  • @fourplusseven lol he was playing last year wake up

  • I have to agree with pro emg pickups, they are not for everything but in their place , pretty sweet.

  • i dont like this guitar please bring back the valley arts

  • Love his EB Guitars, but I can't stand EMG's.

  • @MrUltraworld Dude... if you've ever played a decent guitar with Emg's... you would know why he uses them!!!

  • @96MetalMonster I've been a luthier since 1980, I own 100 guitars, no junk. .The low impedance concept is very sound, just look around any studio. Les Paul made & used them in his own guitars. The lower impedance coupled with a low voltage battery powered pre amp makes for a very quiet guitar signal. Luke runs through a very elaborate Bradshaw rig & the quiet EMG's help with signal loss & noise. But they have a sterile sound with poor dynamics,

  • @MrUltraworld Alembic, Langcaster, Seymour Duncan, Q-Tuner all make great Low Z pickups that sound alive. add one of EMG's great EQ circuits & you'll have an extremely versitile guitar the will easily do metal or Jazz. The Alembic strat set sounds very close to the old fender single coils, but there's no noise. If your going to go with Low Z pickups, look at the diffferent manufacturers & EQ circuits. Happy hunting Kevin

  • @MrUltraworld I play a Schecter with an Emg 81 in the bridge and a pair of SA's in the neck and middle. I've never experienced the problems you say, and i'm a very dynamic player and play a wide range of styles. I find the 81 pushes any amp or PA to get a really chunky sound. but thanks for your comments, because its interesting to see other problems people have with pickups i've always loved.

  • @96MetalMonster I have a Red Quilt C1Hellraiser. That I like a lot. I added the Strat presence (SPC) control & it makes for beautiful, almost acoustic clean tones. The SA is a nice sounding pick up too. Cheers

  • @96MetalMonster i tried so hard to like emg's i had 3 guitars with them hoping that different combos of woods would help but what i realized is it doesnt matter because every guitar sounds exactly the same with emgs theyre great for certain things but utter shit for most things. they're the most sterile hospital sounding pickups ever. the only ones ive ever liked are the new passives that are regular alinco 5 pickups with emg written on them because theyre not active tone suckers

  • @MrUltraworld agreed emg's are shit

  • @TheCollisionofworlds I'm a Luthier by trade. The EMG Zakk Wylde set is the number one pickup set I get asked to install by far. Mostly these are going into Epi Les Pauls. These are run into a chainsaw sounding amp (with a pedal in front of it) But no one brings me a PRS or a real Les Paul or a Strat for a set.

  • @MrUltraworld

I love my EMG guitars, they would not be my top choice for Jazz, Blues, or anything clean...but they are really still the best at what they do, and that is to kick ass. By the way, the 85 is a terrible pickup, the only people who want them are kids who think they are Zakk Wylde! The 81-60 is such a better set up, and for the record, I have a dual 81 Strat, a 81 60 Les Paul Custom, 81 60 Les Paul Studio, 81 60 Esp Eclipse! Its all in the style of music you enjoy playing!

  • @ESPsandEmgs Awwwww XD I have EMG 89 that has that split switch. He sounds like 85 on double and SA on single coil :D It is not that bad :D I have VOX AD 50VT amp so basically I have great sound, on neck position I have SLV single coil, but I didn't put pick up on the mid position, can't decide yet, should I go another SLV or what XD

  • Luke la main froide,is one the best guitarist studio of the world .

  • 5:30 sounds like Stranger in this Town by Richie Sambora :)

  • 4:36-4:40 almost sounds the like the beginning of Faust, Midas and Myself by Switchfoot.

  • Shaun the sheep at the background :D

  • I swear in my next life I'll be a rock'n'roll guitar hero. What else ?

    Richard

  • 6:32 part of intro voodoo child?

  • He makes it look so easy..

  • Loving the Tele in the background at 3:18

  • tonebone trimode

  • The ToneBone was a killer , anyone know which model he used?

  • That Tonebone overdrive from hell sound is just the b*llocks,so much colour together with a pick attack crunch that inspires.I can totaly understand some folks on here not liking it but to a real front end valve freak like me,it just does the trick in a big way.

So sorry if you disagree............but if you do,yer not a Lukather fan are you.

    Saludos desde galicia

  • Man I Wish MY Regular Sound Was Like That 4:00

  • @ClassicRockRiffs1234 Not that hard to get a sound like that. For me, the thing is keeping it simple and building your sound with your ears and not with your eyes.

What IS hard is keeping it sounding like that consistently. I swear, I just played through my JVM for 2 hours with nothing but a delay pedal and it was glorious: I'm on the clouds right now. Somedays, however, it sounds like shit no matter what I do to it or how much I turn it up. Go figure...

  • Thank you so much for this video!!!
