Against a skilled player I won't even get in the base. But the new kids in my league don't wall in sometimes or not quickly enough. Could someone please explain the huge advantage of Speed/bane over roach? I have been going roach (and typically followed by hydras, but not always) ZvZ to pretty good success for a good while and i jus can't imagine usin zerglings/banelings, roaches are jus so much stronger and safer and like u said even if they go mutas, if u go roaches u shud be able to stop an expo, 1base mutas takes FOREVER to kill mass roaches. so yeah can someone please explain the huge advantage?

@gumcannon well I also started playing zerg and all I do is roach rush, but the advantage of a zergling/baneling opening is that it gives you protection early game against rushes and banelings will help you break through defenses easily and harass as much as possible early game. That's gonna set them back the whole game. So against a terran player or protoss player, go for the supply depots/pylons or the workers. And that's gonna stall unit production like a bitch.

But what I meant was in a ZvZ setting why is Zerg/bane preferred over roaches because everytime i encounter a zerg/bane and im going roaches i have no problem tearing thru my enemies units

@gumcannon The general idea is that roaches are tough to kill but not as numerous. With speed/bane, you get the massive numbers of speedlings and the monsterous aoe acid damage of banes against unarmored units. The idea is you drown your foe in lings.
