I believe that's a misinterpretation... Saiyuki isn't a yaoi manga/anime. Yes, all the protagonists are male, but there are no overtly romantic or sexual overtures between any of them at any point that I can recall.
However, that's not to say the fanbase for the show has any problems in CREATING romantic and sexual relationships between them in fanart, fanfiction, et cetera. My point is that it doesn't exist in the actual source material.

When I was still living with my mom I told her What it really ment.
"Yaoi is a Japanese word, which is actually something of an acronym. It comes from "Yama nashi, Ochi nashi, Imi nashi", which means "no climax, no point, no meaning"
And told her the Yaoi Manga was just a fun way of saying it was raw entertainment, and that we were reconizeing that nothing would come of it. IT was an inside joke for Anime fans!She belived me until she googled it.

I never had that problem. when i first started, i was a hardcore yaoi fan. so when i told my mom she was ok with it. i like told her what fanfics or what ever i read or watched. when i got a little older it got a bit embarrassing, she never showed disgust or anything. so nowadays i hide her the fact that i still like yaoi, even thoug i'm not that obsessed about it anymore.
