  • I've got this on a vhs tape called "Pop School". Lol!

  • Pickwick Video Had Thomas The Tank Engine Videos

  • Appears On Tom and Jerry Tee For Two

  • Woah I'm trippin out!

  • This one's kinda unique for its time -- it is both a company logo ident and an ad for other videos.

I'm from the United States so I'm not quite an expert, but my guess is that Pickwick was formerly known as Longman Video.

  • Is there a link so i can use it for my intro?

  • @scifiguy9000 You could always use a youtube converter. And many people use this tune on their vids.

  • @florgeysteve

    What's a converter?

  • @scifiguy9000 It changes the youtube clip to a mp3 for your computer.

  • I had this on a nursery times VHS and I have be searching for this for years. thank you.

  • I had this on Mr Pickwick Fun With Colours.

  • That version of Peter Pan looks like it's been ripped forom a CD-i game.

  • @Rexeljet "Nice of Wendy to invite us over to a picnic, eh, Lost Boys?" (or is that "gay Lost Boys"?) :-D

  • Nowerdays people on youtube use these for thier video produtions intros.

I hope that one day i'll use that ident for my video intros.

  • I got this ident on Thomas the Tank Engine in Percy and Harold and First released version of Nursery Rhymes 2 videos.

  • Wow i remember these idents!!

  • can you give me a download link for this? please

  • Do they still show this? All the pickwick videos i have r thomas ones and they all have this ident

  • Atleast I get to see the ident again. I was looking for the 'Children choice' they did. Couldn't find it. But woww! I remember this!! i was so little and always used to watch this one video they did,.

  • This was the very first video ident I remember seeing in my whole life. By the way, was that boxer Mike Tyson? If not, who was it?

  • I've heard this music somewhere before. It used to be on my brother's Peter Pan video and my Treasure Island video. If I ever had a chance I would so use that music as an opening for my film company.

    Kirk

  • Very 80's. I like it. :)

  • God i remember this, had many Pickwick vids of that time. Can't believe i gave them all away :(((

  • It is an interesting fact that Pickwick video is now itv dvd.

  • yeah I remember pop skool I thought I regonise the music from another video

  • This one is beyond cool

  • what sort of videos do you have pickwick on ?

  • wow i remember that version of peter pan showd on here! I had it on video, cheap version..peter was chinese haha!!

  • I remember that version of Peter Pan too, really liked it. He did look chinese Lol!

  • YAY! Pickwick! Piece of my childhood XD

  • I'm guessing Pickwick must have owned Screen Legends, Ladybird Video and Longman. I'm guessing Pickwick because it's video company continued into the 90's, until it was taken over by Carlton video.

  • I reckon you are right there.

  • That and they all used the same warning as well.

  • On the back of one of the Longman videos that I have, there is some text that reads "Distributed by Pickwick Video".

This text also appears on the back of the Thomas The Tank Engine videos.

  • Well there you go. There's the proof. ^_^

  • Hi.

Has anybody heard of a video released by this company called "Pop Skool". Basically children singing pop songs including a hillarious rendition of the Neighbours theme tune.

  • Yay, i have, thought there would have been a few vids of the popskool legends on youtube but disappointingly not!!!! popskool rocks :)

  • I've been thinking, isn't the copyright warning shown in this clip the same one thats used on Screen Legends videos? Its also used at the end of at least one Longman video.

One of my Pickwick releases has another copyright warning with a blue background and white text which scrawls up the screen. Anybody seen that?

  • This copyright warning can also be found on tapes released by Ladybird video. Does anybody else remember that logo, by the way? :)

  • Yes I remember that logo. I used to have it on a tape many years ago.

  • Do you know what the name of that video might have been?

  • Hi.

It was a video version of Rapunzel(with someone reading the story).

The company released a number of video versions of storybooks that they had brought out(from the Well Loved Tales and Read It Yourself series of books). I think the videos came with the accompanying storybook.

  • Yeah, I remember those videos! :D

I think that they had a promo, telling us about the videos, the books in which they came with and the TV stars who read the stories.

  • I could swear this is the ident was on a video I used to have, because I'd always point out Thomas when he appeared. The video had something to do with nursery rhymes I think, but I was only about 2-3 at the time, so I can't remember =(

  • There was a Nursery Rhymes tape that contained this logo on some copies but I can't remember the name of it.

However, not all copies of that tape contain this ident. The one I had up until recently had the Longman and Screen Legends idents and I also saw one which had the later Pickwick ident.

  • That's the one =) I did a little digging around and found it for cheap on amazon, so I bought it just to see if I could remember it =)

  • I have a tape by them. BTW, Does anyone know if Pickwick Video has any connected to the infamous Pickwick Records? They are both budget companies from the UK so it's possible they are related. I love this logo, It's charmingly "Retro".

  • my logo like this has Spongebob, Space Goofs, 50/50, Mr Bean Cartoon, Oggy and the cockroaches and Thomas & friends. Anyone remembers these shows?

  • hello silkwood88 you have you own pickwick video did you copy on tape on the computer?

  • Pickwick were taken over by Carlton Video I think.

  • I found this on a video once :)

I don't remember which one, though.

  • Anybody remember a company called Longman Video? They originaly distributed some of Pickwick's releases such as "Nursery Rhymes 1" and also used the same copyright warning as Screen Legends.

  • What a Nosalgic Ident.

I used to have it on my Old Thomas, Percy and the Coal tape with the Screen Legends 1986 Promo.

  • I also Always like the Clip from Thomas the Tan engine Before the Tiltle in this Ident!

The TTTE episode that clip was from Thomas comes to Breakfast!

  • Thanks for Uploading this Ident.

I always liked the Music to it!

  • maybe one day would you please slow it down or speed it up?

  • I might try and do it

  • Yes Its A Really Old Logo It Was On My Nursery Rhymes 1 And Nursery Rhymes 2 Videos I Thought This Logo Is Great Even Though The Logo Was Made Back In 1982

  • Incidentaly, there are copies of those tapes which have the later Pickwick Video logo and also the Mr Pickwick logo.

  • indent IS LIKE ADENT IN 2000YEAR AGO THAN $100.0000.000

  • i havent seen this for ages its great

  • You know, the jingle for Pickwick Video could've passed off as a jingle for the Prevue Guide back then... with all the catchy synth bass music! :-D

  • Wasn't PICKWICK a brand sold by woolworths in the 70's?

  • I don't think so.

i think pickwick were solo, but i know that they were never around from the end 93, they went defunct.

  • Thank you so much for posting this,

  • Some videos like Coal, Thomas & Gordon, & Percy & Harold have this logo.

  • And Nursery Rhymes 2

  • And The Famous Compere's Police Dog

  • Don't forget that Henry's cat was distributed by Screen Legends.

  • The Thomas videos with this logo were:

    Thomas,Percy and The Coal

    Percy and Harold

    The Deputation.

All of these had Screen Legends originaly

  • Thanks for posting this.

I believe this company was part of "Screen Legends". This ident can be seen on some versions of the "Thomas The Tank Engine" videos in place of the "Screen Legends" logo.

  • Excellent, I've not seen this one for years! It looked nice at the time, AIUI they got bought up by Carlton and it is now known as ITV DVD believe it or not.
