great vids i had a major prob with my garden when we moved here as it was an old barn which had caved in and a lot of large trees where here as well so we removed as many as myself and 13yrs son could and are using the rocks to make walls and bounderies to raise the beds the hardest part is finding the soil, as it is very exspensive in france we are also fortunate enough to be surrounded by hazel nut trees so i am using the branches for fences if anyone wants to know how e-mail me
You know with as much wind as u seem to be getting there so often have u thought about using wind power for your electricity? Some places even get to sell their excess electricity back to the electric company. It's a thought anyway. Not sure how much it would cost putting it in,tho.
That's pretty cool. I also have my raised beds going great guns up in the states. Check out my videos at DanOmanno is you get a chance. I also noticed a shadow of what looks like a wind anemometer - do you have a weather station at your location?
Nice. I did something similar last year to even out my sloped garden. I raised one end nearly 2 ft. and the sides up some too using stones from the area. A lot of work but it looks awesome and no more run off.
This years challenge is keeping the cats out, they've been digging up my spinach seedlings and chewing on them. Any idea's how to keep cats out short of buying more fence?
Grow sweetgrass for them Hierochlöe odorata is the Latin name..many different kinds are called sweetgrass but Hierochlöe odorata is what you want to grow. It also has many uses and is very easy to grow.
Great video and good idea to use the leftover wood for a retaining wall and the rock and sand to fill the gaps. Our forefathers built their huts in this way too. Great that you can level out both beds with this system to use the water more effectively. Good reminder that we don't have to spend spend spend.
Good stuff!! When you get the soil level built up, are you going to make a video about preparing the soil? I would love to see what you add and how you prepare the soil for planting. Thanks for the great videos!!
