I can't belive you stacked all those shingle on you "MOMS" roof prior to getting the other weight off, especially on a roof with no main ridge, and 2' oc trusses.
Too bad there is no warranty. The guy is not fastening the shingles where the laminates join so if the laminate loosens up and slides out then the manufacturer will void the warranty. Not sure if the gun pressure is set right to prevent the nails from sinking too deep, which will lso void the warranty. Read the back of the bag and it'll explain the warranty. Not to mention the gun was never meant to go that fast. see gun operation. It messes up the diaphram in the gun head.

how can you put plastic shingles on the roof as the summer is very hot and the shingles would basically melt away like a gum and in winter the singles are not thick enough to insulate properly the roof from cold air?to me it is a very cheap material.it looks like home owners dont get a good advice and roof men earn lots of money they dont care people have to get it replaced every year.homeowners should get tiles on the roofs.

@TransAmLuvr cool, overcast days. Not bright, hot, wet or freezing. but, roofers take the work when they can get it! The guys who did our roof did so just before the snow flew, and it was already starting to ice up overnight. They nearly slid off on several occassions. If you hire a roofer, pay them well! They work their rumps off.
Im no expert in roofing but I know that was a shitty job the guy did for our roof lol. Mom doesn't wanna waste money she wants it cheap and dont care if it turns out good at times. So anyways is there anything that I should be concern in the future? The house is going to be pass on to me and I can already tell that the roof is dripping and could tell that the ceiling is getting bumby for some reason.
My mom has this STUPID habit of not hiring license contractors and always hire morons that have no expierence or no idea when it comes to home improvments. So she got this guy we know that all he did was put the new shingles on top of the old shingles, he used nails that were so long that you can see the nails sticking on the buttom and at the edges of the roof its not even straight its all crooked.

yes, i cant stand when people put the shingles on top, ive had triple strips, and adding more shingles ontop of eachother doesnt make it more water tight, they deteriorate a lot quicker from the sun , and it looks like shit , and you;ll probably have a leaky roof, most of the time with double or triple strips there is deck repair to be done never had a quad strip yet though, we';ll see what happens
wow i had to learn this(on paper) coz im in australia. Iv never seen this done here but the MBA (Master Builders Assosiation) need us to have a working knowlege. eg how big gaps ect . Its never done here and only sometimes in New Zealand. Do you guys have shitty things like that where you are?
I install these shingles in New Zealand, and the shingle suppliers here will only supply to certified installers. We usually do these on the big expensive homes as the freight from the USA makes these roofs expensive compared to our standard metal roofing and concrete tiles.
This job wouldn't make the grade here, some of the shingle end joins too close, and the strandboard deck is not compliant with our Building Code, either.
Nice accurate shooting, good tunes, and you know how to stock your guns. I've taken to ditching the belt and stocking coils between the stacks. I also make some cool tear off tools you might like.
wow... i just watched this wideo and i think the only thing u did right was prep the roof with ur ice and water and felt... now on the other hand... u guys didn put down any h-clips wit ur osb, no flashing on the walls or chinmey, and im pretty sure ur shingles r suppose to be steped more then 2 inches.... some advice... use h-clips put lead in ur chinmey easier to mold and dependin on the size of ur shingles step them 6 - 8 inches... u can use ur cut off's and take it up 5 steps at a time.

You only need four nails per shingle, not six unless it's a high wind area. And where's your ladder hold-outs? You don't want to damage the eave-trough do you? It took seven guys seven hours to re-roof twenty squares on what looked liked a slope of four. It's because of your weak clean-up method, I'd recommend parking the dump truck close to the house so you can throw the old shingles directly into the truck. Also look into red rippers. And you screwed up without putting any starter down.
Hey did your chimney have flashing? Or do you do it after wards? And what about step flashing up the wall, on the garage where it meets the house. I didnt see 1 step!!!!! Besids that, awesome job. It is a walkable roof, i'm just wondering about the way you removed the old shingles, i mean you could have thrown the debris into the dumpster at once, it make it easier, doing so, you 7!! guys could have it done in less time. I agree every one have a diferent way to work, i do it like you when working on steep roofs ONLY. On a pitch like that, it takes me 1 hour or less to remove the whole roof, how? using a saw and cut pieces from the gutter to the peak of the roof. blessings.

Dont get COMFORTABLE ON A ROOF, in a way it feels easy as cake, its a common veteran mistake.

@TransAmLuvr cool, overcast days. Not bright, hot, wet or freezing. but, roofers take the work when they can get it! The guys who did our roof did so just before the snow flew, and it was already starting to ice up overnight. They nearly slid off on several occassions. If you hire a roofer, pay them well! They work their rumps off.

Im no expert in roofing but I know that was a shitty job the guy did for our roof lol. Mom doesn't wanna waste money she wants it cheap and dont care if it turns out good at times. So anyways is there anything that I should be concern in the future? The house is going to be pass on to me and I can already tell that the roof is dripping and could tell that the ceiling is getting bumby for some reason.

My mom has this STUPID habit of not hiring license contractors and always hire morons that have no expierence or no idea when it comes to home improvments. So she got this guy we know that all he did was put the new shingles on top of the old shingles, he used nails that were so long that you can see the nails sticking on the buttom and at the edges of the roof its not even straight its all crooked.
Question: All the things i mention is going to cause future problems for the house?

yes, i cant stand when people put the shingles on top, ive had triple strips, and adding more shingles ontop of eachother doesnt make it more water tight, they deteriorate a lot quicker from the sun , and it looks like shit , and you;ll probably have a leaky roof, most of the time with double or triple strips there is deck repair to be done never had a quad strip yet though, we';ll see what happens

wow i had to learn this(on paper) coz im in australia. Iv never seen this done here but the MBA (Master Builders Assosiation) need us to have a working knowlege. eg how big gaps ect . Its never done here and only sometimes in New Zealand. Do you guys have shitty things like that where you are?

I install these shingles in New Zealand, and the shingle suppliers here will only supply to certified installers. We usually do these on the big expensive homes as the freight from the USA makes these roofs expensive compared to our standard metal roofing and concrete tiles.
This job wouldn't make the grade here, some of the shingle end joins too close, and the strandboard deck is not compliant with our Building Code, either.

wow... i just watched this wideo and i think the only thing u did right was prep the roof with ur ice and water and felt... now on the other hand... u guys didn put down any h-clips wit ur osb, no flashing on the walls or chinmey, and im pretty sure ur shingles r suppose to be steped more then 2 inches.... some advice... use h-clips put lead in ur chinmey easier to mold and dependin on the size of ur shingles step them 6 - 8 inches... u can use ur cut off's and take it up 5 steps at a time.

You only need four nails per shingle, not six unless it's a high wind area. And where's your ladder hold-outs? You don't want to damage the eave-trough do you? It took seven guys seven hours to re-roof twenty squares on what looked liked a slope of four. It's because of your weak clean-up method, I'd recommend parking the dump truck close to the house so you can throw the old shingles directly into the truck. Also look into red rippers. And you screwed up without putting any starter down.

Hey did your chimney have flashing? Or do you do it after wards? And what about step flashing up the wall, on the garage where it meets the house. I didnt see 1 step!!!!! Besids that, awesome job. By the way only one guy steped the shingles properly as well. Not being picky, just if your moms roof ever leaked GAF wouldn't warrenty it because of improper installation. Keep up the good work. It is a walkable roof, i'm just wondering about the way you removed the old shingles, i mean you could have thrown the debris into the dumpster at once, it make it easier, doing so, you 7!! guys could have it done in less time. I agree every one have a diferent way to work, i do it like you when working on steep roofs ONLY. On a pitch like that, it takes me 1 hour or less to remove the whole roof, how? using a saw and cut pieces from the gutter to the peak of the roof. blessings.
