Even if the whole crew of the freighter did fall asleep no one deserves what they all went through.Rail travel is so much like air accidents, changes are only made after blood has been spilled.
It pains me to hear the people trapped inside crying for help, oh the ones who lost loved ones. The aftermath is truly horrible, I hope something like this never happens again
A horrible incident that was definetly couldve been prevented. Shockingly the government of canada is still hasnt recganize the heroic efforts of the survivors of the train.
Seeing this, you really get a sense of what an unbelievable catastrophe that a head-on collision between two trains truly is. It is a shame that it takes terrible tragedy of this magnitude to cause needed changes to be made. Safety rules were there, but ignored, and this crew pushed their "luck" way too far. Sympathy for the victims and their survivors.
Today is the 26th anniversary of the Hinton Train Collision.
