all car glass is tempered glass that will shatter in to tiny pieces...

and usaly the back glass has a curve to it, look at the vid and

notice how "flat" the glass looks.

You'd be surprised; knightsticks can be quite heavy, and since the rear-windshield isn't laminated like the front one, it can be quite susceptible to shattering. Or they were using prop-glass :-D
