I have this movie on both VHS and DVD. When I first saw this on VHS in English,they showed Lynn telling Raho to stop when he was getting reday to stomp Kenshiro. After buying the one in Japanese with no English subs also on VHS,they showed Kenshiro and Raoh getting ready to go for another round which also had Lynn yelling YAMEH!!!!!!!!. The Japanese version on DVD now has the Streamline Pictures version.

@Thermalfiredotcom You Can. At Discotek Medic dot com. They sell it for about 19 dollars on DVD with both the american and japanese on one disc. You can pirate it I think, but it's hard to find the japanese in good quality. So I recommend the dvd.

@Nemesis0300 I had already bought the discotek media version. I own the original vhs copy, and a pirated one I got from a comic convention a couple years back. Its just that, like the last two, even the discotek media version, although it has the best visuals, still has that 'haze filter' effect during the really brutal head exploding scenes. Great movie nonetheless.

@JonasVanRetro There is an anime which is lengthy and enjoyable. But if you're going to watch it, watch ep 1 2 and 3 of the first season, than skip to the season finally and watch the rest. There is literally 20 episodes of Kenshiro just punching people. There is also a magnificent manga comic, which if you can even find one anymore, read it. And there is the movie, which is amazingly good.

@backfandango actually it was good we get the fullscreen version, why?, because most japanese animated films are animated in full screen and BADLY cropped to widescreen, why BADLY, well because they dont really pay attention to animate in open matte format like americans do with certain movies, so that they allow to keep most of the elements in the center of the screen without awkward shots, but the japanese dont care.

Unfortunately, nobody knows if an uncut print of this movie still exists. The studio had to blur out the violent bits because of a parental uproar (why else, right?) in Japan over the extreme content. There's always the chance that the original theatrical cut is sitting in the basement of one of the editors right now, but that doesn't mean that it's gonna see the light of day anytime soon. Still, don't ever give up hope!

@theman91867 Depends on what you mean by uncut. The DVD by Discotek Media is the most intact that I'm aware of (in the US), though the more violent scenes look sourced from a VHS tape. Then of course there's all the weird effects that I believe were done in the original Japanese version to obscure some of the violence, so a truly uncut DVD is likely to never surface.

Looks to be. The Discotek DVD looks REALLY good...save for a lot of the ultra-violent scenes that were cut out when it was initially released over here. Those scenes look really bad...and look to be transferred from a third-generation VHS tape. It makes me cry.

But, it's the first time the film's ever been available subbed and "uncensored" over here, so it's a great buy. Get it from Discotek Media themselves--$18 with free first class shipping.
