Great documentary! I love Fire Salamanders :-) I live in Bavaria and I saw one in the woods as I was a child - but since then I never found one again, they're hiding really well :-) Grüße aus Deutschland
Inspired by this video I went to search for fire salamanders from a nearby pond (I live currently in Northern Spain). I had never seen a salamander before but as I arrived to the forrest I bumped into one almost immediately and was able to take some nice photos. These videos are awesome. Keep up the good work Bryan!
I've just discovered a fire salamander on my yard in Bretagne, France. My cats tried to go for it but I frightened them because of the poisonous look of the beast! Right I was, it seems. What happens if a cat gets hold of one and it secrets its poisons?
cool, I've seen many fire salamanders in the summer when I go back home to Serbia. Most of the ones I've found are in the larval stage in the summer, but I have seen some on land as well. The ones you found are also bigger in comparison to the ones that i've run into. Overall the biodiversity of central and southern European forests is amazing. Here in Vancouver the amphibious variety is also pretty rich.
thanks for the documentary it was very intresting. I have just found out that there are some alpine newts near to my home in The UK they are only present in a few places in the country so im going to hopfully see them tomorow.

Outstanding piece of Natural History. I will look for local populations in Southern France myself, this was very helpful.
