I would not be opposed to someone making a lower budget mini series made for t.v version of the books.....the way they did for Dune and Children of Dune....they were well done for t.v budget. Plus I found the Golden Compass movie's pacing was way too fast...in parts.

People misunderstand the actual story and assume "God" is being killed in the books, when it is acutally SPOILER an angel posing as god, it does explain that in the book. @Ragac6: I actually meant getting a new cast to do a tv mini series version. Child actors always grow up fast so I already knew Dakota Blue Richards would be too old by now. Plus stars like Nicole Kidman who have a minimum 5-10 million dollar salary per movie would be way too expensive for t.v budget. But even with television budget, I believe they can make a great trilogy of His Dark Materials.

Bottom line: If they're going to make "Subtle Knife" into a movie, STICK to the BOOK!!

They should have done this with the first movie as well, but they gave a watered down rendition so the weak-minded could swallow it.

I'm a Christian, and I was fascinated with the series. I'm currently re-reading the books (3rd time).

If your faith is so weak that you can't enjoy intelligent, thought-provoking fiction, then you should look inside yourself for faults instead of condemning others.

Yeah I agree! I found the film when i watched it to be very interesting and I hard a lot of criticism over it. A friend of mine advised me to reads the book series because they are much better. So I've finished Northern Lights and my gosh the film pales in comparison with it! I hate the way Hollywood try to make it child and Christian friendly so ridiculous!

I read an article, while searching through many film sites. And it said that New Line are selling the rights to the the last two films (or something along those lines) to a branch of Warner bro's that made Harry Potter, and they are ditching Chris Weitz. They definitely have a script already put together (that was confirmed) so it's just a matter of time before they announce the auditions.
