  • this motherfucker should of been the new singer .

  • @pschodoughboy lol I much of rather seen john kosco as the lead singer instead of duvall and maynard has 3 bands already and a vineyard think he is just a little to busy with his own projects to in jerry cantrell's

  • I've seen Maynard use a megaphone at live shows..

  • thumbs up if you when you saw this thumbnail you thought he was in a green man suit

  • @EvilassProductions, I always thought that Maynard recorded Eulogy using a bullhorn through a microphone. Being as Jesus talk to crowds of people at a time, I thought it was a nice touch. There are recording effects that simulate that sound. Unless you're talking about those little vocal "sounds" at the very beginning, that could be a talk box. I'd have to listen to it again. Good observation though...

  • Did you know that Staley has sung with Maynard on several occasions. I only wish I was at those live shows. My 2 most favorite band. I don't know which one I love more... so they tie for first and then soundgarden take the next spot.

  • @EvilassProductions You just read my mind with that lineup

  • I was thinking that maybe this could have been a voice over, what does wverone else think?

  • @LEEdseveryone if you read Maynards Wikipedia article it states that he did 3 songs with AIC at a benefit concert for the 2004 tsunami victims

  • Oh may goooo!

  • ME GUSTA!

  • this works really welll...and the band sounds fuckin amazing.

  • is there any video footage of this performance floating around anywhere? All i can find is audio.

  • forget just my left nut. I'd have given both of them to see this

  • hart dipshit

  • Victums? Really?

  • Agreed

  • Perfection

  • I think MJK should stick to tool, he's good but he doesn't fit the gravely soul and inner pain that came with Layne's vocals. No Layne, no chains.

  • @themaxeatsfood Remember different vocal ranges, He anit no Layne but he did it for a benefit concert. Better than Duvall.

  • I think maynard should join up with the last standing members of alice in chains and do all staleys lyrics!!!(live only) Thats just a thought!!

  • i think i like this better then alice w/duvall. duvall is doing good though,

  • He such a good singer his nipples can sing

  • @DeeperSpiritualSign

    and then you woke up

  • He had one mic for his mouth, and one for his nipple???

  • @megustatocar420 His heart was beating in perfect atrophy, a rhythmic harmony of epic proportions

  • @KataarSolo damn straight, theres that tool fan with the context. lovely

  • @megustatocar420 Maynard's nipple needs a mic. It's just that fucking awesome.

  • @TehRavenclaww his heart beeat was insync with the music PERFECTLY 0,0

  • @TehRavenclaww maybe it's just a matter of resonance & vibration to foster James' powerful voice!! Or maybe his nipple can do backing vocals?

  • @AZURETOM I think his nipple does the backing vocals!

  • @TehRavenclaww of course his nipple does the backing vocals... thats why Maynard only has to do one take when he records...

  • @megustatocar420 that this is too awesome. made my morning!

  • @megustatocar420 XD

I think it is awesome. Basically he has the second mic hooked up to something similar to a guitar pedal which changes his voice. So he can A. sing normal, B. sing distored/different, and C. BOTH AT THE SAME TIME!

They really put on amazing live shows.

  • @EvilassProductions @megustatocar420 It's called a talk-box, and it's a great little invention that allows your voice and your guitar to sort of blend into one by distorting each other. I'd recommend "Rocky Mountain Way" by Joe Walsh; he's a former member of the Eagles, so not exactly very heavy, but towards the end of the song he has a talk-box solo which absolutely DEFINES talk-box solos. The device was still fairly unused in music at the time, and it still is, but it's great.

  • @GodofReapers I know about talk-boxes. I am pretty sure this isn't a talk box, because their is no tube. He has too mics and the tube is what makes the sound similar to talking. Plus I don't think you could sing very well with a tube in your mouth (because he will sing through both mics at the same time)

I know all about Joe Walsh. They are all great. Peter Frampton of course used one all the time too. Alice in Chains - Man in a box used one.

I think the beginning of Eulogy uses one too.

  • @megustatocar420 LMAO!!!!!

  • Cobain sounded like he was throwing up marbles. Nothing compares/or is better then MJK's voice. Tool, Perfect Circle, and even puscifer(which was just made cause all the followers would buy it no matter what) remains the best bands created and will always inspire people through their music and lyrics. MJK is the best of all time.

  • @xXxVicariousxXx Puscifer has some good songs. A lot are pretty meh but I'd say there were 4 good ones on the first album

  • this is great but i also love adam gontier (three days grace) singing rooster live

  • AIC will always have the best lyrics, Tool will always have the best time signatures. Layne was the best singer besides kurt.

  • @xfxmonkey ok I like the first two things, but Layne trumps Cobain at singing hands down

  • @krtbossman yea,

  • I didn't hear Maynard's voice in it

  • @ThePimperor I can

  • time for a troll comment,

tool sucks !!!!!! and is a pussy band :P

  • @lukejams Good for you. Feel better now? K, go away.

  • @lukejams FUUUUUUCCCCKKKK U!

  • @lukejams Tool rocks. You're just a hater, clearly.

  • @lukejams sir you can go to imaginary hell

  • wait a second.. im starting to think Maynard is a cardboard cut out

  • the greatest powergroup ever assembled

  • powermetal=)

  • maynard is probably the only other artist who could near perfectly harmonise with jerry than layne

  • @Gears2warzone

I'd prefer a clean & sober Phil Anselmo.

  • @Gears2warzone Yes! this is beautiful!

  • Wow!!!

  • I am a huge aic fan been there since they started but do not ever talk shit about the Rev. maynard Tool is one of the most incredible band out there

  • Wow, this is an amazing collab!!

  • does anyone know if maynards wines are in all liquor stores now?

  • @BJZnRPZ no...they wont ever be in stores. I live very close to the winery. Thats the only place you can get it, unless someone sells it privately online or something.

  • @BJZnRPZ I think it is only exclusive in whole foods. I tried to get a bottle from there but they say they are really limited. He actually did a signing in whole foods in my town.

  • @BJZnRPZ I think it is only exclusive in whole foods. I tried to get a bottle from there but they say they are really limited. He actually did a signing in whole foods in my town.

  • Maynard would have been the best replacement for Layne if he hadn't had his other projects.

  • @DevlinMcGrath I strongly disagree.

  • @SexedUpAtheist So...who would you have recommended?

  • members from my two favorite bands performing together? this is awesome! hopefully they both go on tour together if they ever do again.

  • Alice in chains is a 80 s like band with a singer that didn't sound like a girl. That's what made them seem more grunge, their singer.

  • @MyGangLife Alice in Chains doesn't really sound 80sat all, dude. Their sound is much darker.

  • @mrnikko419 Agreed. Alice is much more of an early '90s grunge sound

  • BEST EVA

  • i think it should be maynard ft alice in chains :P

  • i wonder what would happen if people stopped wasting their time arguing about good music and just vented it all on like justin beiber and that? just saying....

  • miss layne.

  • they maynard to sing with russian circles and also collaborate with Opeth!!!! that would be the sickest shit ever!@

  • By the way, Alice is glam and so is everyone else! they just did a shit job of it and got called grunge!

  • @jcmbass that is a joke,,,right...glam,,glam is all shit,,but aic wasnt glam,,,sorry dude and change your pampers...DICK

  • @jdu6 They actually started out as a glam band dude. They all loved the hairspray back in the late 80s!

  • @jcmbass wow i dont think theres a bigger dumbass here than you...so first id like to congradulate you with that...second, they wernt even called grunge..they were part of "the seattle Sound" at the same time as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, ECT...nobody knew what to call it, thats what was so good about it, they didnt have to put on womens clothes, eyeliner, hair spray, or any of that shit...they visuals to the show could have been alittle better, but over the years it has progressed...

  • chris cornell is awesome, and slaves and bulldozers is one of my favorite songs (and kudos to you for recognizing soundgarden's best song - unlike everyone else), but chris' range is great on the high side! layne could hit nearly as high as chris, and much much lower. that is range. i think you are mistaking the ability to hit the higher notes with range!

  • i am not detracting from maynard's singing ability, and he has great range (on the higher end). i'm just saying that layne had the widest range of possibly any rock singer in history.

  • Tool. Satan. Alice in Chains. God. OH SHIT.

  • maynard has probably the clearest, prettiest voice of any rock singer ever, but layne's voice had more range than anyone else's! i miss him for sure!!!! maynard certainly doesn't have lane's range, and lane certainly couldn't sing some of the highs in opiate or undertow where maynard really wails! but they both are one of a kind voices!

  • @urbngrla although i may not agree with what you say sir. i will defend to the death your right to say it. anyways... maynards range is not to be underestimated. the man will find a way. layne was the man. maynards the man. and youre the man as well so you can point that finger.. ehh fuck.. you get the idea.

  • @urbngrla Don't get me wrong, i'm a massive AIC/Layne Staley fan and he's inspired me for over 20 years- i can't say that i love listening to any vocalist more than i love listening to him. But as far as range goes, i have to disagree and say that no one has ever quite matched Chris Cornell's range (when he was in his prime anyway) just listen to Badmotorfinger...in particular Slaves And Bulldozers/Jesus Christ Pose...just insane- to this day i still can't get over it

  • @urbngrla

    Mike Patton

  • even though hes not around...

    i hear layne.

  • @tiemyshoes92 Yeah.

  • I love AIC and Lane's voice, but I gotta lean towards Tool, cause of their unique sound, Maynard's voice, and the fact that Danny Carey is, without doubt, the greatest fucking drummer that has ever lived. Rush's drummer has nothing on Tool's drummer. Lookup the live video of Hooker with a Penis, and watch Danny on the drums, OMG.

  • Tool and Alice in Chains? Yes please....and go ahead and kill me right then and there, because there is nothing better that I would experience in my life

  • laynes voice is impossible to recreate. Maynard and Layne were good friends, I think it's awesome Maynard honored him by singing this beautiful song.

  • he didnt even move his lips or dance around, hes good

  • maynard does perfect job with this one

  • tight work. i first heard this song on the street fighter 2 animated movie!! sweet dudes

  • @DingoVideoSurfer wtf... how old are you?

  • @lakelful 25. never seen it. baaaa aassss

  • anyone else think maynard looks like voldemort in that pic? lmao

  • so meannnn love it

  • Anything Maynard touches is gold.

  • we are born to the grave so simply said

  • This gave me an eargasm!

  • I see 9 musically challenged morons don't like this. Not sure how a fan of either party could click on this and not enjoy this sound.

Unfortunately, Maynard's collaboration in this song isn't very noticeable as Them Bones uses only a few vocal pitches and tones. The Man in the Box collaboration is where it's at - that specific version is also extremely up beat and damn I wish I could have been there.

  • nobody sings like stanley did!! but maynard is very good!!

  • Tool's harmony musically between it's musicians is some of the strongest you will find of any current bands Im my opinion. AIC biggest factor of cohesion was Layne and Jerry's vocal southern inspired harmony between each other and the solem doom and glum to gritty southeren stained guitar work. Tool however probably has more of a cohessive sound on the sum of all it's parts. But for me I prefer listening to AIC a little more often.

  • @wrangler34

Agreed. If you listen to Adam Jones' guitar work by itself, it doesn't really work. I love Tool, but they are definitely more than the sum of their parts.

I could listen to this guitar solo on repeat though...

  • @wrangler34

Well said...I would just say that they both are the masters of their respected genre's. I love each band, but i lean to AIC as well...

...and what 'drumlord420' said, as well as what 'Auslandic' said to wrangler...right on guys.

  • @wrangler34 thats northern voice and guitaring man, Seattle washington

  • @metamaniac420 Well I have to disagree. While yes this being apart of the whole grunge thing, that comes into play. But this isn't Nirvana, the particular sound and styling vocally aren't very northern at all, but soulful, dusty, southern downtrodden melancholic melodies and vocal styling. AIC can be very Blues meets hard rock as well. In my opinion saying AIC doesn't have many songs that mimic a soulful southern vibe, is like saying Tool has no middle eastern inspired sounding songs.

  • @wrangler34 they started out being labeled a metal band, it wasn't until both they and nirvana started selling a lot of records that the whole grunge label came out. You are trying to lump them in a category. They sang and played about what they knew, and that was the seattle drug scene. They made a whole album about addiction. Also, most of their listed influences are not even southern rock bands, that i have read. I just try to stay away from the whole labeling thing.

  • @metamaniac420 Well on this one, I'm not trying to actually lump them into the label of grunge, it's just generally accepted that it is part of what AIC did. My feelings are actually mixed a little on calling them grunge the same way another one of my favs Deftones are some how labelled Nu-metal. I simply will go by the grunge thing in support of not starting arguments with those that feel comfortable with that term regarding AIC.

  • @wrangler34 yes and rock n' roll from it's roots. even the newer music stays with good old fashioned rock n' roll.

  • @metamaniac420 I myself see "grunge" as more so an era than much of a fully developed genre or sub-genre of music. But again as for southern influence in AIC, look at Jerry's taste. I may be wrong but I remember reading even somewhere a long time ago Jerry saying he and his dad would sometimes go down southern states during his youth. I do believe it is widely accepted he has spoken on some of his influence being southern in style in his guitar work. Check around for a written interviews.

  • @wrangler34 but you do make good points and i respect your opinion, i like that you put thought into music. We need more rock fans who see past the pretty sounds and pretty words to what really makes the core of good rock. I guess i will just agree to disagree, so no disrespect intended.

  • @metamaniac420 Thanks man, hope I didn't come off as prudish. I've been wrong before about a lot of things and I do accept the fact that I may even be wrong now. I don't wanna come off as high and mighty either. I respect your opinion as well. And if anything it's nice to see people discuss the content and disagree without insulting intended, You did nothing wrong. Cheers dude..

  • OMG Maynard is fucking incredible!!!!!!

  • wait.. i thought this was featuring Maynard.. why is Layne singing?

  • @Jara00O0 layne was dead 3 almost 3 years at this point silly goose

  • @barfjavelin hah i know(rip) :p i was just complimenting on maynards vocals to sound pretty much identically to laynes!

  • @Jara00O0 maynard cant sing like layne

  • Damn, Maynard did awesome with this song. I like to hear other people singing Layne's shit with respect.

  • all you crying over whos better which bands better who gives a fuck musics there for people who want to listin to it you dont like tool dont listen dont like aic dont listen same with all manyards bands who care dont whine about it dont like dont listen i like both bands and its just annoying to read two people bitching over the stupid shit cus they have nothing better to do get over it

  • no lo quiiero en vivo que toquen en un cd

  • Hasn't anyone here heard the saying, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"?

  • @RebornLayneStaley Your such a fag dude.. Go fuck yourself

  • Best AiC song ever.

  • 221,999

  • @nastynelson713 Chris Cornell's voice has dwindled quite a bit due to overuse/vocal damage, which is natural in tthe music world i and age has set in a little. He has good moments and bad ones but overall in his career he can be seen as a great singer, however He doesn't have more vocal variety or stamina than someone like Mike Patton.

  • @wrangler34 mike patton kicks ass!

  • @gwar265 I can't disagree with you on that one bud.

  • @gwar265 oh yeah

  • @wrangler34 I like Chris Cornell, Maynard James Keenan AND Mike Patton. To me its like fine beer or wine. The character differs from bottle brand to bottle brand, but its all to be appreciated.

  • @Auslandic I agree, to bad some people here have either lost sight of that possibly enjoying more than one of the mentioned singers, or even lacked the sight to see how each are good in their own way from the start.

  • @Auslandic Absolutely. I see each vocalist as their own instrument, or like a guitar with its own effects or tone. A listener couldn't rightfully say that one instrument is better than another, basically as long as they are in tune they have an inherent value. That being said, there are plenty vocalists who distinguish themselves creatively from the rest or who have a more relevant sound for their group; not even Maynard, Cornell, or Patton reproduce Staley's quality for AIC.

  • @pezhed0987 I disagree but very well said. I would think if you were to compare Patton's sound with FNM striclty then it's easy to see that he fits every bit as much with that particular collective musically just as much as Layne Staley fits with AIC. FNM overall was spastic, humorous, serious to light hearted, and overall playful in both sound and in their musical efforts. All those traits can be seen greatly both Patton's vocal demeanor, lyrics, and ranging vocal stylings.

  • @wrangler34 oh nonono. I think that your comments are actually consistent with my with what i wrote. What i meant was, Staley fit the band AIC better than the other vocalists mentioned fit AIC. It's hard to argue that they don't each fit great with their own bands.

  • Comment removed

  • @pezhed0987 As for Maynard I think that depends more so on which group your comparing aswell. If you were to compare APC withTool by which one Mayanrd fits much more in terms of quality then I would say Tool, even though I myself more so sometimes lean towards APC in terms of which one I prefer personally. Maynards vocal display of varied range and wavy sound matches the ethereal shifting melodic sparkling guitars and ever changing tribal like drum sections perfectly.

  • @Auslandic I like Chris Cornell, Maynard James Keenan AND Mike Patton. To me its like fine beer or wine. The character differs from bottle brand to bottle brand, but it all gets you shitfaced. -fixt

  • @Auslandic And Layne?

  • @Auslandic haha, dude.. so true.. well put. I agree completely.

  • @Auslandic Couldn't have said it better myself!

  • @Auslandic good list there bro. Add Eddie Vedder and we're set.

  • @Auslandic Oh God I can't tell you how much I agree! I'm a luscious 90's girl who love the Rev, Chris, Mike, and many groundbreakers of our time. Let's not forget Bad Religion, Sick Puppy and such. I gotta hit out on Ke$ha and bitches like her.

  • @Auslandic Maynard pretty much bites Mike Patton’s style, especially with Puscifer, but he can never touch the great mike Patton. Also, Mike Patton isn’t trying to sell us his wine in every song and video.

  • @wrangler34 WHAT HAPPENS IS THAT MIKE PATTON, VOICE MAKES CHANGES AND crhis, TRY TO SING TO YOUR STYLE

  • @nastynelson713

Dude, no offence but you're wrong.

Chris Cornell and Maynard are both a league for themselves. I am a Tool fan btw, still I admit that Maynard isn't the best.

    Freddy Mercury

    George Michael

    Nuff said!

  • @Eminemil1

    Freddy Mercury is a beast.

    george Michael sucks though.

  • @nastynelson713 cant forget layne staley RIP. he was better live

  • @nastynelson713

I agree...Jeff Buckley and Cornell are my favourites. Maynard has his own style and he's in my top ten anyway...

  • @nastynelson713 I like Chris Cornell, but I wouldn't give him best vocals. I feel like Maynard is way more versatile.

  • @nastynelson713

    Freddy Mercury.

  • @nastynelson713 dude wtf are you tone deaf or something maynard is a way better vocalist then chirs cornell!!!

  • @nastynelson713 HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!................spits on the ground and walks away

  • @nastynelson713 can only be kidding

  • @nastynelson713 Crhis NOT HAVE THE BEST VOICE ... MAYNARD NOT HAVE THE BEST VOICE, WHO THEN IF YOU HAVE IT,, .. IF NOT LEAVE IT LIKE YOUR BACK, MAY, JUSTIN BEAVER HAS IT .. PUEAJ .. IF THAT BAD TASTE

  • @RebornLayneStaley You know absolutely nothing about MJK.

  • That isn't Layne? Cuz it sounds like Layne and Jerry, then Maynard hits the chorus'. I seen AIC last September, and the new guy ( can't remember his name) he's good. But this sounds like Layne. Idk.

  • where can i actually find this song in perfect audio?

  • Maynard=best singer

  • I wish Tool was touring with AiC this year...

  • Arguing on youtube is like being in the special olympics: win or lose, you're still a retard.

  • @drumlord420

    HAHAHA oh yeah baby
