  • Subbed. Excellent film with some familiar Roundhouse friends, which you´ll also find on the Kent & North Wales Light Railway on Youtube.

  • The loco is by Roundhose Engineering and is at a scale of 16mm to the foot. Can run on either 32 or 45mm gauge track.

  • who makes these live steam models and what scale?

  • 1. SM32 track and 16mm scale,

2 The coaches are all Brandbright kits - excellent products they build to almost exhibition standards with care.

  • I have a few questions:

    1:Is this SM32/SM45 or G-Gauge

2:Where did you get those coaches?

  • Great 'little' film!

    Nice Camera work!

  • who makes the fine figures? the driver, passengers, etc. Good shots of close up run by, trackside views.

yes, the coaches r superb too. perhaps, on ur nxt shot, some on-board camera shot would be nice but don't keep the camera on there too long as many of these garden RR shots were made. intermix with outside shots! enjoyed ur film very much. is it possible to smoothen the loco's movement (slow n' steady) backing up switching?

  • @5utube12

    Thank you for your comments,

The passengers are a mixture of plastic G scale figures from Preiser, mostly purchased unpainted and then finished with Acrylics, the loco drivers and fireman are from Jons models - usually to found at most of the major exhibitions. The video could be improved with additional cut aways and tighter editing but the software used for editing does not make the stretching of the video signal look smooth.

The whistle is certainly odd - but works.

  • Absolutely wondrous! The chuffer is very effective on this model, too. the layout really brings back memories of Wales to me and mrs tac.

  • what is the light blue model in he shed

  • What a superb video of a brilliant garden railway. Your Roundhouse locos and Brandbright carriages look fantastic running around your very picturesque track. Which camera do you use to get these excellent shots?

  • @PineTreeJunction

The camera used was a Canon MD160 Digital widescreen

  • @steamoil Thanks. Great little camera and an even better cameraman!

  • @steamoil i thought it was real good vid but why the whisle sound so funny

  • @steamoil

The engine you refer to is a Roundhouse Katie with a full lining and paint job by Lightline plus the addition of extra detailing parts mainly from Brandbright.

  • what is the minimum radias of vale of rheidol

  • @u1638

The Vof R loco will go round the Peco ST605 Setrack with the 2'6'' radius but larger radius is to be prefered if you don't want it to look slightly with a large overhang. Also with sometypes of couplings you could have trouble with buffer lock leading to derailments.

  • Great Railway you got! I'd love to have one of these loco's.. If you don't mind me asking but how much do the carriages cost? And where can i get them from? And how has your platform been made?

    Cheers

    Jac

  • @JacSGWR

The coach kits are from Brandbright and Perfect World. The average cost is about £150 each. They do require some skill and time in building if a quality finish is to be achieved.

The platforms are concrete sections and from GRS in Princes Risborough

With fencing from the same supplier sprayed green with car paint from Halfords. They are stuck down to the concrete base with Gripfil.

  • Do You Have Any Other Engines Other Than GWR Owain Glyndwr

  • I have now fitted Summerland Chuff pipes to all of my UK built Roundhouse engines i.e. Katie,Russell and Lady Ann.

Ran Lady Ann today on outdoor garden line -cold 3 degreeesC but looked and sounded great,

  • Cool Im Saving to get Owain Glyndwr

  • The Roundhouse V of R loco is a super runner and worth every penny( dollar) of its cost. I bought the large gas tank and fitted whistle version. Worth having it lined out by Lightline to create the authentic livery.

This can be organised through Roundhouse direct

  • are they brandbright coaches?

  • The closed coaches are indeed from Brandbright carefully built to achive a near museum standard of build - timeconsuming but well worth the effort.

I should have pointed out that the opensided coach is another excellent kit this time from Perfect World built and finished to the same standard as the closed coaches. Glad you liked the video.

  • cheers

you have done a nice job on them, i intend to buy a BB one one day, but its a bit expensive.

  • funny how the couplings magically change from the start of the video!

    Great video anyway. 5"

just bought myself one of these fine locos

  • Well spotted indeed the couplings have been changed from the usual centre three link buffers to the Accucraft round head ones half way through the shoot. Continuity is always a problem in any video or film shoot. I just hoped that no one would notice the minor change!

  • The loco is great.... the coaches are awesome!

  • SUPERB!!!

  • Blimey! Puts all myy efforts to shame! Great loco, great chuff and a very nice set of coaches.

    Harry.

  • Marvelous! There is something very impressive about those large VoR tank locos. A lovely chuff too!

  • I agree with Chris. And I must say, this is one of the best garden railway videos I've seen!

  • FANTASTIC Iain! I loved every minute - a super railway, beautiful loco and coaches, great filming and editing - and, if I may say so, a patticularly fine chuff ;-)

    Cheers

    Chris
