh? Just use usb extreme! - Versatile

  • @gamedexterity i use a shared folder and the usb extreme only loads partitions is there and other way?

  • I dont want to have my PC open in order to play PS2 games through SMB network. Can I use for example a network hard disk with Samba settings and connect with ethernet cable in PS2 ?

  • @Alkis30 Yes, but requires more effort. - Versatile

  • I have 40 different games/ISOs with the GameID "PBPX_952.01" . I know that this GameID has been put there from Paradox when they patched the games... The problem is that I want those games to show correctly in OPL in order to play them. Can you please give me some instructions of how to change their gameIDs with the original ones so as to be correctly viewable and playable in OPL ? Thanks in advance !

  • Hey its me again lol. I tried doing SMB mode so I can not have choppy FMVs but now opl v.8 freezes on me when I start the app. this happened after I messed with the network config. Im using the router to ethernet method.

  • @Kenshinsama83 So retrack your changes and try it again. Defrag hard drive?

  • Alright, thanks!

  • Just for reference sake, how many external hdd's/partitions did you have on your computer when you made this tutorial?

  • @TheStinger951 I had about 6 or 7. I keep things organized, and its easier over the long run for defragging. - Versatile

  • @gamedexterity I got it working via the router method and am really happy with the results. Question though, can you share multiple folders? Can I have a PS2SMB folder on my USB external and main laptop hard drive shared at the same time?

  • @bryant1425 How about you just try it and see for yourself if it works? My initial thought is yes, but I haven't tried as I have zero need. - Versatile

  • @gamedexterity I made a partition and another PS2SMB folder and it did indeed work. Just had to change the shared folder to PS2SMB2 in OPL's settings. Seems like there's a little bit of lag compared to my external drive though. Weird.

  • get to the fucking point ffs

  • @sin1987runescape Thanks for the comment. We get people pissed at us no matter what. If I did a short tutorial, people bitch because it was too compact. Then if I add more detail, i get yelled at because some people hate that. The newer ps2 tutorials are more lean than this one.

  • hey versatileyou help me a lot thank you.but i have one question: can i boot ps1 games instead ps2??can you answer please.thank you

  • @pikaro1231 Yes, see my PS2 PSX video, but its only for discs, not from hd. - Versatile

  • Hi there. Thank you for the informative video. I'd like to do something like this, but not exactly the same: can you directly connect a hard drive inside of an ethernet external enclosure to the PS2's ethernet port?

I'd like to dodge hooking the HDD up to my home network, and keep the PS2 setup as a standalone rig. I'm strongly considering getting a PS2 and doing this, but I'm unsure about this, and appreciate your help. Thanks again.

  • @boreu2death I am not sure if you gotten the chance to watch my other PS2 playlist yet. You can do it such that you connect a hard drive external enclosure to the PS2 through USB. I am not familiar with an enclosure that has Ethernet port on it so you can connect through crossover cable between the PS2 and the external enclosure? Nonetheless, the USB method has been done many times before. I suggest you use FMCB, but you want a model under SCPH-9XXXX to make life simple. Good luck! - Versatile

  • Hey, i just bought a ps2 slim for my gf a few weeks ago, the thing is that the ps stops reading and freezes after like 2 or 3 min that it has been on, i tried taking the memory card out an using diff cd´s but still same thing, wish u could help me out with that one

  • @dyamzc Wait, you have a GF that plays playstation? Mad props to you man! Did you get this new from the store, or where did you get it from? I never heard of a PS2 slim that stops after a few minutes. I doubt the PS2 is overheating (can it?) because I had a hardcore PS2 slim session the other night for 6+ hours and it was doing fine. - Versatile

  • @gamedexterity well i bought it from a guy that was selling it over the internet, lucky for me i know where he lives :p but yes the ps2 stops working like after 2 or minutes, it doesnt even get inside the game itself, stops while its charging, its not the memory card cuz ive tried without it and its the same thing, and for last instance just cleaned the lense... :S

  • @dyamzc Maybe that's why he sold it? Sounds very shady man. - Versatile

  • can you copy games on a internal HDD??

  • @TheVGGP Never tried with fat and internal hd. Go look at psx scene. - Versatile

  • first i want this version of god of war :D

second what is this theme is this for 0.8 i need this theme

  • @qazxsw123ful This is just a DVD5 copy of God of War 2. For the theme, that is default theme for opl v.7. See the opl v.8 video. - Versatile

  • hey i wanna know if i cant afford to connect my ps2 directly to the router....can i use my laptop as a bridge connection?

  • @maro007111 Yes, just buy a crossover cable. See my monoprice dat com video now. - Versatile

  • Hey! Thanks for all the great videos and tutorials, thanks to you I successfully installed FreeMcboot on my MC and it is a great app. now I have a question, can I use the ethernet cable that came with my XBOX360? The thing is...I have a PS2 Slim connected to my PC, I did everything you explain on the video but the OPL doesnt seem to read the games off the shared HDD so I dont know what Im missing...I have WINXP by the way. Thank you!!

  • @josele21 Great!!!! How did you install it by the way ? The cable that came with your Xbox 360...I'm afraid that is just a regular normal ethernet cable, not crossover cable. I suggest you go purchase one. Check out my video on monoprice dat com. You can get a crossover cable for less than 2 dollars for 6 ft? Sick deal! - Versatile

  • @gamedexterity Thank u for the quick replay! I installed OPL like u show in one of you videos. I tried a USB HDD and it worked fine so I tought it would work with the ethernet thing... I was thinking the cable was the problem too... im gonna get a crossover cable and let u know the result! Thank you! I installed the games using the USBExtreme app. Thank you!!

  • @gamedexterity Hey, will this work for my ps2 or not? Specifications

    SCPH-90006 CB (Slim)

    M5 Mod Chip

    NTSC J

  • @TheMuhammadAsad You can run OPL yes off of usb using ulaunchelf then.

  • @gamedexterity AWESOME!!!! thanks for the reply.

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for the reply but the only mods that worked on ps2 games were mods that replaced files. If I tried to add new files to the game it would freeze at a white screen. Also Sometimes if it was a mod that replaced a file the game would freeze at the games loading screen. If you were successful at moding games can you tell me what software you used and how you did it. I uses Apache to replace files and Magiciso to add new files.

  • @mctricks123 Two comments: 1) I never bothered to mod my games. No interest and not good use of my time. However, I did have to insert a dummy file into a PS2 game once to make it boot. 2) If you see white screen, I ask you defrag your hard drive. You need to have 0% defragmented files. Otherwise, you get a white screen freeze. - Versatile

  • DUDE ALL OF YOUR OTHER VIDEO DIDNT MAKE ANY SENSE BUT I LOVE YOU FOR THIS ONE MAAAAAAAAN

  • @143421434214342k I'm sorry man, the other videos do make sense. I ask you to rewatch them again and again until it sinks into your brain. I can help you exploit your PS2, but you need to understand the basics. - Versatile

  • How did you break your hard drive into like 8 different sections? Are those all different hard drives listed? I have a 250 gb powered external drive, that has 210 gb open. How do I make a few sections of FAT32, from this NTFS drive? It says Im going to erase everything on the drive, if I make it fat32.

  • @thatbastardson You can use a program like partition magic or paragon disk partitioner. Take that free space and make new partitions out of it. I have lots of partitions on my hard drives, just to keep data tidy. Remember, you want to use FAT32 if you are sharing over SMB. If you are doing USB, then you want a FAT32 primary partition, not NTFS. - Versatile

  • @thatbastardson ahh so you need software to do this. got it. im still mind blown, and trying to take this all in. thanks.

  • @thatbastardson There are free tools I do believe for partition your hard drive. I just uploaded a new PS2 tutorial today on NES roms on the PS2. I highly recommend you check out the PS2 playlist on our channel. Now is a damn good time to fall in love with the PS2. :) - Versatile

  • @gamedexterity no worries. should i go with free mc boot 1.8b noobie package? Is that missing anything, or does it just make it easier to install?

  • @thatbastardson Yes go with noobie package. - Versatile

  • Ugh... every time a glint of light shows up on my quest to play my backups I run into trouble...

I only have an NTFS hdd to plug in, but I wonder if I could partition part of it to be FAT32 and share the folder from there?

  • @HotPocketEXE Did you watch the OPL v.8 video yet? >_> You need to use a program like partition magic or similar where you can take your existing hard drive, shrink a partition, and create new space in the free space and format it as fat 32. - Versatile

  • @gamedexterity Argh I completely missed that video... Thanks Versatile.

  • Does this work with modded ps2 games and does it work with open ps2 loader 0.8

  • @mctricks123 Yes and yes. I'm playing off of SMB right now with opl v.8. - Versatile

  • Does this work with modded ps2 games and does it work with open ps2 loader 0.8

  • The FAT32 partition worked like a charm (with the ISOs). I don't know how others have gotten it to work on NTFS, but that did the trick for me. Thank you very much for your assistance.

  • @rawdatalab My answer is from experience and from suffering. Hell, I have a RED annotation that says do not use NTFS but use FAT32. :) - Versatile

  • I've watched this video and read the comments and blog. Still can't get OPL v0.8 to see my ISOs. The IPs are all correct, and the ISOs reside in a DVD directory in my PS2SMB share on my NTFS drive on my XP machine. They're renamed properly using the iso2opl utility. Firewall is off. Username and password for the XP login are entered (since I don't use Simple File Sharing). Cables are fine; I can ping the PS2 and it can get online. Any ideas why my game list is coming up empty?

  • @rawdatalab I have not tried the ISO method, as that requires a lot of messing around to get the special ISO name right. Let's start easy though. If you rip the game using usb extreme and share it in that folder, does the OPL recognize it? I was helping a user through teamviewer once, spent over 3 hours, and realized that if he shared the folder on a FAT32 partition, it worked! Try it! - Versatile

  • How to set SMB on Win XP, and on my Win 7 don't work SMB. P.S. Bad English.!

  • @vytas9425 Read the BLOG article and rewatch the video over and over.

  • Hey there, the ingame movies for Shadow hearts, Devil may cry 3 and Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne all lag (some a little bit, others alot) I was wondering how I could fix this?

  • @ImperviousMason Try defragging the games and try again.

  • @gamedexterity I did and the cutscenes still lag

  • @ImperviousMason If you play off of SMB and it still lags, maybe there is no hope. My god of war 2 didn't lag, so I can't help out further. Ask PSX-Scene for comment. - Versatile

  • hey there.... what is the best version of ps2 (slim or fat)(in your point of view) and what model improved much by the time you mess with those ps2s...

since you got more theoretical and technical knowledge i would be very grateful for your advice ...thanks in advance

  • @giodemon I have both a fat and a slim ps2, and I bought a used PS2 slim years ago because: 1) I wanted the ethernet port to play games over SMB, and 2) Play backed up PSX games. Plus, the slim is more portable and uses less power than the fat.

  • @gamedexterity yes but fat ps2 also has the Ethernet port and also it has HDD capability (which slim does not) and those psx games you mentioned are also playable on fat isn it ....

  • @giodemon Yes, and if you have a fat with the ethernet port you are very lucky, because no way in hell I am going to spend 50+ dollars trying to find the network adapter for my fat ps2. If you got it, then playing games off the internal HDD is by far the BEST option ever. The FAT PS2 can play PSX games yes, but I never got it to play backed up PSX games until I moved onto my slim with version 9 for psxlauncher. I tried the psx swap on my fat ps2 version 3, and it was a no go. - Versatile

  • @gamedexterity well it appears that im like one since i have also Action Replay v.2 and it has another CD called (Bonus) which does alsmost same what Swapmagic and your free to go on PSX games...

but i have some problems and think you can handle it man... when i start openps2loader there are various options to start the game, from external HDD and Internal right ? since i have both i usually play from external because the only way game appears in OPS2L is games from USB... what the hell ?

  • @gamedexterity and second , since my fat PS2 isnt MODED(without MODCHIP) i cant install games on internal HDD since it (HD LOADER) wont read burnded games ...so im stuck with this low speed skipping thing from external USB HDD and it really pisses me off to know that i have ability to play it with full speed and for some reason i CANT...is there any way to install or put games in to my PS2 HDD..? and how to make that ps2l read HDD coz i came across that some folks work with it/// pleez help

  • @giodemon Consult psx-scene forums. HDLoader is the best and fastest way to play games.

  • Ok first 4 minutes you didnt say much other than you're using a PS2 slim and you need to already have loading capabilities.

  • @schnappy00 : For those that are new to the whole method, I have to make sure there is enough information otherwise there are more and more questions. I cannot satisfy everyone, and I have done both short tutorials and long tutorials. Either way people are bitching because they are too long or too short. Thanks for your input. Do you want to make a newer tutorial and show how its done then?
