Anyone try the ringtone maker program iringer? it's free, easy to use, has some effects like fading,volume control, etc. and requires 0 modding or alterations. Itunes picks it up just like a purchased ringtone. Only drawback is that you can only make 30 sec. clips. It works for All Iphone models. it should say something with aac in it. its not always the same per itunes, but it will always have aac somewher and so u juss click it and follow the rest of the directions.

Managed to sort it. You might want to tell people that you need to uncheck the time boxes once you have converted. Otherwise when palying normal music the track will cut short. If that makes sense.

I found this to be the best Video of how to add a ringtone. The others dont work.

i was able to follow your steps and had the song under my itune's ringtone folder; however, when i connected my iphone with iTune, the newly created ringtone did not sync into my iphone( it did not appear as one of the ringtone option in the ringtone box where you can actually seclect the desired ringtone to transfer from you iTune to your iPhone). if you have time please help me figure this out

I've done everything correctly...my only problem is that...When I try to sync the ringtone into my iphone, the ringtone doesn't appear into the tab ringtone...the whole thing is empty..there's no selection of ringtones that I could use from. My iPhone is a 3G and the file i cut was about 40 seconds. So i don't know where I went wrong..If you can give me some advice please do. ^_^ thanks for the tutorial

I had the same problem. Here is what I found out. Not all the music that you convert this way will appear on your phone. For me I made around 10 ringtones and only 5 of them showed up on my phone. Go figure. I don't know why it does that.

So try making 5-6 (different) rigtones and one of them is bound to show up.

go to configuration screen-> folder options-> and then go to the 2nd tab "display" or something like it-> uncheck the box with"hide unknow file extensions". Now you should see the extension behind the file you want to make a ringtone from. change it to .m4r and then use iTunes to import, it will automatically be a ringtone.
