  • It's not bulgarian and not greek and not romanian . It's AROMANIAN VLACH . My grandfather can make one quickly . He is a good gaida singer but he is too old and cannot sing anymore he is 83.

  • would you sell me one?

  • Bagpipes were invented in Africa. Dumbasses.

  • Knifed91 .... no not everything comes from Greece.... but for things they existed here we may talk

We are not going to die or something if gaida is proven not Greek but the fact of history is that Greeks have been playing it since antiquity at a time Bulgarians were still either a slavic or a mongol tribe in siberia and turks were a mongol tribe raiding chinese....

And as far as I know there in Siberia or in Mongolia they do not have that style of music equipment.

But I do not fucking care..

  • play the Xena theme

  • Congrats Cory...you're great man.....I'm amazed how australian plays a bagpipe....but I have G1 bagpipe, and it doesn't sounds like this, I think it have to be higher (shrilled than that). Keep going on what you do....it's amazing, really!!!!

  • Congratulations!

  • great tune Mr. Cory :)

Have look on Polish bagpipes - hoping you will like it ;)

  • Hi Cory,

I'm a gaida beginner from Germany and I've got some questions: I've got a G-gaida here, but is it possible to play A-minor songs on a G-gaida and to adjust the drone to it? If so: What are the finger charts? Or should I purchase another gaida in D or anything else? What would you recommend?

    Greetings from Bavaria

    PS: Thx for this video!

  • Lovely piping. I play the uilleann pipes but my family comes from the north of greece and bulgaria so always loved the gajda sound. What is the piece of music you played called?

  • This sound here is not from northern Greece(Thrace). They have a more higher pitch like D. I was just there a few months ago and I met Pasxalis Xristdis.

  • yay nice playing cousin!!

  • how did you cure the skin and made it pliable?

  • bravo majstore srce mi zaigra be bas na duovden :)

  • Hey Man, your a F____N champion!!

ive always love this instrument form the day i was born. Youve inspired me to do something about it and learn to play it. I bought a Djoura Gaida in G/sol and no nothing about music so here gos hey!. What do i use to clean and soften the hide? aslo what would be my next step in learning this instrument?? Thanks.

  • very good

  • hey tapaci cool off...I never said kaba gajda is greek...kaba gajda is bulgarian 100%! But the whole idea of the gajda is greek :)

  • Some say it comes from Thracia and there are some references in the bible that mention it in connection with Babylon, so no one really knows. :P

  • Ok...if you say so...cite it. :) If you cite it to me I ll answer to this. I wont respond to something I read here, from someone I dont know.

  • you must be quite tall to play those gaidas, guess why...

  • Ones more, i think this one ist the first australian gaida, now you kan also diskast whit the "nationalistikal profesors" from Bulgaria, Macedonia and Grees hier et your comment-list, may be you make a foto whit aborigens ho play gaida and you kan say to the "profesors" that gaida koms from Ausralia to the balkan ;)

    Keep playing well.

  • Veri nice, is it easy to made one, or need some mashins.

Sound ist not like makedonian, greek or bulgarian gaida, your sound ist like gaida.

    Pozdrawi ot Balgaria

  • were i can buy one gaida?

  • Браво Майсторе!

  • Beautiful!

  • you are a very fine player.

  • pppfffffffff hahahahahahaha

stupid greeks if i ask you everything comes from Greece

if aliens come you also will say they were born in greece hahahahaha

hey maybe the turks came from greece?

  • haha ROFL , he's actually right (; ...

  • Sorry man... everyone claims one land. The truth is multi-faceted. To your/their liking or not. I don't think we all know the truth, even if we read the books. The books are always written with some little agenda and perspective.

Pirin is as much its own region as Vardar and Egej. You might as well split Bulgaria into its composite ethographic/dialectial regions. For greater Bulgaria/Macedonia/Greece... we have to understand we are part of a bigger whole.

  • Hey barbarian...I ve got only one thing to say about macedonia.Firstly it s damn greek and secondly, I d suggest you to read real history from a neutral historian, and not from your bloody provocators. That s all.Oh, and I forgot to mention that Macedonian in greece means tall.

  • Oh, i forget to tell u - air comes from Greece to.And the Earth - don't u know? And the stars may be...

  • I never said that CABA gajda is a greek instrument, but that gajda comes from greece itself. And yes of course the word isnt greek, but the greek word for that is askaulos=bagpipe. If you could just open a greek history book you ll see that in our ancient wallpaintings and staff there are inoumerous figures of askaulos(gajda) players. Not to mention the greek mythology, tha describes that the gajda came from the a satyr named Marsias. You know...these guys with the big cocks...That s all.

  • Greek Gaida player here!Nice Rodopka!May the gajda be an instrument that comes from greece, but Bulgarians are proffesional players of their style!Bravo!Although Im from greece Im a fan of Bulgarian music!

  • OMGGGGGGGG nothing greek's in BULGARIAN CABA GAIDA noob you a patetic like "macedonians" as they called them selfes Caba Gaida is natural bulgarian instrument even the name isnt greek

  • thank you for posting. Very nice! I am just starting to learn piping. It is interesting to see all styles of piping. Amazing that you could complete building from start to finish so quickly.

  • Oh! Its sooo great!

A very nice bagpipe! I like this Gaida very much!

    Greetings from Germany!

    Rob

  • Was that really a Bulgarian Gajda? It sounded like a Macedonian one. Nice playing, anyway.
