I wanna go to Canada... This may sound silly but I relate this song and the first songs of this artist to that big and beautiful country called Canada. I've never been to there but I love you, Canada! Je t'aime.

I wanna got o Canada... This may sound silly but I relate this song and the first songs of this artist to that big and beautiful country called Canada. I've never been to there but I love you, Canada! Je t'aime.
@Ck1299 wow youre ignorant. She wrote this song about her friends who were underground artists who began to judge her because she wanted to do pop music. This is evident in the line "but now I'm just too mainstream for you? oh no" Apparently ppl like you need to listen to this song more carefully.
And I hate basketball. I am however, a huge soccer fan.
Before Nelly decided to promote promiscuity. This and Folklore is the true Nelly Furtado. I liked Loose, but there were only a few songs on there that had the feeling of Nelly trying to go back to good music. I mean, there is nothing wrong with an artist changing it up here and there, but I felt like it wasn't time for her to give up giving us these dope ass lyrics to a trip-hop beat.
think of an artist that has ALWAYS remained the same, same style, same music, same beat? NO ONE. and if there's one, is probably NOT making any money, music is business too and in order to get money, you will have to change your style every once in a while, so, yes her music was great and yes maybe its not that great anymore but she still a great artist and thats what counts :)
@rockstardiaries yah but there is a difference between changing into a new style and just doing whatever everyone else is doing. She's even doing auto-tune these days. What a hustler.
@rockstardiaries Actually a lot of heavy metal bands stay the same and some of them are able to obtain a steady cash flow generated from ticket sales and record sales. Granted it's not going to make rather wealthy, but enough for a decent life.
@rockstardiaries No, she isn't. That's the problem. Nelly didn't just change, she went mainstream. She sucked out everything that was great and unique about her music. I miss Nelly Furtado.
No one ever believes me when I tell them old Nelly had some awesome poetry and great music to go along with it. I still love her. But Whoa Nelly! takes the cake. It was a soundtrack to a part of my life that I cant forget. Good music finds you.
I just love how she writes her own songs. She even changed up her style - in favor of r&b, hip hop music and she's still writing her own shit. I've noticed other pop artists try to do what she did and don't succeed or write their own stuff because it's a different writing style. Nelly is a true artist.
This song was the beginning of her decline back the. I don't remember every hearing another song from her after this one (until Maneater) because this song was poorly received.
Ha! I remember recording this song on cassette after I heard t on the radio. I don't know why I just thought about it, but it brings back such memoriies!
@lilcynic54 I think they mean when she started working with Timbaland. That album Loose was a big hit like she knew it would be, but at a price. The music was fun, but it was meaningless compared to her earlier work.
@ManUscripted87 If you're an artist/musician, you can't just create the same things over and over again. I highly doubt she sold out. She's a person who keeps learning and growing. She's just going through different phases in her life and experimenting with different genres and working/collaborating with different people. Is she not allowed to do that?
These lyrics are major crossover in that they can be felt and understood by everyone on the face of this 'just about God-forsaken' earth...and that's really a crime...Those who identify...shout out...and loud!!!

It's so much easier to stay down there guaranteeing you're cool
Than to sit up here exposing myself trying to break through
Than to burn in the spotlight, (open fire) turn in the spitfire (open fire)
Scream without making a sound,(open fire!)
be up here and not look down (open fire!!)
because we're all afraid of heights *This woman is super hawsome*

This song is unbelievable.
I remember Nellys popular songs, and some weeks ago I heard some unfamiliar songs.
And they are ALL just as beautifull as every other.
Nelly is amazing!
I wish I could understand that language :/

An example of this could be Vader or Nile.

that just how you look at it
I liked her more in this era than the the timbaland era from like 2005
but every artist evolves him or herself and has to ade-t tosome certain sound tostay relevant nowadays .. sadly enough
