I was awarded reinstatement 11/2009, VA foreclosed home 1st. They owe me for 5 years+ $50,000+.SS refuses to pay after 28 months I followed timely appeals. Still told "somethings" being processed. Get $1124 monthly no retroactive. Final judgement "state failed to prove I was not disabled and that I remain disabled since 1992"

Deserving people I don't think so. Maybe a few but mostly lazy people wanting government handouts. He cant create injuries or make up evidence but the doctor can? The doctor is just as bad at screwing the government as the attorney. If these leeches were truly disabled they would have been to a doctor without a attorney telling them to go.

@tomcat624u Millions of lives depend on SSI, how is that a ponzi scheme? If you are disabled then you should be entitled, and if the system has failed you because of some bureaucratic slip up, try again, and if you get denied again, consult a lawyer. There are many lawyers who will only get paid if you get approved, and there is a clear cap on what they can be paid, and that payment will come out of a portion of the SSI check which will increase your income and which you otherwise wouldn't have.

@tomcat624u After 30 years of paying into a system you should be pissed off if they did just leave you alone, you paid into that system, you're entitled to be insured by it, and if they fail to cover you after you paid in for 30 years, the person denying your claim needs to be dragged before a judge and taken down.

This guy is right.....social security almost always denies a first claim. You practically have to have your arm and legs cut off to be approved. My brother had been disabled with crippling panic attacks for 30 years, never worked, never left the house... and he was denied. We hired a special social security lawyer and he got my brother like 600 bucks a month.....well worth every penny of the fee

I can go to the grocery store at night when the store is empty. I can go on bike rides around my neighborhood. I have gone to my doctor which is 5 minutes away and I usually turn back home a few times because of an attack. But I then finally make it their. My doctor see's me right away. But he wants me to take celexa and I have heard not so good things about taking such medication. So I am working out and staying busy with my hands like cleaning or reading, taking tests online to try and work ,

@Bladerunner55217 PLEASE...do not over look taking medication for this problem. Every drug can act differently in each person. I have had good luck with Celexa. Sometimes you may have to try 5 different meds before you hit the jackpot.

There is too much fraud in Oregon. I have been fighting for 13 years. I cannot get it because too many people are getting SS and are not even disabled here. Most can drive a car and do alot of physical things yet I have arthritis and cannot walk and cannot get anything for something that is not my falt-a horrible accident. People do explain about it and do provide the evidence and still do not get SS at all. I had an attorney and he was a crook.The truth of the matter is that SS is a fraud.

It Says If you are unable to hold an 8 hour work day 5 days a week then you are disabled yet they say 1 hour a day is enough, they dont even fallow thier own rules.

My doctor is treating my panic disorder / agoraphobic. I am still not able to be drive or be drivin without having a sever panic attack. I applied for ssdi and the worker had requested i go for a mental examination. I told him the agoraphobia is the hole reason why i can't work. He & I tried looking for a doctor that does house visits but could not find one. So can anyone give me advice?

@Bladerunner55217 If you can't independently do IADL's Independent Activities of Daily living, like paying rent, talking on the phone, going to the store for food, seeing a doctor, going to any activities outside the by yourself, you should be able to get SSI without a hearing. Can you leave the house if someone goes with you? PM me if this gets too personal.

I have decided to try and get a job on odesk.com and at the same time continue to work out stay busy and get out more and more often little by little and see how far I can get. Believe me I want free myself from these feelings. I have had some really good weeks so I am hopeful.

@Bladerunner55217 You should hire a good social security lawyer. They will get you the doctors evidence you need and they don't ask for payment until you win your case. There is a section of the social security law that states not being able to independently perform activities of daily living. I know someone who got SSI in 6 months without even a court hearing who has your same diagnosis and inability to independently perform ADL's.

@inkey2 Well I had my first one which was the strongest one I ever had about 5 years ago. Slowly I started to get mild ones every so often over the coarse of a few years. Then it got to be more frequent. So I researched what a panic attack really was and I understand now that not knowing what a panic attack is was the cause of my mind/thoughts where inducing my panic attack. Since knowing I now have very little panic and if it comes i quickly laugh it off. I am writing an ebook on my experience

Here in Illinois, the SSA goes VERY STRICTLY by the " SEVERITY " of a mental or Physical Disablity/Disorder BUT its funny how they do that, where you have to be ABSOLUTELY VERY SEVERYLY MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY DISABLED where you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT work " ANY " type of job/Simply task job BUT............they have a law to where while your in the " waiting process " of getting your decision or waiting for a hearing, YOUR ALLOWED TO WORK part-time, thats a HUGE CONTRADICTION to me.

The entire SS system is a fraud and people that really need it CANNOT GET IT. There are many people at my unemployment support group here in Oregon that got it at age 47-50 and ARE NOT DISABLED and get around better than I can with severe severe arthritis. People I know who have it drive 26000 cars and can walk.

Disability is a LONG PROCESS and a pain in the ass. DONT GIVE UP. I FIRST applied back in july of 2008, and waited a year for my hearing, here in ILLINOIS, it can take 15-18 months. Now, i had a hearing in front of a judge and i was denied. After i was denied, i gave up! Just a month ago, i decided to continue to Fight. I got in touch with a new lawyer, who is very good and well known here in illinois. AGAIN, DO NOT GIVE UP, IF YOU TRULY HAVE MENTAL OR PHYSICAL DISABILITYS, DONT GIVE UP!!!

I hate it when people say "ADHD isn't a disability" or "I have ADHD and I work" to put us down. the truth is it IS a disability and I bet those who don't have REAL issues with ADHD were misdiagnosed just because they were bouncey hyper kids (like ALL kids are) My meds didn't work either I tried em again at 16 but they didn't work. This is nothing but a lie. I have an attorney here in Portland and he was for SS. I was denied after fighting since 99 and was told never ever I can get it. There are too many people that are frauding the system and can work and are getting it but yet I cannot walk at all and I know someone who has a new car and does all these things yet she is getting a huge SS check from the SS system. The system is messed up and it is nothing but a system of fraud and abuse. I hate what they did to me.

No it doesn't matter and yes it's a one-time fee. I just was awarded my disability via a hearing after being turned down twice. It was awarded on the spot by the judge.

The 60 day period to file for reconsideration and following up with medical care information is correct. But if you file by yourself, complete all the paperwork in a timely fashion, why hire an attorney, that will take 25% of your disability if you win?
