@cepahlo- If this was 2007 then you're right The Cubs weren't fighting for the playoffs because they wrapped it up by mid season and had the best record in the national league by far. They ended up winning the division by an amazing margin and were in first place and had the first or 2nd best record in all of baseball for the whole year. They won the division the next year too. Of course The Padres are such a great team and have such a huge following around the country. I wish The Cubs did.
